  1. next year check out the specialist insurers on the forum, they tend to be more mod friendly and once you've proven you can drive a powerful car they can use that as leverage to get the premium down.
  2. talk to your insurance company before you get the work done. the cheapest bidders on the comparison sites tend to have a zero mods policy and would not be able to continue your insurance.
  3. oh like a hidden/service compartment? i'm sure i bumped into that on this forum at some point, probably in the fuel gage fix thread where you have to get under it. so take a peak at that guide as they probably mention what it is in there

I think they have done well to get it to a 250 mile range. it's just starting to verge on being practical. i spent 5 years in a car with a 250 mile motorway range (180 in town) and while it was often a pain as i'd have to stop for gas on the longer trips up the country (i rack up a lot of motorway miles) i was very happy with that car. so when the superchargers are out then i think that will be a good starting point to make electric a viable choice for long hauls. when trucking up from kent to yorkshire late at night i'll always take the M1 for the 24hr services, so if they hit all the service stations that will be enough of an infrastructure. i think for any long hauls inside england a 250 mile range if perfectly workable with a 30 min break. that's not to say it's ideal, but after living it for 5 years it's very workable for a car you enjoy. now obviously my last car doesn't even begin to compare to my new zed, but that's not so much the extended range, more having double the hp/ton so maybe not for everyone, but just the right side of practicality for people to start saying yes to electric.
  5. the glove box is directly behind the passenger seat, is that what you are talking about? or are you talking about the furthest back compartment by the gear stick? if so that's the bluetooth module holder
  6. was rev matching not enough? i'm in the habit of trying to rev match while changing gears. means less strain on the sync and faster gear changes. but a double de-clutch is the momma of all gear change manoeuvres
  7. Look into the options you have, cos right now you can either slap a new stock part on, or let the zeditus kick in and start modding your zed to match your tastes and driving style. The cost of changing the flywheel at this stage is a lot cheaper as the mechanics will be working in the same area. If you did a flywheel later you'd have to pay for the time taken to get the transmission out again. A lighter flywheel will make the revs more responsive, but you will also have to be more careful with regards to stalling. In the same regard the alternative clutches have pro's and cons. Some are a lot beefier and will not wear out in the same way the stock one is prone to (and also be ready for something serious like a twin turbo.... just sayin ). Some make more noise at idle. Some are heavier and some are lighter. So take some time out to look into your options as you can really start to mould your zed into the perfect car for you. One word of warning though, check your insurance before you do anything other than stock. Many of the cheaper quotes won't cover any sort of modding, performance or cosmetic. The last thing you want is to get hauled into a court of law because you're driving a car with null and void insurance due to a mod. I think most of the insurance companies that have traders accounts on here are more mod friendly than the cheapest options on compare the market and other such sites. So if you want you can always look at buying out early and jumping ship.

  9. 120 mile round trip to kaizer for me. they have a comfy sofa and free wifi, i also took a book. for longer jobs they can run you to either local station and pick you up too. didn't end up reading that much as some hoon turned up in a car that sounded like it didn't have a silencer on. then a few more forumites turned up to see what all the fuss was about. the next thing you know i'm in the middle of a mini meet
  10. Silly question, but have you thought of asking the mods to move this to the 350z parts for sale section? I think you might get some more foot fall there and can always sort out a swap by PM if someone has bits you want.

  12. I think a lot depends on the ride height. Mine is silly low and I've scraped it in a few places. Not a speed bump yet (those have been fine), but the dip exiting a petrol station has got me, as has a low kerb in a parking bay. I think that sort of scraping is where the stress cracks at the side come from. I've seen pics of a silver zed with the same stress cracks and the owner said he'd given up getting those patched up. I get the feeling when I get her raised back to stock I'll not be grinding out any more. I don't know how low she is at the moment either, low enough to really screw the camber up but I probably won't get a number to that until I get the shorter springs taken off next pay cheque. I'd be happier with a plastic bumper, but on a quick search I could on'y find fibre glass replicas of the Nismo bumpers.

  16. when i was speaking to my supplier about them getting a refund they said they were looking at another courier company as they had had tons of complaints. get your tracking number and look it up on their site. that much at least seems to work and will let you know if the driver has done a fly by

Thought you lot might be interested in the fun I've had with these guys over the past few weeks as the thriving community here is always throwing parcels about as traders and members exchange parts. First delivery, no knock, no buzz, little "we missed you" slip with a faint X in the "somewhere safe, shed" box. Second delivery, no knock, no buzz, no "we missed you", yet website said delivery had been attempted. Phoned up to query this, sometimes they have temp drivers or the driver might have just run out of "we missed you" slips. I need the parts so I do the 2 hr round trip to my local depot (OK, I admit, part of me wanted to do the drive, not even had my zed a month yet and the zeditus is making me burn far more miles than I do normally ) Third delivery, not even put on the van. ETA still said the same day but it had not got to the local depot in time so the van had gone without it. So I ask if I can pick it up that day as I know some courier companies get funny if you try to pick up before first delivery attempt is made. I get told they have no direct contact with the depot, some are fine with this, others aren't so I will just have to wait an hour for the depot to respond to their message asking if it's possible. Next hour I get told the depot's system went down and they are busy working to get it up and running and won't have visibility on my item until they do. Fine, they are having a bad day, but the question was do they accept collections before first delivery attempt has been made, that's a procedure thing and they do not need to track my parcel on the system to know what their own procedures are. I get told they will put a high priority question through to get an answer. After 5 phone calls each an hour apart to give the depot time to respond I finally get my answer, yes I can pick it up today. By now I'm in a foul mood over the whole thing and do the 2 hr return trip to the local depot again. When I get there the exasperated lady says she'd told central that they couldn't do it today as they didn't have the staff to go searching for my package. Not the message I was given, I was just told to wait a few hours. She goes off to search for it anyway, takes a while but they do find it. I told my supplier to recover the courier cost for the second delivery but they told me their agreement gives them no option to recover costs in the event of a failure. UKMail have absolutely no accountability with their business clients as they do not do refunds if they fail to deliver! UKMail's facebook page is flooded with irate customers spouting abuse. Now I've seen the odd foul comment here and there on public facebook pages, but UKMail is by far the worst I have ever seen. So, if you're getting something delivered, first check to make sure it's not going by UKMail as they are a long way away from being an effective courier company. Maybe in year or two they will have taken the kick up the arse they need to sort this mess out, but right now, avoid!

  19. try the fuse first if both front and rear have stopped. while both pumps can have gone at the same time it is more likely that a single thing has failed, ie the fuse.
  20. yeah, some OEM springs from a forum member. post up in the wanted section, last week a few people had sets going in the south east, so i guess there will be some kicking about up north too. or try some of the forum traders too, some can source new and some can source 2nd hand. zmanalex did a much better quote for a 2nd hand part than the breakers yards did. you're in the right place to get the best price and set of options compared to just talking to a dealership
  21. can you guys find the amazon ones again? looks like i'll have to live with a reoccurring fault light for a bit as an air sensor is on it's way out, but there are more critical bits to fix first. i'd hate to ignore a check light thinking it was a known problem only to find out it was a new fault. so all i need is the ability to see the code then reset the light if it's the code i'm expecting.
