    Exhaust

Everyone seems to sell at the same price, hmmm decisions decisions lol How about a shipping fee fight? Im going to PM Alex after I post this to see what he has, plus I need a few bits and bobs from him anyway, such as a head light ballast and a few of the little plastic poppers for splash guards and bumper. Also, as I mentioned before, gonna check out that place near me after having a look at the exhaust myself to see what, if anything, they can do.

    Exhaust

Thanks for the replies. Been asking around work and there's a place quite near me who makes custom exhausts, so I'll go see him tomorrow before committing to purchase. I'll also PM those mentioned when I get the chance (probably late tonight) to see what they have to offer. Thanks again.

    Exhaust

Hey, I'll apologise in advanced if this in the wrong place, I'm currently in work Anyway, just got the car back from Nissan after the big P3. There are a few things I need quite urgently for the MoT in the next week or so, one of these being a new exhaust back box as the current one is, well, f**ked! All the other things I've already found sorces for in here, it's just the backbox that I need a contact for. So could someone please be as kind to give me a list of he traders on here who can supply please? Considering the price Nissan want for one I might as well go after market, but if there is someone on here who does OEM much cheaper then I might be interested. Thanks, better go back to work now before I get scooped!

    Bye Bye Zed

I know how you feel mate, I think we've all bought a car or motorcycle in the past that turns out to be less perfect that we thought and if it's severe enough (like yours) you just don't want it anymore. No matter how much time you take looking over it, there is always something you miss or don't notice. I bought mine at the end of Feb and starting to find a few bits and pieces now that need fixing or are only rearing their ugly head now that the good weather is coming in, like my drivers window being temperamental, or little scratches I couldn't see in the dull light on Feb. But I still love this car and most of the things are pretty easy/cheap fixes. Hopefully she'll be perfect by the end of the month again, then the real modding can commence
  6. Have you actually tried what the OP did to fix it? I don't see it listed in the things that you have done. There is a large grey plastic box on the circuit board for the amp in the boot, sometimes this is a little lose and needs a bit of a fiddle to make a clean connection again. I stuck about 5mm thick of paper to the top of it and reassembled the amp again to fix a small problem not to long ago.

    Lost car Key

A new key from Nissan costs £160, a new key from a locksmith is only a few pennies cheaper from the quotes I got. It'll probably cost you a good bit more if they have to come and get into your car first.
  8. The only thing the JDM has that i'd like to have on my UK GT is the dipping mirrors on reverse. But thats really not worth the extra insurance cost and other things that would bug me like the limiter (even if I won't go faster) clocks in KM etc.
  9. If it had average mileage for the year, circa 50k, i'd say about £8k, but since it has such low mileage, I think JetSet is right with around £10k. However I think more people are less concerned about the actual mileage of the car now-a-days and more about it being well serviced and cheap because these engines will run forever. Average price where I am for an 04 GT with about 60k is £7k advertised, with sellers accepting anything about £6k really. knock £500 off for non-GT.
  10. Thats pretty cool, but I bet i would get confused with the other numbers and read the time as 8 when its only 4 lol

    New engine

That really sucks! I'm annoyed enough after buying my Zed and finding I need a new light ballast, possibly a drop link (hopefully not banana arm) and need to sort some wiring out on a side light.
  12. Definitely illegal unless the car pre-dates the change over to the white & yellow plates (1970... something I think, but I can't remember specifically which something at the moment. ). Yup, you're right, did a bit of googling and the switchover was 1/1/73. However, I can not find any reference from the DVA/DVLA/ETC about the plate having to be a solid plastic plate. Just mentions spacing, sizing etc and reflectiveness.
  13. What about the legality of using vintage style plates? With them being black with white lettering, they would blend in very well with my Kuro Zed

    orange zed?

I personally don't like the orange of the newer cars, love the sunset orange of the older ones though, especially if they have matching interior
  16. Went out to check them yesterday only to find the washer bottle was empty Filled it up today and they are working That's one less thing I have to get fixed before MoT on the 10th!
  17. haha The road was awful! Not even close to being smooth and pretty narrow with no road markings, you know the sort! Going any faster would have either left me with sciatica and probably a large bill to foot for new suspension... hmmmm nice excuse to get coil overs. I could be down that road again pretty shortly
  18. On Sunday i'd only reset the computer after filling up, drove for a good few miles at 40mph in 6th with the computer registering 39.2mpg!!

    orange zed?

Here's one I seen a while ago, Red roadster, 05, priced at 9k and it's maybe a bit far away from you, but seems like a good car, even if it is a little over priced. http://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-moto ... n/96020455
  20. You're 100% correct, I had it up to 39.2mpg according to the computer on Sunday for half an hour or so, until I had to find a parking space in a very busy carpark, then it dropped to about 27/28 and it's stayed there ever since. However, the average is only 21, but i've never seen the mpg drop below 27 since filling up and resetting on Sunday?
  21. This is a tricky one. I would definitely have the same car as my dad, but although he's 56, he still thinks he's in his 20's, therefore has pretty good modern taste in cars and various other things. It's all down to the dad at the end of the day.
  22. hey wesmin, looks like you're in the same boat as me I may have found a closer Shell than Belfast in Banbridge, if it's still there, but it'll still be a 24 mile round trip for me to get the 99, which would leave me 5 miles down on a tank. There used to be one less than a km from me and then a bp a few hundred yards down the road, but they closed the BP, changed the Shell to BP then opened and brand new BP practically next door to me. If it was still there i'd even pay the extra penny or 2 for V-Power over BP Ultimate for the sake of the comparison. It's rather annoying that they're just saying it won't be available. I don't see the difference in putting it in mainland forecourts and here, especially as there is no competition for HO fuel over 97 in this country. It seems like an open market that Tesco could cheaply and easily corner as it's 100 times cheaper for Tesco to ship some 99 to it's forecourts here than Shell opening up stations. It's another typical example of us in this wee country getting shafted once again! Rant over
  23. Yea I'm not really all that concerned about it being the right fuel, as after reading this thread through i've learnt that 97 will be ok to keep the car happy. It's more the point that I can't use the fuel recommended for the car and i'm sure other cars too as it's not available. More principle than anything else. Plus as I mentioned before about the mileage comparison between 97 and 99, it would have been interesting as Tesco 99 is a god few pennies cheaper than BP's 97. I'm sure it would have only been 1- 1.5mpg, but considering our cars high fuel usage, it could have saved a decent amount of cash.
  24. Well that's my only option, but all those are only RON 97 and I really wanted the 98/99 that the car requires, not only to be OCD about it, but also because I don't know what fuel has been used in the car in it's previous lives. Also, I was looking forward to doing the 97 v 99 MPG comparison.
  25. As others have said, take the money and run. There are plenty out there for your £6.5k. 04 GT's with about 60k re currently being advertised for 7k, so you could easily get them down to 6.5k and shave 20-30k off your current mileage with no cat c/d to worry about come sale time.
