  1. Welcome aboard. Have a look at the members build threads for some great inspiration ~ in particular Octets 370.
  2. Welcome aboard. Have a look at the regional area meets for Zed owners in your area.
  3. Think everyone that uses the forum really appreciates members like you Chromatic who take the time to write DIY guides & advice that helps the greater community. Well done.
  4. I have a 13 plate qashqai Basically it does what is says on the tin I'm on my third one, basic day to day car (mines a company car), I've had nissans for the past 10 years Rob Hang on Rob, ..let me just take my foot out of my mouth, ....that's better ~ what I meant to say is they look sh*t compared to the Zed's. Seriously though sure they're good vehicles but just not to my taste.
  5. I use my Zed daily and may well be taking it on track days at some point as I've done so with most of my previous cars. Not had it that long yet so I missed them all last year. Castle Combe circuit is my favourite for race days/track days and it's the circuit I know best. Have a look in the "Off topic" section as there is an area dedicated to motorsport & track days.
  6. + It look's sh*t imo. Maybe it's amazing to drive though but I doubt it.
  7. I've always trained my own dogs using the same approach, but thats to actually do something, i.e. sit, shake, lie down etc. I doubt i could use the same method of training to train them not to do something. Cant reward them for the barking situation, as they will just guess im giving them treats for barking? Me too but can't you try to use this technique to train them not to bark?.E.g: Tell them not to bark and when they stop you say "good boy" and give them a treat. Not had a real chance to try this myself yet though obviously.
  8. Good advice. Lot's of light gentle coats is the way to do it ~ helps avoid paint runs and will allow each layer to dry properly as it takes time for the propellant to evaporate between layers.
  9. Jealousy is probably the highest cause of road rage against Zed owners I'm sure.
  10. Is it smooth to the touch? If it is and your happy I would tend to leave it. If not then gentle sanding with fine grit wet & dry paper (using water) will help. Depending on how smooth you want it anything from 800 grit -1200 grit would be fine.
  11. Nice looking pair of dogs. If I was training a dog I would always use treats as an incentive & to confirm any good behaviour (with voice at the same time; eg. Good boy). Not had the chance to really train a dog from a pup yet though but have worked with our family dog in this way. Works for the most part but because my Mum let our dog get away with murder as a pup he tends to play up sometimes (barking) & only obeys himself.
  12. Have you had it remapped then? Apparently according to a recent eBay for sale advert if you get a remap & K&N air induction kit the Zed is good for an extra 50bhp.
  13. I can't believe this old chestnut still gets trotted out in 2014. I know what you mean (some cyclists will obviously be vehicle owners & pay the VED etc) but it does annoy a lot of vehicle/road users I believe because of the amount of money that is spent on improving the roads for cyclists making it safer for them to use. Yet the majority of them still constantly flout the laws of the roads they're using, refuse to help themselves by wearing helmets/visible clothes etc and are not accountable for there actions like most other road users are. I mean if a hooded man on a bicycle gets road rage, kicks your car, damaging it and then rides off through a red light and into a park, wtf can you do? He has no insurance, no registration plate and is basically untraceable even if it's caught on camera.
  14. Definitely worth shopping around for insurance quotes ~ try the insurers on here, Go-compare etc and I'd even try ringing a few who aren't on the comparison sites. You can also play around with the insurance quote on comparison website's which does help give you an idea of what might help bring down your quote. E.g: include an older relative (Mum/Dad) as a named driver, reduce your annual mileage, increase your excess, garage the car at night etc. Doesn't sound like that higher quote though tbh for a younger driver.
  15. Great job fitting those lowering springs at home. Good seeing people do it for themselves ~ much more satisfying for you.
  16. As long as it's Super unleaded I'm sure it's all good.
  17. Definitely did the right thing Flex. This guy was obviously a right tool ~ if his driving was that bad & he abused you there is always the Police to report him to but I doubt they'll do f**k all. My advice is to forget about it now and don't let it fester on your mind. Not worth thinking about the d**k head imo. Hopefully he'll get his one day.
  18. Welcome aboard. Lovely Zed and the wheels look much better in black.
