I'm not religious myself, but I see no harm in religion. Most faiths teach a decent set of rules for living and there's no doubt it has made better people out of many.
It is, however, the descriptive factor in many a case of violence, war or terrorism - but that's the media for you, coupled with a collective fear of anything that's different.
Unfortunately, you can not explain the world away with fact or logic, no matter how hard you try. The reality is, most of the universe we perceive and exist in remains unexplained, and I suspect it will always remain that way. While this is true, nobody can dismiss anybody's faith or spiritual beliefs.
For me, there's a distinct line between organised religion and having a spiritual belief or viewpoint. Some people and their beliefs I would describe as nuts, but it's not for me to judge.
