I always like the look of black rims with silver edging. Probably not helping much am I! Does this mean there will be set of Rims for sale soon??

It's in for a service soon so I'll get them to look at it. The thread I read said a bolt somewhere behind the lower boot trim can come lose and it's that, that causes the knocking. It sounds slightly duller in the car so thought something might be twanging the petrol tank. I have SSD so have zero direction ability with my hearing, always makes finding things like this a pain!

Hi, May cars started making a knocking noise from the rear. It doesn't have to be when driving, I can just bounce the back by hand and it will make the noise. I think the clips may have been added by the garage when I had the clutch changed. They mentioned something about a heat shield being rusty/falling off and clipping it back in place. So should I look into getting new cats or is it just the heat shield that need replacing? Any tips on reducing the cabin noise?

Hi, Just trying to understand my set up as the exhaust was on the car before I brought it and there wasn't any paperwork. Looks like a Cobra resonated system to me including Y pipe, but what about the rusty old Cats? I find the cabin noise a bit intolerable on the motorway with the hum around 70-80 being the worst, so wondering what I could do.

Finally got mine installed today. It may be worth pointing out that if you have small hands you can get the VS fitted through the air filter hole, no need to take apart the hole thing. I just lifted out the air filter and had enough room to get in it. It wasn't even that tight. Cheers flyboy.

Someone on jalopnick researched the plate and it had been on the car since 1991.

Slightly strange that the plate isn't on the car in the pictures on Autotrader? Makes me think pictures are old. If it is the guy (DarrenB) from the forum he seems legit. Have you tried flicking the fans to get them going? That worked on mine, so I know they are not completely dead. Still getting the whole unit replaced though.

I got mine replaced with an Exedy on recommendation from Japex. Had my slave cylinder (clark motorsports), flywheel (japex) and clutch (japex) replaced It came to just just shy of £1k (inc labour)

Might be good to state the colour they are now and the colour you want them to be. If they are similar tones you might get away without an under coat.

Turn the ignition on and then turn the air con on full pelt, both fans should start up after a few seconds. When mine were on the way out the one fan would start and the other would need a little push.

All pics work fine for me on Chrome. Its the hosting site being blocked, (I'm at work), don't normally find that an issue with this forum.

All the pics in post 1 and some in post 2 are missing? (I'm using Chrome) And for some reason the wheels in Post 3 seem to have BMW badge on them

The main reason I don't do this is that it would bring me 20mm closer to kerb rash every time I park.
