  1. I don't even know how to activate them, any tips?
  2. 2 owners probably means previous owners when the dealer took it in, so the guy who used to own the car was the 3rd, a simple mistake from the advertiser in my opinion. As for the colour, it look like gun metal, which is just a dark grey silver and the best colour in my opinion. It's an 04 GT with 61k going for under 6k, if all is in order with the car it's a freaking bargain and i'd buy it in a second if I hadn't already got one!
  3. Went to fill up at Tesco's after alms running the tank dry at the weekend, only to find that it doesn't sell 99, then after checking the website, I discovered that Tesco 99 is only available on the mainland. So, that affectively means I can not put the correct fuel into the Zed as the only garages within 20 miles are BP, Texaco, Jet etc, not even a Shell. I might sent Tesco a little email notifying them of this, as there are probably quite a few people around here who would love to put 99 in their cars.
  4. I hear this also the correct path to take with females of the species...
  5. I sold my Ducati 749 to buy the 350Z this year, and now that the sunny weather is coming in I really wish I still had the Duc! So if I was in your shoes with £7k budget, i'd be keeping the 350 and buying a bike, specifically a Ducati. I''ve done the whole Jap bike thing and they are greg, very fast, but there is nothing like the sound of Ducati's L-Twins ringing in your ear as you pull hard out of a corner. Plus the clutch grabs so fast and the gear changes are so positive due to the dry clutch set up. For your 7k you could pick up a real minter of a 3 year old rice rocket or a year or 2 older Ducati 1098 with low miles. There is one for sale close to me for £7,700, 2700 miles 2007 with Termi pipes which are an extra costing nearly £1500!
  6. There is a small local dealer quite close to me with 2 '04 Zed's, both have a shade under 60k, within a few hundred miles of each other, one is gunmetal the other is black. Both are GT's in pretty much the same condition, although eh GM has a scrape on the front bumper, but I'm sure the dealer will sort that out before releasing the car. However, the GM is listed at 7k, the black at 9k! I actually think the GM looks better, but it's all in the eye of the beholder at the end of the day. I still bought a black one sold privately in the end, as dealer didn't seem to want my money for the GM.
  7. This is not true. There is many cars on here with much much higher mileage still on original clutch. I'm on late 20k's on original clutch with a good few miles on track having its arse kicked. Only quoting from what I read elsewhere. Apparently they average about 40k until a new clutch is needed and mine was changed but he previous owner at 35k due to slippage. I also seen one for sale with 28k on the clock with a very low price tag because it was in need of a new clutch. But if you guys are getting 70k+ out of them, that's great, hopefully i'll be able to get the same as the new clutch has been on for 30k atm.
  8. So is the Zed, mine makes up excuses constantly to take it our for a spin. One time he came back and the computer was registering an average MPG of.... 8!!!!
  9. She's beautiful and that colour is amazing, never seen it before on a Jag. Everything I went to see around here was either the dark blue, champagne or a variation of silver. But the colour was never going to be a deciding factor in my purchase because if I had found a real minter before the Zed I was going to wrap it in BRG When I was considering one, I found this very affordable full exhaust system that I would have liked to have fitted, it gives the cat back it's growl http://www.xk8-parts.com/index.php/cate ... rformance/
  10. 31k miles means it's almost time for a new clutch...
  11. Does the R come standard with all those bits and bobs or were they options? Auto lights would be nice to have in the Zed, along with the auto wipers and auto dimming features. How is the Sat Nav? Most people who have OEM GPS seem to find it pretty useless compared to Garmin etc... I like the idea of adaptive cruise control, however I like setting mine and using the steering controls to adjust speed pretending I'm playing Gran Turismo Memory seats are something I really really want! It takes me ages to find the exact settings I had the seat at after someone else has driven her. I'm actually seriously considering disconnecting the controls once I finally get it back to perfect so it doesn't happen again Anyway, have you any pics of the XK? I'd love to have a peek as I was brought up with Jag's around me, mostly XJ6 and XJS though...
  12. Because of the Rays and low miles i'd say about 7.5k in todays market. Wouldn't add a penny for the exhaust, not because it's good, but because pretty much every single aftermarket upgrade loses pretty much 100% of it's value come sale time if it's still on the car.
  13. But I believe Tesco's is supplied by Greenenergy who's only business is fuel and nothing else, as confirmed by that Wiki article. I also personally won't take any notice of that unfortunate occurrence 5 years ago as these things happen and I'm sure they learnt from their mistake as it cost them millions in car repairs...
  14. But isn't Shell's super (V-power) also 99RON?
  15. The wheels are fine, it's just the rear tires are too low a profile. Ask the dealer to either fit new SAFE tires in the correct sizes, or remove the cost of you doing the same from your offer.
  16. 1. I have to admit I haven't heard a Zed with an aftermarket exhaust IRL, but the Zed as stock has a beautiful note IMO. 2. I wasn't saying they aren't out there, but if I found one in comparable Zed condition and miles, it started to approach 5 figure territory Which I just didn't have. 3. But then I lose the OEM look of the Jag dash. A flashy Sony etc head unit wouldn't look that great in a Jag IMO. 4. Ref No. 2 5. I am not disputing it's worth good money if it's a great example, but my pocket just wasn't deep enough. I wouldn't say it's twice the car, though. Yes it has an extra 500/700cc, 20bhp and 2 more pots, the seats are like sitting in a palace and even your shopping gets to feel comfortable in the rear storage area/seats, but the Zed has more gadgets and easier to customize to your exact taste. 6. Yup, but his is one of those XK's that won't be for sale because they are so perfect. I have no doubt an XKR with it's extra 120 supercharged HP will @*!# all over a Zed, but I was after an 8, not an R, insurance would rip me a new one if I went with a 4.2 V8 400bhp monster!
  17. I am aware of that. According to the book it's just a few extra checks, but with my dealer it's only an extra £20 for a P3 compared to P2, so might as well pay to get it in the book.
  18. Oddly enough before buying my Zed I was stuck between it and an XK8 (XKR insurance would kill me) It had the appeal of a monster 4.0 V8 or 4.2 if a couple of years younger and they are truly stunning pieces of art. The reasoning towards buying the Zed instead was - 1. despite being a V8, unless it had an after-market exhaust, it was way too quiet, sounded kind of like a large engined 4 pot. 2. Rust problems seems to be way to common for a car which is basically the same age as the Zed which doesn't suffer nearly as badly. 3. No freaking CD player in the cockpit, I know it has the 6 changer in the boot, but I like the option to change to a 7th CD without having to get out of the car. 4. Kind of along the lines of no. 2, pretty much everyone I seen had been resprayed a couple of years back and it was easy to see (and we think we have crap paint) 5. Price. For one in pretty good condition with a decent service history, 4 years older than my Zed is about the same price with 40k more on the clock. 6. The Zed is a much cooler looking, sexier car with much more alternatives to OEM parts and can be cheaper to service (for me anyway) Having said all this, i'd still love an XK in the future. A guy in work has a champagne XKR and it is immaculate! Stunning stunning car!
  19. If I am correct, those tyre sizes make the rear wheels smaller than the front and therefore the traction control won't function correctly as the rear wheels will always be rotating faster than the fronts, whereas I believe it should be rear wheels slightly larger. But this could easily be fixed with fitting series 35 tires on the rears giving a tyre circumference difference of -1.48% of OEM 18's. With the current set up it's -5.6% meaning you have to use 5.6% more power to do the same speed. On a plus note, you'll probably experience slightly faster acceleration...
  20. I would have thought all Nissan dealers would be the same price. It's £250 in my local Nissan which I am getting a P3 in on the 30th as I'm going to try claim on the 12 year perforation warranty at the same time because of a few bubbles on the bonnet and roof. After this service I'll be using a specific mechanic who will probably charge me £50 for the next P1 service and I'll get him to sign the book as a Nissan service as he works in the very dealer i'm taking it to next week.
  21. I see your point with the weather factor, but with a tank lasting me approx. 2 weeks and living in Northern Ireland, the weather stays pretty much the same until about May due to the huge amount of water around and in the centre of the country. So, if I even seen a difference of 1MPG that would be great, considering that's around 5% more based on an average 20MPG for approx. 2% less money giving me around 7% more MP£. This of course doesn't take into account any 10-15p off per litre deals that Tesco may have on at any given date, which then gives up to 17% more MP£.
  22. No because the Zed REQUIRES 97RON (or better). It is not applicable to run a Zed on 95RON. If you do you will damage your car. What I meant was, if the TT is getting +6 with 99 compared to 95, then say for the sake of argument, they may get 3 more than using say, 97. So seeing as our cars are mapped for 97ish, maybe we would see a slight increase in MPG with Tesco 99 compared to BP which is 97...? Tesco is pretty close to me and they're Super is about the same price give or take a penny or 2 than most other local garages are offering 95. So I'll be trying a few tanks of this 99, resetting the computer each fill to see if I can get a noticeable difference of a couple MPG.
  23. 6.5 is perfect, although there is no guarantee the fixings will be in the same place, as I found out when I tried to swap out the underpowered Bose sub for a superior 10 inch 600w unit I had hidden away. The holes weren't even close!
  24. http://www.tesco.com/Momentum99/productBenefits.asp Would this be applicable to our cars as well, even though they are mapped for higher Octane levels? Those cars all have small engines compared to ours, but I guess the TT would also be mapped for 97/98. It's getting a whole 6 extra mpg which equates to 1/6th more or 16.7%. With me running currently about 20mpg, am I likely to get an extra 3 or 4? The car is currently being ran on 97, but i've not long had it and god knows what it's been ran on before. For the sake of an extra 5 pence per liter (3.5% more where I live) it would be extremely worth using 99 if it would squeeze even another 2 mpg out.
  25. I recently bought an 04, but if I could have afforded it, i'd have went with the newer 07 onwards car. Another thing that made me choose the 04 was the tax, cars registered March(?) 06 onwards will be int he highest tax bracket which is £400+, pre 06 is £260. I know it's only a couple of hundred quid but it mattered to me.
