  1. Yes, a few of us have been on the skidpan at Rockingham, search for 'dance of the zeds' for the results! Plus rockingham happens to be a rather nice circuit for a trackday! Oulton park have a wet drift facility you could go along to - not tried it myself but again a few people on here have taken zeds on it. very slippery surface, zero tyre wear (but your car will get filthy)
  2. stubby aerial already, so nope, dont bother with that. I do fold in the mirrors though. side windows? generally you want them in the fully closed position...
  3. yep, quite like my local sainburys car wash! i cant be arsed washing it myself, i'd rather spend the time driving it. occasionally take it to a local (ish) handwash place, but most times its straight through the automated one.
  4. few and far between in my opinion - Mazda on track used to do great days with coned courses on a big carpark. i did notice they are doing this day if you're anywhere near brands hatch: http://www.mazdaontrack.co.uk/brands-hatch---wednesday-9th-april-2014--car-control-day-609-p.asp
  5. yeah i was maybe thinking a swapsies... but im in the midlands, quite a long way to Kent! ah well, i'm sure you'll ge it sorted. As mentioned, get Tarmac or CS to mail order you a scorpion, local garage to fit and then store the BC while it waits to be sold.
  6. Give it a couple of hours, soon it'll be a 2 litre GTI
  7. +1 would help a lot, lost count of the number of times 'for sale' posts dont have a location!
  8. actaully saying that, wherabouts you based? i've got a cobra resonated (bought new in November 2013) and a standard y pipe, but i would have gone for a secondhand buddyclub if one was available at the time!
  9. depending on condition, i'd say maybe £400-£450. I think new they're around £700.
  10. agreed 6am is my cut off for early starts! but then again, once im in my beemer, i dont know what the time is, so i inevitably drive faster than i should and get there 20 minutes before i planned to
  11. how old is the car? if it was an old, high miler i'd want to see it start from cold ideally - if its only 3 years old and done 25k id probably trust it was fine.
  12. just swap it back for a secondhand standard one off ebay, or a scorpion system if you want to go cheap aftermarket. no shame in saying an exhaust is too loud! you'd be better off flogging the exhaust to someone who wants a loud exhaust, rather than try and mod a loud exhaust so its quieter.
  13. solid sunstrips look fine on a race car, but definitely tinted but translucent for a road car. and yes, if the windscreen wipers go over the sunstrip its a fail. although i guess you could fit smaller windscreen wipers?
  14. I'm pretty sure the safety briefing is at 9:30, with track time starting at 10am. However, not sure how good it will be for spectators as its only an airfield, with the paddock area at one end of a main straight (you normally leave and join the track at a hairpin)
  15. Do some donuts with some attractive girls watching. If they walk away in disgust at your feeble single tyre smoking, your LSD is lunched. If, however, all of their clothes instantly fall off at your super mad drifting skillz, you've got a fully functioning LSD.
  16. i'm running mine on a combination of tabasco sauce and vodka - burns going in and burns again on the way out!
  17. ah essex is fine - we're hoping to do snetterton in mid march, you're more than welcome to come along to that!
  18. where are you based Dan? cos if you're midlands way, you should definitely buy it, and then give me a ride in it actually tell you what, you give me a ride in an M6 on road, i'll give you a ride in our beemer on our next trackday. it only ever gets compliments!
  19. i like the look of the M6! fairly subtle german ubercoupe... whats not to like! hmmm its certainly a tricky one - on the one hand, who wouldnt want a have access to a V10 engine that revs to 8000rpm... the sound and power would be enough to make a grown man weep. but on the other hand, considering the severe impact to wallet in fuel, tyres and servicing costs, is it worth it? I rarely give the zed the full beans and thats only got 280bhp - when would i ever use nearly twice that power?! One small twitch of the right foot would see you north of 120, and rapidly climbing! if i had a lot more money and my commute involved 40 miles along a derestricted autobahn, and i did lots of cross continent driving, and i had a lot more money, i might consider an M6, but unfortunately its not for me at the moment!
  20. HIGH 30s? that seems optimistic, does your commute involve a long downhill section?!? my commute is also 90% motorway, 200 miles a week. i'm normally cruising at 75-80 (same as everyone else on the M40) and average 28mpg.
  21. as mentioned, if you're considering fuel economy, this isnt the car for you, but in all seriousness... any indication of mpg from your drive? not expecting a lot, but surely it'd get mid twenties on a cruise?
  22. yep sorry just one year too old for me!
  23. yep, dont have a clue what film thats from... but yep, good episode. i love the way they shoot top gear - really really want to go to the italian lakes now! and want to do a trackday at spa as well
  24. We've got an old 328i, good solid car! So far our performance upgrades amount to added lightness, suspension and brakes. Next thing on the list are tyres, and only then might we think about some power! by far and away our biggest problems were stopping and cornering, but now they're improved its such a better drive- right up there with the late brakers, and really nice through faster turns.
  25. you never got to 145 at castle combe.... did you?!? i call BS our beemer only got to 100, think Darrens zed only got to 120 or so!
