  1. Hey all, I'm looking for some new side repeaters as one of mine is marked quite badly, noticed it after washing the car yesterday. There are a few that look like the originals on eBay, but wondered if anyone sells the genuine Nissan ones. Thanks Jez
  2. Sorry I jumped the gun - it's £30 for the court summons fee, which is approximately £29 more than the item is worth lol
  3. Hi all, A bit of background, I've worked in IT on a reasonable wage for the last five or six years, in the last couple I've come to a strong conclusion that I could be a lot more successful working for myself instead of making someone else rich. I know I can't complain, I have it pretty good compared to some (24 hours a week on a full-time salary, and I get to turn up to work in jeans), but been going a bit mad the last few days trying to figure out where I go from here. At lunchtime my head was spinning so much, I saw the car on the drive and just took her out for a spin. Nothing excessive, just a cruise around with no specific place to be. I've come back and felt so much better, do you guys find the car a bit of an escape-from-it-all thing, or is it just me? By the time I'd driven a couple of miles I'd forgotten everything else and was just enjoying the car Apologies if a bit off-topic while I sit here drinking coke and eating yesterday's pizza Jez
  4. Read this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/gds/LEGAL-ADVICE-REGARDS-BUYING-AND-SELLING-/10000000001449898/g.html Your bid is legally binding, and you can sue him if he doesn't complete his side of the sale.
  5. They are covered easily by a 3/4 size number plate
  6. Get hold of some Meguiars Ultimate Compound and a good microfibre, brings them up really nicely. I used a polishing machine to do mine and they've come up really good. If you're interesting in detailing, I can recommended CleanYourCar.co.uk, they have some really good products on there
  7. It's times like this when I could do with knowing someone who knows how it should drive, it's one of those subjective things isn't it, and everything I feel now I think to myself "I'm sure that's how it's supposed to be on 19's", and then assure yourself everythings okay. I've read good things about Kaiser Motor up in medway direction, to be honest what I want is to get them to drive it to see how it feels.
  8. When the wheels turned up, one of the large (50gram I think) weights had come loose from one of the wheels, but I didn't know which one so left it off. The garage was adamant that there was no reason to balance the wheels after the alignment had been done, I was a bit skeptical but assumed the geo had sorted everything out, it feels like it's really unbalanced and not a comfortable ride at all above 70mph. I expected to feel more of the road on 19"s than 18"s but this is to the extreme. Meant to add I had a P3 service about 3 months ago and an MOT last week - nothing picked up with regard to bushes and arms.
  9. Thanks GT4 Zed I'm not much of a mechanic myself lol but could I do a visual check of any of those parts you listed?
  10. Update... I took a colleague to work in the car on Thursday, a 75 mile-ish journey to Tonbridge Wells. It all feels fairly tight up to 70mph, then it feels like every few moments the car is driving on a cobbled road, it's feint but you can tell something's there. We both initially thought it was only a problem when the car's running at full-chat, but even with my foot off the throttle it was still there, I'm guessing this rules out a gearbox/clutch issue (it has a new clutch anyway). If you're thinking to yourself, "just get the b***dy wheels balanced", I'm waiting for a free day in the next couple of weeks I can take it up to Kaiser Motor Jez
  11. The wheels are Linea Corse Dynas, 8.5 wide front and 10 rear. Tyres are Falken 453, 245/35 and 275/35. Front 19 x 8.5 ET 15 Rear 19 x 10 ET 20
  12. I've added a photo of my geo, I was told it's all within factory standards so am assuming this is true.
  13. What is his username on here, thought I would find out what sort of availability there is as I'm hoping to get a couple of days off over the next week or two...
  14. Kaizer is 55 miles from me getting closer lol Do you think he would let me be there while the work's being done? Not expecting a reduction in price but would really love to be part of it and feel a bit involved and see what's going on.
  15. I'm in South East Kent near Dover, I can't tell you how sick and tired I am of trying to find even a half-assed garage who I have enough confidence in to allow them to work on the car, I'm a bit fed up at the moment Abbey Motorsport is 75 miles from me, it's not even about the money, I just want it sorted by someone who knows what they're doing. I'm happy enough to take a day off and plod on up there if I can be assured that everything is as it should be, I've heard some good things about them
  16. I'll try and explain as best as I can, the one tangible thing I do notice is a slight vibration through the steering wheel, this was however worse before the alignment so the alignment has obviously made some difference, and I've also been assured that no garage can completely remove the vibration completely due to the wider contact patch of the 19's. The car doesn't feel like it's wandering as such, more that I seem to be getting excessive feedback from all four corners, almost like too much feedback from the road surface? I really don't know whether it's a placebo from the alignment and the bigger wheels, it's on stock suspension if that helps any. Can anyone tell me what the most obvious symptoms are of unbalanced wheels? I'll get it to a garage if I have to, but it's awkward when all you have to go on is 'it doesn't feel quite right'.
  17. Hi all, Since having upgraded my wheels from 18" to 19", I have had the car aligned by a garage not far from me, they had a Hunter laser system and were recommended to me by a friend of a friend who drifts a 260SX. It feels better, but it's still not right, I did ask the guy about doing the wheel balancing (it was only a fiver a side) but he insisted it didn't need doing (and wasn't done), I got the geometry printout and it's all within limits, but it still feels like the wheel(s) are unbalanced as the car feels quite skittish over 70mph. He did the alignment without taking the wheels off the car which I was surprised about, but assumed that is how it is done these days. Surely it's usual to have the wheels balanced at the same time, or is it all in my mind since upgrading to 19"s have the effect of a harder ride anyway? Jez
  18. Were they ever an official Nissan part, or just part of a third party body kit?
  19. Does anyone know what side skirts these are? I've looked and can't identify them, it looks like the factory side skirts with the extra parts at the far left and right? Me want Jez
  20. It doesn't have the volume levels of, say, a train horn, but it's a good improvement over the factory fitted ones. I'm not a very hands-on person (I work in IT ) but once I'd discovered not to use the mounting point next to the headlight it was all straight forward. I guess you could say it has a more urgent sound to it, I bought the 400 and 500Hz model, I originally thought about some Hella Supertone horns but they'd have made the Z sound like a noddy car, not the look I was going for lol. I'd love a train horn, but the thought of a compressor taking half of my already tiny boot turns me off a bit, would be too tempted to drive around scaring the c**p out of everyone Jez
  21. Seeing as I officially have a working set of horns after having my steering wheel replaced, I thought I'd update the existing factory horns for something a bit newer and louder. I bought them from here: http://item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/viewitem?itemId=190881958980&cmd=VISPEC I didn't want to take the front bumper off as I wasn't confident I would be able to fit it back again, so fitted them with it still on the car. One of the horns is almost central of the radiator and is easy enough to remove, however the other is tucked away behind the bumper near the drivers side headlight. If you have small arms like me you can unbolt it with a socket set. The problem lies in that the connectors for this particular horn are on the wrong side, so therefore the connectors aren't long enough to reach if you try and mount the horn back in the stock location. What I found after spending an hour trying to get the horn mounted and the connectors on is that the easiest thing to do is to detach the rectangular metal plate from the horn, and attach both horns to it. You can then not only connect both up as the electrical connections both stretch, but that you can then bolt the metal plate to the mounting point right in front of you. Hope I've explained this okay, I can clarify further if it helps Jez
  22. Hi all, Ive recently had a full Hunter alignment done on the car, a couple of months after upgrading to 19"s (I'm not lowered, just on stock suspension). Irregardless of the suspension setup, are there optimal settings which are better than the stock Nissan ones? I'm currently running the following: Rear Camber -1.35 near side, -1.38 offside Rear Toe 0.05 both sides Front Camber -1.12 near side, -1.08 offside Front Caster 7.03 near side, 7.58 offside Front Toe 0.02 both sides I'm thinking about investing in a rear camber kit as I'd like a little bit more negative camber, the garage said they've dialled in the stock settings as much as they possibly can, the only setting slightly out of kilter is the front near side caster at 7.03, according to my printout this should be between the range of 7.25 and 8.55. Do these sound accurate and is there a more accurate geometry I could have the car setup with? Sorry for the long read Jez
  23. Hi all, After fitting my 2006 rear LEDs, I've lost one of the dust caps. Does anyone have one they'd be willing to donate or sell? thanks Jez
  24. The Nissan dealer I use near me charges me £65 an hour in labour, but I pay that for the warm fuzzy feeling I get from a glass-fronted dealership, I know it's a Nissan and not a Ferrari but seeing a colleagues car go into a filthy garage manned by a spotty youth is high on my list of nightmares.
