  1. Yeah I thought so too.. All the 350's Buttons light up right? I heard some talk when I was finding part numbers to get the right buttons for this car that some people didn't get their buttons to illuminate? Surely that's not true.
  2. My Tuner in Pennsylvania sent me the first ROM to start the Tuning process -- Included a basic new Map for the Mods I have, Valet Map, and Enabled Cruise Control (upgraded ECU from Base Model to Touring Model). So I went ahead and Finished up the final installs on the Digital Cruise Circuit Switches for Clutch and Brake: Then Successfully Changed/Flashed the ECU from Base to Touring via Uprev/Osiris Cable, OBD Port, and Laptop. So far so good. Cruise works like a champ, Car feels much better, and for some reason it shifts better? (Maybe I knocked something around installing the switches.. shrug.) Now time to Log Data via Cipher and get the Tuner to properly Dial it in over the next week or two.. Man, Love having Cruise control. (I know this is like what everyone has.. as like 1 percent of 350's are Base models.. but when you don't have it ,.. you notice it (least I do ). I'll post some Video of the Live Data as it's insanely cool .. and unbelievable how it displays/reads out.... as I do some Pulls for my Data Logs for the Tuner.
  3. Finished up Cruise Control / Audio today. Surprisingly it went smoothly, no mistakes, etc. Took about 20-30 minutes start to finish. Some pics for the build log: Steering Wheel Before: Removal of the Tamper Proof T-30 6mm Bolts: Steering Wheel Off,.. all in at this point. -- If anyone does this, keep in mind not to let the Spiral move around (ie: Don't let it rotate on you without correcting): Steering Wheel out - In pieces - Horn Springs and T-30 Torx Bolts out, etc.. Wheel back in - Lined up - Only Airbag left Replaced the T-30 Tamper Bolts with Non Tamper, added Loctite: All done -- Buttons Illuminate with Headlights.: Ready to finish my Tune now,.. will have the file to Flash over Next week, and Cruise will be active, and Car will be tuned (doing it myself with Vince at R/T Tuning Adjusting the Data Logs from Osiris, etc.)
  4. Octet I've decided you are nothing but a troll that puts a Smiley face next to your posts. You have not offered anything constructive in any of your posts in my threads. If it bothers you that I write lengthy posts and film things.. there is an easy way around that.. Don't look at it. I haven't said much so far, but this is like the 4th+ time you've commented with the exact same point.
  5. Hey guys,.. I have searched, and for whatever reason I can't find the guide I've run across before.. I am about to Tune my car.. and need the Cruise and Set buttons working to change maps.. I have them here, just need to install them. I know you need to remove the air bag to do so, so I'd like a guide on it to glance over before I start.. I've already grabbed the Torx bit set, and have the controls.. I just would rather glance at something before I get started. I know one exists as I've seen enough to know that I need the Torx bit(s) to remove some parts.. I just can't find it again. Any help? links? etc.. These are the buttons -- They go on both sides.. to replace the blank grey panels I have now... (They just plug into the factory harness as even the bases have them built in). (The flash tune will enable the cruise). http://www.courtesyparts.com/25550n-switch-assy-steering-350z-z33-2006-centhusiatouringtrackgt-roadster-2007-centhusiatrack-roadster-p-614760.html?cPath=714_715_751_755& I know it's fairly straightforward,.. but.. I would, Appreciate any links, help, etc. Thanks,
  6. Oh wow didn't realise the US version doesn't have them. It's a nice feature, although it would be better if they folded when the car is locked and unlocked as you said. I did notice last night however, if you fold them in and switch the switch back to the unfold position once the engine has been switched off, they will fold open once you start the engine. And you have smaller parking spaces!? They were mahoosive last time I visiited! Andy somehow jacked up the quote system lol.. So everything I wrote seemed like it was what he wrote unless you were paying attention. He said the UK had smaller parking spaces, as opposed to the US. Which makes sense given the land mass. Even with our 320 million people, the US is absolutely Huge, and the UK can fit within one of our larger states quite comfortably.. But that's cool about the switching and opening on engine start.. does it remain this way, or do you have to fold them in everytime you shut the car off ? I mean it's not a big deal.. my mirrors fold by hand if needed -- It'd be a total cosmetic thing/cool factor -- If it were $100 or so to mod it up I'd go for it, but I'm thinking it's likely not going to be anywhere near that cheap. I have seen some posts about people who have added it to the US cars,.. but don't remember the costs. Here's a fact about the 350 -- Aside from 2008 .. they made them in 2002.. about 13,000 for the US,.. extrapolating this,.. the 2002 year of production makes the 02 manuf. models the second rarest year.. the rarest year is the 08's due to being the last production model before the switch to the 370. Here's a breakdown of the US made model production numbers by year for the 350 Zed.. I think these numbers can be roughly extrapolated to give an idea of which years , worldwide, were more popular than others (in sales/production numbers anyway). As I suspected the 2003 models are the most popular (more of them exist than any other year)... Seems you find a TON of '03's for sale, and many people own them. You can really get a great deal on an 03 now.. I'm afraid we're going to have teenagers buying up high mileage 11 year old Zeds for a few thousand dollars or so.. and doing very bad , bad things to them
  7. Not sure.. I think the obvious answer are the Black, Silver, White and Red -- generally go in the top 3.. (Now which is 1, or 2, or 3.. I dunno.) Here are the sales figures for the heck of it: (US only) So for "rarity" the 2008's are the most rare, followed by 2002 (Doesn't list the '09 350's) .. That always confused me,.. as I initially though 08 was the last technical year they were produced. Perhaps the 09's are listed as 08's? Shrug. Anyhow.. the only thing I could scrounge from the net was that The United States received, in total, 1,150 Solar Orange (Orange Zeds) . So I think we can safely say Orange was rougly 0.007% of the total 161,878 sold in the US. My math could be wrong.. just took 1150/total .. Bottom line, I'd say it's the rarest production color . Also caught this bit of info on US color's: USA Red White Silver Black - Totals MY07 - 166 285 139 79 = 669 MY08 - 220 358 182 177 = 937 Total - 386 643 321 256 = 1606 Gaum and other US Territories Red White Silver Black Totals MY07 - 0 0 0 0 = 0 MY08 - 2 1 1 3 = 7 But it looked limited (I think it's Nismo related..).. shrug.
  8. It took me 3 weeks to finally notice this switch haha This "feature" wasn't on US market cars -- I was like, no kidding?? I'm going to find that button now lol.. then read a little and found out it is a Japanese feature that is also avail to UK cars.. but not US. Le sigh.. I like the folding mirrors.. I'd really like them to correspond with when the car is locked and unlocked.. IE: Lock folds mirrors in.. Unlock folds them out -- Or even coolor.. Lock folds mirrors in.. unlock keeps them in.. but, starting the engine causes them to unfold Wonder how much those kits run to make a US car fold auto? tsk tsk.. So I guess the fact here is US cars do not have the folding mirrors! But UK/Japan vehicles do (I don't think ALL models do in UK, but probably most.. it may have been an option of some sort.. but maybe they all have them.) --That said, not sure what is special about Europe that requires folding mirrors that the US wouldn't lol..
  9. If you hear what sounds like a little disturbing noise coming from your engine while sitting at a redlight, or otherwise still with the car on -- Try pressing in the clutch,. it may magically disappear. (I learned that really quick ) Our (for manuals) clutch/flywheels/throwouts etc are quite noisy .. and they were designed this way. (If you don't believe me, go park next to a big wall (preferably metal lol).. and release the clutch pedal in neutral.. with windows down.. if you DON'T at least hear your throw out bearing.. something is odd. )
  10. Turns out the beeps, as I suspected, were the Seat belt "chime".. So far light hasn't come back on.. So maybe all is well?
  11. In US models up through model year 2006, tire pressures could be read on the trip meter. Beginning with model year 2007 Nissan removed the pressure readout and went strictly with the idiot light. Lame, but thanks lol - I'd much rather just have the Tire pressure reading, without a light that can't be turned off.. if it malfunctions the reading would just show wrong numbers/values or -- -- . But.. I *think* the 4 beeps I'm getting may be the seatbelt reminder. And I think it's something that's caught my attention because as I've torn this car apart completely.. one thing I noticed is the plug under the driver seat was not connected (I have manual seats.. so it has to be just a seatbelt plug).. And, I only recently (days/week) or so ago actually thought to go connect it.. -- So maybe I just wasn't hearing the audible chime due to that , and now I am.. and all is good. however, if that is what it is.. Nissan doesn't bug you like most cars.. with the incessant noise when the seatbelt is off that NEVER goes off.. ie you take your seatbelt off for something while driving (at a redlight let's say, to get something in the driver floorboard).. most cars will start with the stupid ding ding ding .. I guess Nissan is like.. you get 4 beeps.. If you can't get it by then, you are part of the herd that needs culling ?
  12. Ok.. got in and light blinks continuously.. so was like oh well for the telling me what the problem is.. And just drove it (intending on going 20 mins or so).. 30 seconds later driving slowly the light goes off.. ok..? So I pull off the road. Turn the car off. Turn it back on.. No more light? Drive more.. park.. turn off, back on.. lights gone? wtf ? (I didn't change tire pressure). There is / are 4 beeps when I turn it on that I didn't used to notice. Some posts say these 4 beeps are the normal and would not happen if you put your seatbelt on (haven't gone back to test that out).. ?? Oh.. have a question -- In these posts i'm reading, people are saying stuff like.. yeah at 85mph mine read 35psi and 38psi -- I'm like how do you know driving the car? Is there a readout that I don't know about for tire pressure in our cars? lol..
  13. The TPMS sensors are attached to the inflation valve stem. Chromatic, The last time I checked, the sensors themselves cost around $60 US each. You need to demount the tire to change one, then activate it so the system recognizes it. The cost your dealer quoted is a bit high unless his labor rate is through the roof. Depends.. I've seen them as cheap as $30 on ebay ( not oem).. And as high as $200 dealer/oem... and everything between. Usually it's going to be ONE sensor I'd think.. so I guess not so bad in parts.. but most places don't let you bring in your own stuff to put on. They want to buy it (to make money off it) charge you a markup on the part and labor.. But.. I've been getting this beeping that's hard to tell where it's coming from that I thought was something to do with my Passport Max.. but it's coming from the left (driver side (near clutch area side) ) of my dash.. It's been like beeping 3 times then just stops.. no lights, just those beeps then done. Maybe that's been a TPMS warning? Then I got a light last night? I'm going to pop the tires all to 35 PSI just to see if it does anything, and then go drive around for 20 minutes .. as they only set/reset at above X MPH/KPH. Maybe.. just maybe it will go away.. shrug. If not,.. I will try to figure out which one it is (surely it's just one).. and then price out getting one cheap but still quality So Probably 60-100 dollars I'm guessing.. then call around to see who can install (ideally needs a calibration/sensor tool thing) -- I know there is a procedure of grounding the TPMS plug like 5-6 times in a KOEO position but meh.. If the tire has to come off the wheel I can't do it myself anyway. I just hate something like a tire AIR monitor being something I have to fork out money for.. It should def. have a dedicated fuse/wire to pull/cut to disable it from going off INCLUDING dash light. I need to ask Uprev, but I doubt they can due to US legal reasons.. if they can disable that light in my tune.. (I'm doing an E-tune with the best Z tuning group in the country.. decided after talking to half a dozen local tuners that I needed to do it myself (the computer/cable flashing and data logging) and have a tuner group who does 20-30 Z's a week Make my Map. But I'll give them a shout to see if they could turn it off anyway.. never know. Is that blinking pattern an auto-diagnostic mode for which sensor is bad .. or do you have to put it in a Diagnostic mode to get the right blinking pattern for FR/RL/RR/RL ? Thanks
  14. Pulling the cluster, then cluster guts is a carrot? Is it? If so.. then I will.. I don't like the dummy light anyway.
  15. Out of the blue,.. as I was pulling into the street to my home,.. the TPMS light suddenly started blinking. I was like hrmm.. odd. Guess a tire is low. So got out and checked the pressures.. Front Left 33 PSI,.. Rear Left 34.5 PSI.. Front Right 33 PSI,.. and Rear Right 32.5 PSI. Nothing seems off there,.. All I've done is add a nice Radar/Laser detector lately.. (Passport Max) -- lol. I've done some reading and this apparently is a common annoying problem with this car and tons of others. It's a Federally mandated "LAW" all cars after 2006 must have TPMS, and it's illegal to turn it off (So I can't even get it turned off with my tune.. ).. WTF? It's like $250-$300 to get just ONE sensor replaced.. again, WTF? Are you kidding me? There's no work around to this, really? Sorry, any imperfection bugs me, especially a blinking light on the dash that has no real fix other than paying hundreds of dollars apparently. Some people have it go off on it's own, come back later.. go off.. etc.. From what I've read so far I don't see anyone really giving me any magical advice here,.. but any ideas here? I didn't bother with it after checking air pressure,.. but it as blinking not just on solid as it just happened literally a few seconds before I Pulled in and parked... I *did* hit a pothole this morning .. but the light didn't come on then.. and I've driven it about 200 miles today,.. most of those AFTER that pothole/bump in the road. TPMS sensors are fine,.. but to have no way to EASILY disable them if there are issues with them is ridiculous. It's a safety feature that is fine,.. but theoretically you could bring a car to the dealer and pay over $1000 just to get your sensors replaced for something I don't use anyways. I check my tire pressure once a month or so, and have never had a problem knowing when my pressure was low from a nail, flat, etc in the past.. Sorry for the rant, I'm tired.. it's late.. and this bugs me. lol. Any ideas? Just how hard is it to remove the cluster to put some tape back there to block that light? I'm about to fork out $700 for my tune,.. and money is really getting tight,.. certainly not going to spend hundreds on a tire pressure sensor... although getting rid of the light (if I can't get it to go off/fix it myself) is a priority. Thanks for listening.. /rant off
  16. Obviously haven't used this method.. but it seems like it is very plausible to work, no reason it shouldn't if you want to bother with it.. http://www.cultofmac.com/43040/get-a-u-s-itunes-account-anywhere-in-the-world-how-to/
  17. Not sure how you could get the App in the UK... I highly doubt they block UK IP's from downloading their App.. they'll take anyone's money I'm sure. It's on Ebay UK for $40-$45 pounds.. http://www.ebay.co.u...cat=0&_from=R40 I can't vouch 100% that it works in the UK,.. but we have another from UK in here who has it.. so it seems likely that it does. I tried to download it and the app store says its not available in the uk Maybe able to download to a laptop and use it via Bluetooth or wifi but won't work in the iPhone here Link for the download is in my post above if anyone wants to try, if you search the app store it isn't there Wonder what Alex is using ? Interesting.. I can definitely send you the "free" app no problem if you know how to manually install files/apps using funbox, or any of the other phone tools.. Now getting the $7 paid version that's really where it's at may be different cause I doubt anyone on Cydia is cracking it lol.. .. I think I'll call the company here in the US Monday and see what is up.. Maybe I can get you guys hooked up.. whoever wants to use it anyways.. I don't see any reasons why the server couldn't be made to be open to UK phones.. Hrmm..
  18. lol you guys.. I had to make that picture "work safe" -- She's not really wearing a top.. in case you just glanced at her ( ) -- Her bikini top is a circle and some lines drawn in MS paint haha.. Linus's Mom's Got it Going on........ (To the tune of that one hit song "Stacey's Mom's got it going on..") -- If you missed it..
  19. Not sure how you could get the App in the UK... I highly doubt they block UK IP's from downloading their App.. they'll take anyone's money I'm sure. It's on Ebay UK for $40-$45 pounds.. http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xu+scan&_nkw=u+scan&_sacat=0&_from=R40 I can't vouch 100% that it works in the UK,.. but we have another from UK in here who has it.. so it seems likely that it does.
  20. Hey guys, I needed a code reader for all the vehicles I maintain and work on.. not so much for the Zed,.. so I was looking at my Autozone here locally, and they were all typical LED displays at best for $200-$300,.. and then I ran across this Little Plug in Bluetooth one. I was like hrmm.. it was the cheapest at $60,.. so I thought I'd try it as it read out to your Smartphone (Iphone, Android .. etc).. I thought maybe, just maybe.. it would give more than codes and give some other info, maybe in real time.. but for so cheap I didn't hold my breath. Though I knew working through a computer it had the ability to read out everything from your ECU essentially.. Well, it blew me away. It's a definite keeper and I'd recommend it to anyone for a single car or to use on your families vehicles, friends, neighbors, customers etc.. It gives codes, but beyond that it gives in real time your Fuel level in percentage , RPM, Speed, All O2 sensor voltages, battery/alternator voltage, Barometric Pressure, Mass Air Sensor readings, Air fuel trims, Air intake temperatures, and the list just goes on.. quite impressive. So I made a video of it.. turned out to be 20 minutes,.. lol. You know me.. But if you want to get an idea of what it looks like you can easily just scan through the video to see the screens . It's called a "U Scan". Even if you don't have it in the UK (which you probably do).. I think it's worth grabbing off Ebay or having it shipped imo.. Check it out:
  21. Nice! Yeah.. my Zed came with a badge job.. I'll have to admit it was done very, very well and I'm particular about how straight something like a badge is.. It's so good I haven't bothered trying to remove it at all.. What do you guys think about the Fairlady Z rebadges to replace the 350 Z badge? Mine has it.. and it's modified now.. and becoming moreso by the week.. and technically all our Zed's are Fairlady's.. I'm not sure how they are perceived. I've been pulled over twice in 3 months now just for having a "high profile" sports car.. (Cops make up some excuse like crime in the area, etc) -- but they always end up saying (once everything checks out and I have no record at all.. ) -- Oh.. so you have one of the Fairlady's huh? Nice! And.. they have no clue what a Fairlady is.. they just know it's a different name than usual. I'm like, well technically it is and briefly describe why.. and then say it's just a regular 350Z with the Badge.. I'd rebadge it in a heartbeat if I thought it had a bad look/ or negative perception.. I just don't see one,... it looks factory, and it's not saying it's something it's not,.. the only thing I could think of is that it may seem a bit "feminine" if anything .. Just curious your thoughts on the Fairlady badge.. as shown here:
  22. Range of items? Is there a link? can you post pictures? Description? I like my Zed paraphernalia
  23. Interesting topic. To me, the Zed has always been one of the FEW sports cars (that is within reach of purchasing for the average person),.. that still exists and is designed proper (looks wise) -- AND has the engine/suspension to back it up. It's bar none the best all around sports car for the money without a doubt right now and frankly for the last 11 years. (Counting the 370..).. I got mine for $17,500,.. but it had 26k Miles,.. so I got a steal but it wasn't a DIRT cheap car which can be had with the Zed now that their are such old models (11 yrs for example).. which can be had from anywhere from 1k - 10k,.. obviously the lower you go the higher miles, lower year, and more beat up it is.. and higher you go (generally) in purchase price the lower miles, newer, and better condition. But, even if you consider brand new 35-40k it's still the best value out there. Where else can you get 300+ HP, with the looks bordering on supercar (definitely as good looking as many porches, better than Corvettes imho,.. and better than many more expensive cars.).. Handling with 4 wheel independent multilink+multilink Over .9G's in Lateral ,.. Sits STOCK on 18" wheels with 225/45 front and 245/45 rear, 71+ mph in 700ft slalom, Beefy Brakes, Stock 0-60 in 5 Seconds, 6 Speed trans, and a Top speed of 170mph (and higher with a few mods and tune).. That doesn't even consider it's looks, it's rather "large" interior that Nissan wisely didn't do a 2+2 with rear seats giving the front two driver/pass a TON of room, Dedicated gauge pods over Headunit area,.. RPM gauge is your main gauge,.. and the list just goes on. To be 100% honest , there isn't another Car I would buy over this '08 350 Zed I have under about 80-100k.. Nothing appeals more to me. But, that's me! In the 90's we had a great deal of sportscars.. from the 300ZedX, Stealth, 3000GT, MR2, Supra, Eclipse (hey they weren't bad looking then), NSX (pricey.. but still proves the point), and more.. Then the 00's+ hit... and Sportscars under 50k just aren't very widespread, and in general cars in general are MOSTLY ugly.. bubble designs, etc. So, again, The Zed is one of the few remaining Beautiful Cars on the road.. and thank god for that eh? I mean look at it.. everyone can't keep their hands off them
  24. Not that many goodies really.. I have had many boxes of parts I've installed as you can see in my build thread.. But as for detailing.. yes, the weather is here.. but for where I live the forecast from April till Oct is: Highs 95-110F (40c-44c) with 85-100% humidity and a chance of showers (literally that's everyday... lol). So actually summer brings more rain, and ridiculous humid unbearable heat. That said,.. it's time for another wash, and wax.. and some work on the front wheels if that product will do anything.. I'll be sure to video it.. I always do (half the stuff I've video'd is not posted on the forums).. After the next wax I'll do a walk around video of the car. If the stuff takes the imbedded stuff off the wheels I'll definitely do a video of it working.. as that will be a great surprise. And.. if I ever find the tire shine I"m after I'll show you guys lol..
