I thought the key would have to have the immobilizer chip in it to work. May be able to open the car, but not sure about starting it.

Just buy a nice set of Stainless Steel wheel nuts and locking wheel nut, goes with any colour. As said above cannot see paint staying on the wheel nuts for long.
