Dude you can do a lot worse than Uniroyals, rainsport 2s are actually sposed to be pretty good! now BAD tyres, well, Goodride, Accelera and Wanli come to mind... funnily enough that's what we have on our track BMW in the dry they're fine, touch of understeer when then fronts overheat. however in the wet, not so much lol they really can (and do) go sideways at about 20mph!

Light bit of science on this one... data taken from all summer tyre tests on tyrereviews.co.uk (dates from 2009 to 2014, only looking at tyres deemed 'high performance', 'ultra high performance' or 'max performance') http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre-Tests/#summer this is the number of times each manufacturer has came 1st in the test, (sample size is 33 tests) Continental has won a whopping 13 times Pirelli next with 6 Goodyear with 4 Dunlop, Nokian, Hankook and Michelin with 2 wins apiece Vredestein and Bridgestone with 1 win each. So on that evidence, clearly Continentals are the 'best' tyre (of those, 9 are contisport contact 5s, the other 4 being contisport contact 3s, which was replaced by CSC5) However now for the disclaimer - while most tests are a combination of dry and wet performance, braking, handling, NVH and so on, each test will be slightly different - Secondly (and most importantly) not all tyres were available for all tests. However i'm sure if MPSSs were entered in every one, they would have wiped the floor with everything else As it was MPSSs only won overall twice, out of 33 tests.

to the OP, how much tread have the fronts got? if theres still a reasonable amount on there, I definitely wouldn't throw away a reasonable tyre - unless its actually dangerous, which I doubt any bridgestone is, even a bad one. Assuming the fronts are ok, i'd try and match them as closely as possible - if you put MPSS on the back you'll induce understeer at the limit, if you put some cheap tyres on the rear you'll get oversteer at the limit. Unless you drive at the limit or are a professional tyre tester, I doubt you'd notice a difference between any of the top 6 brands. When I replace my rear tyres in May im purposely not going to get MPSS - as I only have Hankooks on the front, i'm going to go for something similar on the rear, so for me Goodyear Eagle F1s seem a good bet. To be honest I've actually never had a problem with Falkens, but seeing as I have a bit more money now and have found a good deal on goodyears, i'll try them.

sheesh, a single song wont get you very far into a 20hr roadtrip! my usual selection is Gatecrasher Residents Transmission for 4 hours, most of the Deadmau5 albums, and then some Clubber's Guide to Trance - that's probably abour 9 hours worth in total, by which time its probably time for a motel!

haha yep, bedford in january, one short shower then sun, Keevil in february, light cloud all day, Snetterton in march, one short shower then dry the rest of the day, we have been lucky! wherabouts you based? we're doing trackdays all over the country these days, but bedford is probably our local.

Currently I have FK453's fitted by the previous owner, same on the front, I'll likely get the same again I've had no problems with them. Haha yup this is true, 19" LMGT4s are the only wheel I would consider swapping my 18" rays for!

how about, sell the LMGT4s on here for a shedload of cash, and buy some 18" rays? then you can run nice sensible 45 profile tyres

thts a truly lovely kit - normally I don't like bodykits that much as they're very in-your-face, but that's really smooth and subtle. love the skirts and rear bumper. don't put a BGW on it, part of the appeal is a subtle look!

hmmm the first set is a little extreme for me, maybe with just red inners it would be better. the five spokes with gold however look awesome, very motorsport.

The season has started?!? pssssh, we never stopped, we've done trackday number three already this year! wasn't a huge fan of the new blyton to be honest... too tight and twisty for a high powered car in my opinion, better suited to something like a caterham. true there is little to hit, but some of the curbs on the exit of corners are rather high for no reason I can see. would much rather donington or cadwell, more satisfying when you string a good lap together.

thats going to be rapido fast, if it stays together. as mentioned, i'd want a lot more info and exactly whats been done and who did it, but even then the engine bay doesnt inspire much confidence. would certainly be an entertaining drive, i imagine it would go nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, VTECTURBO, spin, tree, fireball. but fun for about 0.5 seconds

if it was £10k only, with no budget for anything else, then has to be a zed. if it was £10k purchase price, plus £20k for ongoing maintenance/ major engine/chassis rebuilds, then the TVR, or the Supra. if however it was a second car, then S2000 plus change for upgrades, or an elise.

Just booked the BMW onto track day number 4 of 2014 at Bedford auto drome with MSV track days. Anyone fancy coming along? Hoping for good weather!

well, depends on the age of the car, and the size of the blowers.... but i cannot believe that a 2 litre turbo lump making 300plus bhp isnt horrendously laggy, or that the turbo isnt out of puff at high rpm. my old 300zx only used ickle turbos (two of 'em) to make a measly 9psi of boost, but the torque still dropped off a cliff after 5000rpm... hence why the RX7 of the same era had a sequential turbo setup. but modern stuff with variable vane geometry and so on will be a lot better, but i'd be very surprised if any turbo car makes a torque curve as flat as a zeds.

annoyingly if I use the advanced editing options the return key doesn't do anything, on either IE8 or firefox. have to type things in the very basic editor, and then the return key works!

welcome! if you like revs and VTEC then stick with Honda, if its a big capacity torquey lump you're after go for the Nissan. but most importantly have a decent drive in both.

360-400 normally. it some point i want to do an economy run and see if i can stretch to about 550 miles - when cruising at 60mph i'm getting about 34mpg, so with an 80 litre tank its theoretically possible!
