  1. In what way has it changed? I'm intrigued and I hope I never have to find out for myself because I'm a bit too old to start dating at my age.
  2. I think Hugh lives opposite an octogenarian man doesn't he?
  3. Point taken Keyser Let's put it down as a 'turn of phrase' shall we? She's a slender 5' 8" so definitely not short. We've been on 4 WD days together with the Land Rover and she's tackled some big hills in a big car, so I'm wrong on that count too. And, finally, she's driven from Yorkshire to Cornwall twice without a problem so, yup, I am a bad mother who talks tripe and who should, henceforth be roundly ignored!!! I am sure daughter will agree with the final point
  4. Yes, it's a bit of a blunt instrument and I have told her to ignore it if she needs to brake or accelerate hard to avoid trouble. She's actually a good little driver and passed her test first time after a few lessons. I am very protective of her though and tell her to do as I say and not as I do Yes, Keyser, I think that's a brilliant plan. Do let us know how it goes
  5. Because she logs into an app that charts every journey she makes and there is a traffic light system in place. She gets green lights for nearly all journeys (apart from an occasional amber when she has had to brake or accelerate harder than usual) except the times she moves the car to make room for her boyfriend's car. These short 'journeys' always earn her a red light
  6. I couldn't tell you because I've never seen it or the information it gives her. I know that it penalises her every time she moves her car a little bit to get it inside the gates in order to make room for her boyfriend's Land Rover so I'm not sure what it is measuring here? Eco friendliness?
  7. My daughter gets cheaper insurance because she has a telematics box fitted in her Fiesta. I pay for her insurance and I like her having it because I think it encourages her to drive smoothly and, hopefully, safely and it saves me a bit of money too I know that I would be penalised if I had the the thing fitted in Stanley so I wouldn't consider it. I did think that insurance for women had been outlawed but if stats prove that they have less accidents then I can't see a problem with it? All insurance companies will surely do what is best for them and their shareholders? I doubt they are being charitable to women.
  8. I think it would be quick been single for a while now You're single? Noooooooo, him I'm talking about. I got snatched up years ago Ah, glad to hear it. I thought I'd missed something when I was away!
  9. I think it would be quick been single for a while now You're single?
  10. I thought Tinder was the straight version of Grind'r? Not exactly a 'dating' site unless you like very quick dates
  11. Stanley hasn't got one yet and I guess he won't be getting one now I posted Mr Zedder's and the Unnamed Fiesta's discs off yesterday and it felt odd, knowing that it was the last time I'd ever have a paper tax disc. Hopefully, the new system will be better though and certainly less stickers on my windscreen will be good. I hate stickers on the screen and have already had to peel two off Stanley
  12. Thanks Dan That's the approach I've decided to take. I've spent so long wanting to do this that it seems better to just give it a go, even if it doesn't work out.
  13. I joined after buying my Zed (now, sadly departed) because I wasn't quite sure what I had bought I was driving an elderly P38 at the time, although I hated it and kept it for a grand total of two weeks. I drove past a garage (also, not so sadly, now departed) and an azure roadster caught my eye so I stopped, negotiated myself a very good deal (for some reason I was feeling assertive) and then decided to find a forum in order to see what kind of car I had actually purchased. Like most others here, I think I stayed on the forum because people were nice to me on the whole. I did get accused of psycho analysing some people in the early days which made me wonder what they were hiding but I 'spoke' to lots of lovely people and soon found myself enjoying my time on the forum. I tend to drift in and out of the place now and was going to leave when I sold Mr Zedders last week but lots of nice people told me that I was still welcome which just goes to prove what a lovely place this is
  14. Thanks Fodder and Tim I don't think the world is ready for a recording yet though
  15. Thanks Mudman and 350zedd If we don't practise the carols now they won't sound good on Christmas Eve, which is when "we" (well the choir, with or without me) are doing the concert
  16. Well the music teacher just rang and she has asked me to go along for an assessment on Friday morning to sing some scales etc so that she can judge whether or not she will be able to teach me how to sing. The potential for embarrassment is enormous but at least I will have tried, even if I fail spectacularly at this point. Please wish me luck. I will need it
  17. Sounds like a great plan Mudman. I am a 'friend' of Beverley Chamber Choir and their singing is beautiful. I think it would be wonderful to have a great voice, like you obviously have and a great shame not to use it so good luck with whatever you choose to do next
  18. Alive Boy, that's great to hear. I would still like to learn Welsh but I think it's essential to have the help of a native speaker. It would be nice for me even to learn a few phrases because I stay in North Wales every year without fail and feel quite inadequate/rude because I can't speak Welsh. You should send your partner over to meet me
  19. No worries. I belong to a lawn tennis club in Weybridge, although I swim/gym rather than play tennis, and they have just started a choir so I am going along to that. There are about 20 ladies and only 3 men. Fortunately, one of the men is a good singer and another is very good so they will help bring a bit of balance to things I think. We need more men to join really.
  20. "Weybridge have a Male Choir just googled it - Pop along on a rehearsal night and I guarantee you will enjoy it." I might well enjoy it Mudman but they wouldn't want me in the choir because I'm female I tried learning Welsh via the internet/podcasts but it was too difficult so I swapped to Spanish instead and that is a breeze in comparison.
  21. I hope so. I feel very lacking in confidence at this point. Mudman, that sounds brilliant and you obviously have talent to be part of such a good choir. I have a Welsh male voice choir tape that I play in my car sometimes but I can't really sing along because my Welsh is non-existent, despite having Welsh roots somewhere in my past and visiting Wales every year since I was a child!
  22. Thanks Lexx, that sounds encouraging I know I'll never be a good singer but I'd like to be just good enough to be a useful, workmanlike member of the choir. Tricky-Ricky - noooooooooooo, I am not posing behind a giant sunflower for any money Coffee mornings sound ok though
  23. Thanks both Good plan AliveBoy but I really have to sing or they will chuck me out
