  1. Buying a Rex is getting more risky. There are beginning to be some engine failures, not because the engine isn't reliable, but through poor maintenance. As has been discussed the RX8 engine uses more oil than most others and needs regular checking and topping up. However, lots of Rexs got bought by non-enthusiasts, company car drivers etc. who expect to run a car between services without lifting the bonnet. Plenty of these cars have been allowed to run low on oil and engines are now failing further down the line. The obvious thing is to buy from an enthusiast but unless its a one owner car you'll have no idea what his/her predecessor was like. Its a shame because the car is great and the engine is like nothing else but it sounds a bit like playing Russian roulette with your cash to me. And before any ex-Rex owners flame me, the info came from a sticky on the Rex forums.
  2. This has been an interesting thread. On the quality front I think Ross is right - there can't be a hard and fast rule because some originals (Veilside spring to mind) can be just as cack quality as the replicas. All folk can do is rearch any purchase and get feedback from those who have bought before - that's what makes these forums so good. I'd happily by a replica if I knew that plenty of others had found it a high quality item. On the other hand I'd spend the extra money on an original if i had no feedback on the replica. Make sense?
  3. Drove a GTR on track last weekend - eye wateringly fast and competent (handy when on a streaming track covered in standing water ) but pretty soulless. Preferred the Gallardo LP560 I'd driven earlier but to be fair it was almost 3 times the price!
  4. You'll be fine with 25mm on the back on stock suspension.
  5. I wonder what happened to the black supercharged one?
  6. Nice to see they're still trotting out that white Zed.
  7. I think the closest we have is the Cat and Fiddle. Its also on a proper driving road!
  8. P1, P2, P1 and recently a P3. If the last hasn't been done there's some negotiation to do because that's the biggest.
  9. That'll be cheaper to repair then!
  10. Gutted for you, mate!
  11. And that wasn't going to happen...

  14. PMSL Does anyone else remember Mr Angry from Steve Wright in the Afternoon on Radio 1?
  15. Wow, thread resurrection! You wouldn't be wanting to sell a car would you, Jord?
  16. I pity the fool who rocks fakes...
  17. If there is they will probably be in the for sale section...
  18. You might want to search on them here. The feedback is pretty poor.
  19. They've stuffed up the frontal styling from the concepts IMHO. Way, way too expensive too. Must be something in the water because they've also gone nuts over at Noble.
  20. +1 Why bother for 8mm?
  21. Spikey today, aren't you Vik?
