If you contact your insurance company this will be on your record for five years whether your fault or not. You don't know what hidden damage could've been done that you can't see. Don't contact the insurance company as no one was injured (plus see above) Her insurance premium is going to go up if she claims on itI'd get a quote, if she can afford it out of pocket do it that way, if not go through insurance.

Seatbelt not retracting all the way... MOT Fail?
samsniss350z replied to slimjim's topic in 350Z General
Both of my old 200SX's did this and i put it down to wear and tear, i never had a problem with MOT's. Saying that though they only sagged about 3 inches and a gentle shove and they retracted to their normal position. My '04 ZED does this as well and again no MOT fail and again a similar amount of sag. I think it must be a Nissan thing. I've never even had an advisory. -
Balerion - The Black Dread - The Resurrection
samsniss350z replied to rodgeevans's topic in Member Build Projects
Wow, someone has been busy. I think your engine bay looks s*^t hot, i've never seen black mixed with yellow and it looks great. The Nismo LMGT4's are my favourite wheels of all time especially in silver. I know they are a few years old now but they still do it for me. I'd be inclined to go for the silver or else your car might be a bit of black overkill, but hey its your vehicle. I also think your Z burgers would look brilliant in gold. I saw a guy on an American site and he'd gone as far as gold plating his and set against the black they were the best 'burgers' i'd seen in my life. Looking forward to seeing the end product. -
Can i latch onto RTBicuits many additional threads, I'm sure he'd be compliant, if not, forget the outline of the ZED. could i just have the lettering in white as i'm a third of the way to 300.

I'm not from the Luton area but just a couple of questions i'd be inclined to ask the dealer. When did the car come into the UK? The Fairlady Z was never imported into the UK as it is a Japanese Domestic car. Does it have any service history? Does it have any paperwork from the Japanese auction house? These are very meticulous and are graded as to the condition of every panel, any extras etc. Chances are there won't be any service history from garages in Japan. Japanese Domestic Market Cars usually have a lower spec than the UK model cars e.g. cloth seats. Also there is usually only a bank of switches on the right hand side of the steering wheel as opposed to both on the UK cars. The most important is that JDM cars are not undersealed and will suffer really badly in the UK winter, they are usually restricted to 112mph and you need to change the speedo from KPH to MPH. You also need a rear fog light either attached or fitted into the right rear light cluster. There are also a few other things that omit my memory but here are a few questions worth asking. I don't wish to put you off as the ZEDS are fantastic cars to own, but this is why imports are usually cheaper than UK cars.

I read somwhere that the Z33 was deigned to run reliably for 200.000 miles. This obviously means that it has been regularly serviced by a reputable garage and anything that is getting worn is replaced. The general concensus is that 100,000 motorway miles is better for the car than a 3 mile trek down to Tesco's to do the shopping. As long as for the first three years or 75000 miles its serviced by a decent Nissan garage its going to carry more weight than 3 years service at Joe's shed (i'm not decrying Joe here) next to a scrapyard. Plus you're not going to screw up your warranty. My clutch went at 35000 miles, i;ve had new cars before a never had a clutch go before 78000 miles and Nissan were of little help. There is a Zed for sale on Piston Heads this week with over 183000 on the clock. This is something i'd steer well clear of as i can imagine the ancilliaries are going to start falling to bits pretty quickly. There's no guarantee buying second hand other than to take a member with you for some expert advice. Mine is on 75000 and still runs beautifully and i wouldn't change it for the world.

Let us know what exciting news you have for those who don't live down south Mark, I'm in the Midlands about 95 miles away from London and I'm interested to know just what you have in mind.

I'm trying to find out who sent me a failed n/s window motor this week. I remember that we exchanged a couple of messages last year but have no note of the name and can't find anything in my message file. Can you please pm me as not only do i wish to thank you, i also want to repay you for the postage and packing. I've looked through the for sale section and the three forums for the 350Z but again can't find the original posting. Thanks. SAM.

You've let a Spurs supporter into your home? Mine is chained up in one of the sheds at the bottom of the garden. All he talks about are the 'glory days' of the seventies.

WOW, Danny, i've just clicked onto your link and the quality of your work is fantastic. Get Christmas out of the way and then start saving the pennies for some internal work.

Hey Yarlsberg, i don't wish to denigrate Leonk's work but there is a thread on my350z.com about refurbishing knackered, sweaty gearknobs and judging by the before and after photo's this one has turned out really well. I can't remember the URL but i think it was in the internal modifications. I'm going to have a go at mine in the new year and although its not as bad as yours it does have 75k on the clock and i replaced it with a sparco earlier in the year. I totally agree with 4RE Leather, never chuck anything away.

Wanted for my '04 ZED both front and rear splash guards, ideally in Azure blue but not bothered as i can get them sprayed. Would prefer OEM's as i've heard that pattern guards don't fit too well. Thanks

Hi, i wonder if you could help me as i seem to be having a problem as i've got a 'blocked' sign below any messages i write. I had this trouble with Mark at Abbey who thought i'd blocked him from a conversation and I've just written a message to RTbiscuit enquiring about having some vinyl graphics made up. I pressed send and 'blocked' came up in red letters. I've been trying to get this sorted with RTbiscuit since the start of November and am curious as to whether he's getting my messages. Have i pressed a key that i shouldn't have? Can you help at all? Oh and a Happy Christmas to you all. SAM

Looking to buy a 350z, have question....
samsniss350z replied to z350convert's topic in 350Z General
You'll wake up with a smile on your face , when you climb in your smile will get that bit wider, you'll drive for a while and your jaw will be stretched to the limit and best of all this smile won't leave your face, even when you put it away for the evening. I've had standard sports cars before and also cars that have been stupidly tuned and i can say that without a shadow of doubt this has brought more smiles and grins than any other. Its compliant over rough roads (unless perhaps you're running 20" rims and coilovers, the engine has plenty of torque. The only thing that niggles me is that Nissan could have spent a little more time making use of the dead space behind the seats but all in all i can say that my next car will be a late 350 or a 370. Happy driving and Welcome. -
Thanks guys, looks like i'm owed a couple of beers lol.

Hello and a Merry Chtistmas and a Happy New Year to all Zed owners. I've got a query about the red reflectors in both the driver and the passenger door, can anybody clear up or solve an argument between me and a couple of mates who are insistent that these are lights and should light up when you open either door regardless of whether the lights are on or not. I'm of the opinion that they are reflectors (mainly coz they've never worked since i bought the car at the end of August. Can anybody clear this up for me. The car is an '04 with GT pack (not sure if this makes any difference), Thanks in advance.

samsniss350z replied to UNABASHED's topic in Zeds grouped by colour
Jeez i just love those wheels -
Laser do a variety from £30 upwards each comes with a range of pads too. The cheap one plugs into your fag lighter the rest are mains. They range from 150mm to 230mm and all are orbital.

I used Arm & Hammer toothpaste after seeing a link on the net and surprise surprise with just a little drop of water it worked a treat, keeps your lenses fillings free as well.

moving the ESP switch next to the heated seats switch
samsniss350z replied to samsniss350z's topic in 350Z Technical
I've never accidently switched on the heated seat switches that was why i mentioned using the blank on the bank of heated seat switches. I wouldn't be able to use an air fighter style swiych in that position as i;d have nowhere to rest my left elbow, the switch would just get in the way and become a pain in the arse for other reasons If i were yo use an air fighter style switch then i'd definately would have to mount the switch on the dash somewhere. This may be easier in some respects from a wiring point of view, but i'd rather use the blank that is already there rather than drilling holes in the dash. -

samsniss350z replied to samsniss350z's topic in 350Z Technical
MR35LEE, many thanks, electrics have never been my strong point, but this sees to make perfect sense and will stop me fromm scratting about looking for the relevant switch. I'm really surprised Nissan put the switch in such a daft place, Looks like thats a job for tomorrow sorted out then. Thanks. -
I'm wondering if anyone has tried this before and if so with any success. I find it a bit of a pain in the arse having to look down to switch off the ESP switch and was wondering how difficult it would be to transfer the switch to the blank of the seat heater bank. if i could find a switch with a similar sort of stiffness so it could not be turned on/off accidently just like the seat heater switches. If this is not suitable to have the switch placed by the seat heater switches then maybe i could find somewhere else on the dash. Has anybody tried this? or placed the switch somewhere more accessible on the dash?

I had the strangest experience yet in my ZED, the other day when trying to accelerate away from a junction covered in soaking wet leaves, i had the TCS on and went to accelerate away and it was as though the engine was suddenly starved of fuel and almost died completely. This has never happened before and was quite unnerving as i was pulling out from a side road onto a main road, i backed off the throttle completely as though pulling away again and all was well, this freaked me out hat much that my heart was virtually bouncing through my rib cage. Is this an example of the TCS working at its hardest? Or is it something else i'm unaware of and need to get checked out?

I'm wondering if anyone can help me, i'm after a SCORPION catback exhaust for an '04 ZED. I live in Rugby which is between Coventry, Northampton and Leicester, and i seem to be coming up against a wall of silence. I've seen a few cars on the roads sporting them although its difficult to get them to stop. If anyone has any ideas or contact numbers i'd be very grateful. Look forward to hearing from someone soon. Regards, SAM
