  1. I bet you theres nothing wrong with it at all. Both my Zeds have done exactly this. First Zed was an early one and that was very loud, but totally fine. No need to replace unless it's starts making really loud horrible sounds as you engage the clutch or it starts to slip.
  2. Don't even think about it. You get what you pay for. I made the mistake of fitting Apex springs to my S3 once apon a time. Never again.
  3. Yea I've done an ECU reset. Yea I know what you mean about nice sounding exhausts making you want to push the throttle but no it's not the case this time. Normally a decent exhaust and a good air filter has shown me better mpg in the past due more slightly better engine efficiency. Also I would think that the cold dense air would improve mpg if anything due to the higher oxygen/cubic capacity in the air. The car feels faster because it's working more efficiently. Therefore if you drive it no faster than normal you would get better MPG. More bang for your buck. Maybe I'm completely wrong. Saying that I expect the maf sorts it out so probably equals out either way. Would an uprev improve MPG then?
  4. Hell! Surely there must be something up with that? I'll get the lambda sensors checked out.
  5. The value for money and the performance over running costs. For what it is, it's a bargain to buy and a bargain to insure and run. Currently I don't believe that I could buy and run and better car for the same money. Oh and predictable rwd fun.
  6. Hi chaps. Been meaning to post this question for a while. Recently my standard exhaust broke on my 300 revup. Obviously that trashed the fuel economy for the week or so that it was snapped. I have since had a cat-back true dual system fitted. I've had the exhaust on a month or two and I think the fuel economy is only very slightly better than it was with a snapped exhaust. I'm almost certain it's worse than it was standard. Saying that though the fuel economy on this revup Zed has never been as good as it was on my old 54 plate Zed. I feel it's a good 5 or so mpg down from what it should be. Is there anything I can check for which may be causing poor MPG? It's had a recent full service so it's nothing like that. Is it possible that a performance exhaust could make economy worse? I would imagine it to improve if anything providing driving style stays the same? Would an uprev remap improve the efficiency and mpg? I'm not hugely worried about I just thought id ask the question. If thats the MPG then so be it. I just find it odd that it's worse than my older pre-facelift Zed. Cheers Steve
  7. I think I prefer the Alezan. When buying my first Zed I searched for a grey one with Alezan and bought it. Think it was a great combo and looked a bit more special. Very nice contrast in the flesh. I now have a Grey one with black leather and it does look a bit boring. It does naturally look as though it's cleaner and in better condition though.
  8. Collins of Probus have always seemed pretty good for me.
  9. No it's nothing like that. Phoned the garage today and apparently it was do do with the butterfly value at the throttle body. All clogged up with carbon etc apparently so they're cleared it out. They want it another day though for some reason.
  10. Oh Damn, I should have filmed the code. I've left it outside a garage now. I'll try to get it tomorrow. Cheers Alex
  11. I think theres something really wrong with the Zed. Was driving about all day and when I started the car at the parents house lots of warning lights came on on the dash, CEL, traction control light, and ABS light I think. Then when I tried to drive it it won't let me rev past 1000rpm. So had to drive it to the closest garage and dump it there until tomorrow. Would only let me do 20mph maximum as revs wouldn't go over 1000rpm. Tried ECU reset before driving but every time I started it the same thing happened. Any ideas what this could be? Happened to anybody? Appears serious to put it into limp mode. Guessing that what it is. Cheers Steve
  12. Seems fine this morning. Started first time and reset the fault light.
  13. Buy privately. Mines an 06 300 revup GT full spec, grey. Good condition all round. Leather rays etc. 85000motorway miles. Cash good price. Window was playing up so reset it and its fine. Exhaust needed replacing too but upgraded that anyways.
  14. My battery has just failed for the first time. Required a jump start off the van but had brought up the CEL on dash. Do they always throw a CEL when the battery fails? I'll try resetting it in a min and see if she starts ok today. Gave it a good run last night after getting it started. Hoping it was caused by the cold weather and the fact I left it sat outside not driven for 5days. It's an 06 so could be at the end of its life I suppose. Steve
  15. Unlocked mine yesterday morning with the key button and as the indicators flash etc the rear window wiper decided to move with them. Tried it again and it happened again. Well strange. It was after a night of very very heavy wind and rain. Guessing water must have got in somewhere. All appears fine now. When I started reading your topic I thought you were going to say the exact same thing!
  16. Saw the blue one going into McDonalds today actually in Threemilestone.
  17. Which Zed do you have Stevoe? I'm not RYN but I drive an 06 facelift gunmetal ending XGT. I see a blue one and a black one fairly often around Truro, normally when I'm in the van though, lol. Don't think I've seen RYN about before.
  18. I may be interested in the headunit and wheel spacers. How much for the pair considering they may be faulty?
  19. As above. Appears that somebody local has recently purchased a nice looking black Zed with HUGE wheels. Anybody on here?
  20. Ha, I had a dukes of hazzard horn on my Mazda 323f when I was 17. Oh dear!
  21. Na I wouldn't sand it. You dont want to scratch the black plastic underneath you see. Something like your finger nail is ideal as it won't scratch the underneath. It's only an idea.
