  1. It looks and sounds like Spanish but there are some accents I don't recognise (stresses on words not how the words are spoken) and one or two words don't seem like Spanish, or at least not Castillian which is all I'm learning. It's quite a simple song, as are most pop songs though They just want you to put your hands in the air, move your body and definitely not be tired, ha ha. They also ask if you can overcome the power of the sea. Presumably with that boat, they can, unless they run aground!
  2. Husband just got back from Warsaw and he loved it but, despite being half Polish himself, he only learnt how to say 'Good morning' and 'thank you'. I think Spanish is way easier
  3. Hola Bradders! Sí, traductor Google es estupendo pero yo prefiero aprender el lenguaje mismo Qué lástima StevoD, porque tengo unos caramelos aquí!
  4. SuperStu, my iPad is um, normal. No idea what jail broken means, sorry. The e mail wasn't from anybody, it had no header and no content. It just appeared briefly on screen and then vanished! I know that sounds bonkers but I spoke to someone on another forum last night and they had exactly the same thing happen. I'm still confused...
  5. Vix, I wish I'd learnt it at school but French was the only language on offer and I loved that. You should take it up again soon so you can talk to me
  6. I've really improved since I started twice weekly private lessons with a tutor here. I can now read pretty well, got an Agatha Christie in Spanish on the go but my spoken Spanish is still very rudimentary.
  7. I've got a translation app on my iPhone too and it can be useful but I really want to learn enough to have proper conversations because I'm living in Spain at the moment. If it was just a couple of weeks holiday I wouldn't be trying so hard!
  8. A three letter word and you still missed the accent, lol Your Spanish is about as good as my parking!
  9. I've been leaning seriously for four months now and really enjoying it. If anyone else here speaks Spanish it would be nice to exchange a message or two
  10. Just how small was the, er, 'moan'?
  11. I've just had an e mail with no heading or content and it purported to come from the past - 1970 to be precise. Someone said it might be something to do with how unix creates dates but I've no idea as I'm not technical. Should I be worried? I'm on my iPad so no AV software as such.
  12. I was too busy watching to get my phone out to video it, unfortunately Andy, it wasn't me! I'm not half that good at parking!!!
  13. From the balcony of my third floor apartment I get a bird's eye view of the street below and I have congratulated myself many times on my decision to leave Mr Zed at home! Parking takes about three minutes normally. Step one - choose a space slightly, but not much, longer than your car. Step two - sidle wonkily into space Step three- inch forward until you touch the car in front Step four - inch backward until you touch the car behind Step five - lurch forward making sure you give the car in front a good jolt Step six - lurch backwards, bounce off car behind until you have virtually attached your bumper to car in front Step seven - check your mirror ... to make sure your hair hasn't come out of place due to your previous manoeuvres Step eight - get out of car, check the whiteness of your teeth in your wing mirror and proceed to shops/bar/ optician. Delete as applicable.

  15. Ah, I get it now. I didn't know what that was called! Thanks for explaining
  16. I've no idea what that means: 'tether' that is, not 'adult content', snigger.
  17. Hi Matt Mr Twobears just Skyped me to tell me he's freezing in the UK and he's had to put the central heating on in his hotel room. He's a bit peeved because it's going to be 31 degrees here at the weekend, ha ha.
  18. I'm in a very rural area (when I'm at home) but O2 is actually the only network that works there. It's not brilliant but it's better than the others I've tried.
  19. Thanks everyone I am always wary of things like this but since no one's said anything bad about them I will give them a go.
  20. I want a new iPhone and am hoping to wait until the iPhone 6 is launched but I might have to buy a 5 instead because my current phone has started playing up I've always had a contract but I'm not a 'heavy user' so was wondering about buying the phone and getting a sim from giffgaff. Does anyone use them and are they any good?
  21. Just before I left the UK I took my parents out in Mr Twobears' car. My Mum got in the back and decided that the door was too difficult to shut so she left it open. I never thought to check because she's not usually senile (!) so I reversed up the drive and hit the dustbins with the open door. Oops! I think my dotty mother has to share the blame for that one though, surely?
  22. I should start by saying that I have no interest in mechanical matters and even less aptitude so apologies if my question seems silly but what do I need to do to make sure that my Zed gets safely back on the road after sitting, unused since last year? I am going to ask for help from someone local who will do whatever work needs doing but I would like to know what he needs to look out for etc. I've never had a car off the road for this long and am anxious to know it will be safe to drive as I have some fairly long journeys ahead this summer. Thanks to anyone who can advise
