Recompense is what you deserve and is also your right, how you go about getting it is another matter, maybe speak to the mob that damaged the wheel in the first place again in a sensible and calm manner? You did the right thing initially by staying calm when it happened.
This isn't just a little scratch or two this is wilful neglect caused by an inexperienced fitter and to that end the company are responsible for that and making good the damage,/replacing the wheel/s. The whole situation is further exacerbated by the fact that you say these wheels aren't available any longer, this is not your fault and it should fall at the doorstep of the "fitters", they did not ensure due care and attention were carried out and they now have to face the consequences. Small claims court maybe another alternative but I don't remember what the maximum amount is you can claim. I'm sure someone will tell us soon. Ricey on here is brilliant at writing letters of complaint and fighting his corner maybe PM him too and see if he will advise you.
I know you have previously said that the wheels cannot be repaired because they are chrome but I'm sure there must be wheel repairer/chrome plating combination somewhere that can offer a solution and to that end I would contact Lepsons http://www.lepsons.com and seek their advice initially. They did work for me and they really are quite professional, if any one knows I'm sure they will.
Hope you get it sorted mate
