  1. Looks like I've started something! At some point, I'd like to buy the Nismo v3 kit, but somehow feel that bolting expensive fibreglass to my car in some way just feels 'wrong'. I know the counter argument is to buy the real thing which of course is 400% more expensive. If only the stuff wasn't so brittle that if you so much as stare at it the wrong way it falls to pieces...
  2. Evening all, Had a look on the internet as it's a question that I've been pondering for a while, and am interested to hear your views on it. I don't know the intricacies of the development process, but I assume that a fibreglass kit is produced from a mould of sorts, but what gauges the price that a bodykit or part should be sold at, on the basis that most kits need a certain amount of modification by the bodyshop to fit properly? I know for a lot of kits there are import duties to pay and that original Nissan parts aren't the easiest to come by, but I just wondered if I'm missing something, I mean £350 for a FRP spoiler, I know profit margins have to be squeezed but it just feels so....overpriced to me? Am I alone in thinking this, in which case I'll grab my coat on the way out Jez

  4. Fllux capacitor sounds about right Mine is definitely a UK GT model, it has to be for something surely, is it related to back pressure or something more technical that I understand!?
  5. I spent a couple of hours this morning putting my air filter back to standard, but I noticed something odd on the factory intake tube that runs between the maf sensor and the engine. There is a smaller, irregular shaped tube that doesn't go anywhere, but bolts on to the top of the engine cover (the silver part). Does anyone know what this is and what it does? Jez
  6. Mine is gunmetal, but SORN in my drive until she comes back out in April, hurry up winter!
  7. What if a few of us were able to measure the bumper to toe hook distances and report back?
  8. Is it a happy coincidence that so many are sold during the winter months?
  9. Oh, and I'm actually called Jez, sloutrou is a username that stuck when I used to own a TT supra...
  10. Just a suggestion, would it be viable to have a group buy on the reg plate holder? Don't know how or if that would be viable but I'm sure plenty would want one! Jez
  11. I like what you've done with the purple - silver gradient on the engine cover, not seen that before
  12. If there is a forum member near you, ask them if they wouldn't mind giving you an honest opinion, especially of you're thinking of buying privately.
  13. Could someone explain to me why aftermarket air filters are an advantage over the stock airbox? I'm currently in the process of doing the reverse, and replacing my supposedly better cone filter with a stock 2004 airbox, is it that much a limitation in the combustion process? I'm intrigued, and damn certain that third party companies can't have spent the millions in research and development that Nissan spent when they designed the car? Jez
  14. I'd liken it to having won a lifetime's supply of chocolate, you feel very spoiled but before long you're sick of the stuff and the novelty's worn off. Can you afford a cheap runaround for the work run? Only a suggestion, I bought a shed for the winter but have decided to keep it long term for the daily commute as the Z feels waaaaaay more like a treat when I get to take her out at the weekend I know it might not be financially viable, just thought I'd throw that out there. I know it would be a really, really hard car for me to ever want to get rid of.
  15. I'm interested in the TS 2007-2008 hump bonnet, but in the notes it says hood pins required, I'd be happy to add my name to the list but don't want to have extra work to fit, anyone know if it's just a straight swap?
  16. They're about £700 new from Nissan, been after a pair for ages, may have to just bite the bullet, they say you can't take it with you...
  17. Doesn't this hold true with main dealerships too? I think Nissan constantly gets a bad rap for the mechanical service side of things, when at the end of the day it comes down to the level of competence of the staff. My car ONLY goes to a dealership, regardless of cost, and the guys there do a great job. I get a hire car, free coffee and leave feeling like I'm a valued customer. My wallet is always appreciably lighter than going to an independent, and they even fitted my Milltek Just saying, the company who's badge is on the front of our cars should have a fairly good idea of how they should be maintained....or am I wrong?
  18. That's the one! Bugger, I always thought that was for the bonnet stay, not anything to do with the alarm. Could someone enlighten me as to how it is fixed to the bonnet, all I seem to have now is a separate white piece of plastic where the domed cap used to be?
  19. Hi all, In the wind this morning my bonnet rod fell, slamming the bonnet shut and snapping what appeared to be the grommet or stay that the top if the rod rests in. Does anyone have a pic of what it should look like, or a pic of the inside of the bonnet so I can recall what it should look like? Thanks Jez
  20. It's a bit of a cliche I know, but they say 'you can't put a price on safety'. I know tyres are expensive, but for your own peace of mind couldnt you chuck them on a credit card or something? I would personally water my fuel down before I skimped on tyres, they are the only thing holding you to the road at the end of the day. Not trying to preach or anything, just be careful out there as temps are dropping and we've had a few icy mornings so far.
  21. I would love a set of MPSS's on mine, take it easy over the winter because I'm guessing the insane grip you're getting from them will be non-existent in the snow.
  22. Correct me if I'm wrong, but are the MPSS not Michelin's highest performing summer tyre, or have I missed something?
