  1. Good choice, mate. I also came to Zedville via the mk2 mr2. (I loved my '2 - the driving position is ultra-comfortable, it has the heart of a go-kart and the pop-up lights used to make my heart sing every time I flicked the on-switch.. but I love my Zed more.. it has the looks AND the grunt!) Your car looks awesome btw. Yes, Falcon Performance is the go-to place around these parts (I'm in Darlo.) I've had my 03 serviced by them 3 times and it runs beautifully (plus the cosmetic work I have had done on the alloys and bodywork has been of the highest quality).
  2. You clearly live a charmed life Lyndzzz!!
  3. Don't know the car. Hmm.. no mention of a new clutch (which is due at 60-70k). Unmatched tyres are also a bad sign but he's put jolly good ones on the back, which is the main thing I suppose. No interior shots? If you go and see it (which costs nothing!) you can check the leather and interior. Obviously, you need to check the paperwork (if there is any). I live in Darlington and I have just had my 03 (80k) serviced by Falcon and it is running superbly so if you want to pop over one evening we can go for a blat and I'll run through what the car was like when I got it and what work I have had done on it in the last 2 and a bit years and what it cost etc.
  4. That's a decent second-hand gear knob! Don't even bother enquiring at Nissan. Their prices are insane. I ended up gettting one brand new from the US for £90 (and then got stung by Customs for another £20). You are right to go after a good gear knob though as, even though it's a small item, a shabby one brings down the whole look of the interior.
  5. Really sorry to see. Looked like a nice Zed. There's some real bell-ends out there that drive around half asleep.
  6. Hmm.. that clutch went quickly but if it's been replaced then job saved for a while.. you pays your money and you takes your choices - you know what they drive like so there shouldn't be too many surprises..

    Cheap MPSS?

Oh tits! Just paid £561 at the weekend!!
  8. I bought mine with Falkens on the back (with about 5mm left on them) and my back end was stepping out off roundabouts and on slow curves at speed (in the dry). Do yourself a favour Mikey and make the right choice! (I had them replaced within a month as the car was telling me things weren't right.)
  9. Am 45 (with a variety of health issues) which is why I decided to live fast and get a Zed!!
  10. Sounds familiar. When I bought my Zed the passenger light was out. Thought it was bulb-related too so I got some LED bulbs. Fitted them in both, switched it on, saw some blue sparks inside the unit and then both were dead. Had Falcon look at the unit and they said it was burnt out and not worth fixing. Picked up a second-hand unit for £15 on ebay and was sorted.
  11. Have never thought of getting a steering lock. The Zed has always seemed fairly impenetrable to me. I would have thought it was more likely to get nicked if they get hold of your keys somehow.
  12. Sorry to hear about your troubles. Hope everything works out for you.
  13. Welcome! I have had my (totally standard) Zed for 2 years and it has improved my life immeasurably. Sure, I got it fairly cheap and have had to spend a few quid on it to get it right but now it drives like a dream. Never thought I would ever drive a car that good. Enjoy your Zed!!

    Breaks squeal

I'd love to get my squeal problem sorted. It just about drove me round the twist last Summer and then I had all new discs and pads fitted in February. Have had the same problem this Summer, although not quite as bad - probably due to the fact the weather has been worse (the squeal is never as bad in Winter). Am going to add the suggestions above to my annual service snag list (thanks T&W and Marcus for your advice). Hopefully, I'll get it sorted out this time round!

  16. Hello from Darlo! Yes, they know a thing or three about Zeds at Falcon. I take my 12 year old 350 down there for services and maintenance and it is currently running beautifully.
  17. Your foot is not heavy. When I got my Zed it had Falken 453s, with some horrendous cheap TDFs (Taiwanese Ditch Finders) on the front. I bought it in October when the roads were wet and I had more than a few brown trouser moments coming off roundabouts (without really pushing my luck at all). The first thing I did was get a set of matched premiums and the whole roundabout-traction-thing was sorted out. Also, where I live the local dual carriageway tends to have standing water on the outside lane after rain but the tyres I'm running seem to carve through without much of a problem. The MPSS tyres are highly rated here so if you go for them you won't go far wrong I'm sure. I went for another brand but you pays your money and you takes your choices. My only advice is not to skimp and get a matched set (they may save your life and/or car one day).
  18. Looks tidy. Reckon it should sell at that price.
  19. I reckon those tyre ratings are about as accurate as me saying I speak French because I got a C in GCSE French. And you are an expert in tyre ratings because..? All I can say is that I speak as I find. The next time I need a full set I'll try out the MPSS and report back on how I find them by comparison. No doubt you will do the same so that you will also be able to give an impartial opinion.
  20. You're right. What you say is GOLD!
  21. The only time I have had an EWL with a performance drop has been due to a failed coil pack. It was intermittent for a couple of weeks then the car starting running like a bag of spanners permanently. Obviously, you need to get a fault reading to be sure.
  22. The last time I saw Eastenders Gary Kemp was in it and Zeds hadn't been invented. This much is true.
  23. I use Goodyear Efficientgrips which have an A rating in the wet. Quieter and less road friction than the MPSS.. Have currently done 15000 in them and the rears still have loads of tread. Never once been surprised by them yet.
  24. Changed mine at around 60k. Must have been a town car lol.
  25. I've got MOT anxiety as well. The test is due in 3 weeks. Don't know why as I have spent £2.5k this year fixing absolutely everything on my 03 (72k miles). Just want it over and done with!
