This is a difficult one...... I go to Goodwood often and the GTR passes the static test easily, but I have been black flagged at 104db. One of the guys I track with is a Goodwood local and the main issue is that the noise limits are set by the council (and monitored). Goodwood as a race track, also closed for quite some time in the past and was then re-opened. I go to Thruxton as well and Im one of the few GTRs that can pass the static noise test (Im right on the limit), but never have an issue during the day. I do completely agree that when people move to the area, knowing that there is a race track there and then complain is just pathetic! Standard testing would be great, as I have just been invited to Brands Hatch 105db static, but 92db on driveby.... GTR will struggle with that. Scary bit is that my GTR is quiet, very quiet...... I have seen others at 116db and upwards.

Thats how they run open pit lanes..... sounds pretty poor, as we have never had a day that bad

I raced an H2 at a charity event last year.... rather quick in a straight line, but not very good in the corners They were supposed to come back this year, I had 50hp more, better launch control and some proper tyres, but alas they never pitched. I did take the 2 riders out in the GTR both thought a touch slow on acceleration, but immense in the corners!! And its even better this year Both the H2 and H2R are pieces of art, stunning to look at

It is a lovely track.... shame you had such a poor experience! Is that 4 in a full day? As the missus and I share the MX5, I go out as passenger a fair bit, but we managed 11 sessions between the 2 of us in a day the last time. When did you go? Many red flags?

Couldnt agree more!! I would rather wait another year and have it be right....

Baby steps

Most definitely! If I can walk away, its all that matters but the GTR still comes out now and then just because its so quick

No worries.... and if you consider the amount of events that I do, the insurance would have cost me a small fortunate by now. Another reason we have started to use the MX5 more on track (and its more fun).

CONGRATS, looks a lovely car.... where are you based? Ducktail bootlid is a personal favourite of mine The forum has a lot of knowledge and is rather active. For me though, its the people that I have met at events, track days, etc. They have been just awesome!!! Have made friends there that will go beyond the current cars that we drive. We spend weekends down at one of their places at least once a month, we do holidays in Europe with a big bunch of owners. Few weeks ago we were in France celebrating someones birthday and then next week we are driving through with a bunch of GTRs. Well the GTR is THE playstation car, so only makes sense that the community moves with the times and goes social media over forums.

I have yet to find an insurance company that I like for track or events like this, so for this I am self insured. Im relatively lucky in the fact that its not a daily car, I do not need a daily car, etc. I used to have track day insurance, but the cost, limits and excess made almost pointless unless the car was a total loss.

Good to hear! Next year I should have my A license

Now that was a good weekend! Left London early, arrived at Brighton seafront at about 0700... my friend who had brought his 700+bhp R33 discovered a coolant leak, so rushed home to swap to the R35, luckily he is not in central. As I am only on a National B license, I could only compete in the handicap class. Came 3rd in that class and was beaten by an Austin Healey and sone other thing that both had -9.5 second handicaps and both ran 18 seconds. So I would have had to have gone sub 10 seconds to beat them. First practice run was without launch control and did 11.51 and my only real run with launch control was 10.94 with 1.84 for the 64ft. I was rather happy with that and think the launch can be better. The launch did feel good though The top 6 for the day were mid 10s and 11s, so with my 1 full run, I would have been 4th overall...... oh well, next year I will have my A license. Some more pics here:- http://s920.photobucket.com/user/grahamcleverly/library/Events/2016/Brighton%20Speed%20Trials Should have a video of the good run on the blackVue, hopefully I will have time to check today. My friend in the other R35 was struggling with traction, so decided to steal my rear wheels 1st run he bogged down, have a feeling it was due to too little power on the launch, but then improved on his final run to 11.3, but was just outside the top 6.

Ok, so another trip away with GTROC and some more pictures. We went to France for a belated birthday and stayed in a chateau in the Epernay region, so lots of champagne and wine! And this was the level of parking we had to contend with

I think its a good looking re-invention of the classic, but as above, the original was ICONIC!!! Doubtful that this one will live up to that.........
