  1. Good choice, most of my disposable income goes to CleanYourCar and ZMANALEX I bought the DAS6-pro with the orange and spiderweb scholl pads with scholl S40 and S17 compounds. I wasn't brave enough to use the S17 so went with the S40 but didn't get much change from the five or six passes I did. Theres some superb guides on the website detailingworld.co.uk you might want to have a look at, in particular http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/images/misc/dapolishing.pdf Jez
  2. Hi all, In my quest to restore my car from a serious amount of neglect, there are some interior parts I'm looking for. I am looking for new parts, specifically the silver rear strut cover, and both door button trims, all of which have been wrapped in imitation carbon fibre. The only places i know of are direct from Nissan at huge cost, and a couple of US part web sites with huge import duties to pay. Are there any forum members which could help, I use ZMANALEX for all my mechanical parts and thought there might be an equivalent member for interior bits and bobs. Thanks, Jez.
  3. Cheers Jez, that wasn't something I'd thought of. Is there any chance that it might be something that just needs greasing up rather than dismantling the clutch?
  4. Hi all, About this time last year I had my clutch replaced as it was deemed by Nissan as 'heavy and worn', I had all sorts of other parts that needed replacing around about the same time, but that's another story. I ordered the OEM clutch kit from ZMANALEX and had it fitted, all fine until round about the beginning of this year when, from cold, when the clutch is down, it makes the exact same noise as this video: I asked ZMANALEX about it being an issue with the throwout bearing, but he said there was one provided in the kit, so I can only assume this was replaced at the same time. But the noise, which is usually only from cold, is driving me insane and I don't know what it could be apart from the bearing! Anyone else had the same issue who might have a remedy, it's at Nissan on Thurday for a P3 so will probably have to ask them to fix it at whatever cost Jez
  5. I bought one of these: http://www.cleanstore.co.uk/products/Product.asp?ID=5646 It's a semi pro product with a semi pro price, but it has far more pressure than the cheaper models and comes with an armoured hose that won't kink when you're dragging it round the car. I wouldn't buy another Karcher, they don't use brass pumps on the cheaper models so given a couple of years they usually break down.
  6. Hi all, I'm hoping to purchase some rear led lights for my 2004 at the end of this month, which made me wonder, what else could you buy if you had £300 to spend? It could do with a service but there are more exciting things to spend my money on, I'm sure Jez
  7. Hi all, I'm looking to purchase some late model headlights for my 2004, if I was to have them imported would the beams be correct for this side of the country? I didn't realise that certain parts, even after tax and import duty are cheaper to import than to buy over here. Jez
  8. Evening all, I have the factory touring alloys which appear to have been sprayed/anodized/power-coated at some point in a satin black, however this is what has happened in various areas on each wheel: Anyone know the best way of repairing it bar a respray? I was hoping that a reasonable colour-matched spray paint or brush kit might do the job. You could almost flake it off with your finger Jez
  9. I had a new OEM clutch fitted last year, it will be quite light initially and over the space of a week or so it will auto adjust back to its usual heaviness
  10. Another tip is to take the nozzle off the hose when you've finished washing the car, and sheet the water across the roof. This will minimise water spotting, particularly if you live in a hard water area.
  11. Have a look over on DetailingWorld Silicone blades are supposed to be as bad as car wash brushes, and chamois have made way for microfibre towels, loads of stuff on CleanYourCar.co.uk to spend your hard-earned on!
  12. I honestly don't know what/how much of a difference it would have made, I guess I wanted to feel like I was buying a true set and not just a set of fronts. I don't know a lot about tyre sizes and offsets etc. They've gone now, which I kind of expected given the price, so my quest continues...
  13. No luck I had a look at the inside face of every wheel, all four were stamped front so I've not bought them. I don't know how much of a genuine difference this makes and whether I've missed a good deal or not?
  14. Brilliant, cheers Alex. I've wanted Rays since I've owned the car so want to be sure, and they're selling for £300 for the set
  15. Thanks for the info all Is there something written on the wheels themselves that I will need to check, I'm concerned that someone might be selling four front or four rears.
  16. Hi all, Just about to have a look at some Rays for sale to replace my factory standard alloys, is the 18x8jj correct and is this what it should be for all four wheels? Want to make 100% sure I'm buying a good set. Thanks Jez
  17. That's my problem, Nissan are aware that the car has previously been serviced by them during its' life, but I don't have a physical copy of any Nissan history so as far as a future buyer is concerned the car has only the history since I've owned it. I've since ordered a new service book from ZMANALEX and will be booking it in next month for a P3, fingers crossed they don't come back like they did last year with an estimate for £5,200 worth of work
  18. Hi all, Do you know who or where I could get hold of a brand new blank service book for my 350? For reasons I can't fathom, Nissan appear to have a partial service history held on their systems but I have no printed record whatsoever. Do I need to order one direct from Nissan, or are they available elsewhere? I have looked on eBay but there are quite a few different types. Jez
  19. Hi all, Does anyone know of a reputable garage in Kent that would look after my Z, in terms of servicing, MOT, maintenance etc. I am in The Dover area and wondered if anyone had personal experience. I don't mind using Nissan but would love to hear if anyone has a preferred garage Jez
  20. Maybe I was being harsh, I do like the Vred's, but they've not worn well and I've had a few moments on the roundabout where I've taken them up to what I thought was within their limit of traction, but they broke away on two seperate occasions. I guess it's about testing the limit of any tyre so you know how far you can push them.
  21. I've got Vredestein Ultra Sessanta's on mine at the moment, the tread pattern looks cool but I'm afraid that's about it, got about 9k out of them so far and the remaining grip is virtually non-existent, Michelin PS2's for me next I think.
  22. Hi all, Is it just me or does the Z spur on other drivers to not only tailgate you (which is bound to happen), but also for the car in front of you to spot you in its' rear-view and accelerate as fast as possible away from you as they can? Almost like we have a sign attached to our bumpers saying 'Run away, run away, I'm coming for you'? Just wondered whether it happens to everyone or just me, I usually react by driving sloooooowly so they wonder what the point of it all is. And what's up with BMW drivers, why do they hate me so much? Jez
  23. Look to see if there are any hairline cracks on either side, mine had one on each side!? and a new subframe involves dropping most of the rear of the car out, it's finding a garage who is prepared to do that sort of work.
  24. My pet hate is at night, when you see a car approaching behind you, and comes so close you can't see the headlights any more. Is my Zed badge not big enough for you?
  25. Boo I wonder if it operated the climate control in a particular way, or if the import had a heating element built into the windscreen?
