  1. I can't argue with the straight line figures but why do you say this? In the wet the Golf would muller a Zed obviously but in the dry? The R32 is just a Golf with 4WD added whilst the Zed is a RWD sports car. I know which will be the most engaging drive... PS I'm not dissing the Golf and almost went for one of these when I needed something practical.
  2. Err I don't think the Carbon black is a special edition............it actually looks dark blue in a lot of lights!! It looks blue in most lights, unfortunately. Stupidly I expected it to be black! I was told its an M-sport only colour.

    New Car

    Looks fantastic - very envious!
  4. I think you need to spend some money on rims before a bonnet, Jay.
  5. This looks like it will be class! Steve, just noticed my name is still on the list - my Zed went 10 months ago! Have a good one!
  6. I'm actually surprised at how much I miss a manual gearbox. +1 I still use the stick to shift up and down rather than the paddles as when you turn the wheel the paddles spin with the wheel which is very annoying. We only got the SMG cos the Mrs wanted an auto and it was the best compromise we could find. The SMG is a very slick bit of kit though. With regard to the servicing, it'll be going to an independant. it may be more expensive but that is evened out by the fact that the service schedule is not like the zed's e.g 12 months/9k it is based on the onboard computer and is determined by how you drive the car. Lots of short journeys and the miles to the next service comes down quicker. use it les frequently and for longer journeys like we do and the service will not be for ages. Its not uncommon to see M3's unserviced for 18 months + because of this. My car is showing the service is required in 11,000 miles but we have only done 3,000 in it since January so it'll be ages before we need to service it at that rate.................. Only the second time I tried the paddles I picked up a ticket for 59 in a 30 - whoops!
  7. Do you have any sort of cage on the car, Alex, or are you relying on the standard roll-over protection?
  8. I'm actually surprised at how much I miss a manual gearbox.
  9. BMW 635d - just as fast as the Zed (probably faster in the mid-range), more practical, a million times more classy inside but entirely devoid of the Zed's character and passion. I'm happy but still miss the Zed.
  10. Its a classic that, Daytona-esque styling cues et al!
  11. Ideally yes but if you can get a bargain then I'd rather go Enkei than some of the Ebay crap people have been interested in recently. On the other hand, I'd be interested to see what a trader like Envy charges for these new in more aggressive offsets. As for size, it depends on what your priorities are - 20" for looks, 18" for performance, 19" a good compromise between both - IMHO of course.

    Nismo V1 Spoiler

    Another all sunset from me.
  13. Great wheels. Lowered with the right spacers and these would look spot on.
  14. I really feel for you, mate. PS Can someone split this thread perhaps?
  15. Yeah, its been a whole day.... My Bad , To all that have been in touch, i am trying to get back to all................... Stop wasting time posting on here then!
  16. Yeah, its been a whole day....
  17. The problem with car manuals is that the tiny bit of vital info is chucked in with reams and reams that you'l never want or need. Really, kids should be taught basic car maintenance at school because not everyone's dad does it. I hope that this doesn't turn out to be an expensive education for the OP.
  18. Thanks for all the kind words, guys! Just went to split a thread - old habits die hard!
  19. Platform sharing for a "new 356" - a "new 924" more like!
  20. Hi and welcome, Pete!
  21. Just a quick message to say that with no longer having a Zed and the likelihood of me joining the fold for a third time receding into the distance, I feel its time to stand down as a mod. I'd like to thank everyone who has made this place so easy to moderate over the last two years - this really is great forum driven by its members. Also thanks to the rest of the team - I leave knowing that the place couldn't be in safer hands. And don't think you've got rid of me completely - I suspect this place is a hard habit to kick...
  22. Hi and welcome!
