  1. Not sure I could go back to a Nismo after - may take the chance to look at something new. However the insurance are doing a full strip down of the car today to get a full and comprehensive view of the extend of the damage. If its still 50/50 they will take my decision into account and it's very likely I'll not be taking the car back. My 2 concerns are that they insist that now they can fix it, which would be annoying as i've made my decision. Secondly they don't give me a good value on it.
  2. Hi Guys - thanks for the comments and support, it makes a difference. So the initial repair cost has come in at around 16k as the steering column, suspension, wheel, a number of other parts .. needs to be replaced, i'm not sure i'd feel comfortable driving the car again at speed in the twisties given the amount of work that needs to happen. I have been given the option to repair it if I really want or write it off for the market value which would be around 24k. I think given everything i'd probably be better to take the cash, think about my next steps and then get something new in the new year.

  5. Thanks.. will do. Update. He has accepted liability.
  6. So sorry for your loss - that's a great photo of* you both.
  7. Thanks guys. Small update. I received a letter in the post yesterday from the other parties insurance company offering to repair my car, provide hire car etc if I go through their insurance. Almost seems like a ploy to minimise their costs. The good news is that they seem to be admitting it was their fault, so i'm awaiting a formal response from my insurance. There is one line at the bottom of the letter which has me a little worried which states that if I do not go through their insurance then I could be liable for costs to them. The problem I have is that i've already kicked of proceedings through my insurance in terms of repair, hire car etc. Any advice/comments welcome! have I made a mistake by not going through their insurance?
  8. Thanks everyone for your kind comments. It has surprised me how much of an impact it's had on me actually. However i'm sure i'll shake it off soon. Just really want to get an update on whether my car will be repairable or not .. fingers crossed!
  9. thanks Dan, I should get a view tomorrow/Wed as to whether it can be repaired. Your conclusion is the same that I got to after some deliberation. I just really hope that they can repair it. They're being great about hire car etc too - I've not been insistent on any type of car but they have said they'll provide me a similar car (TT) - either way I wasn't that fussed. thats Rabbit (Stu?) - yep I was surprised at how bad I felt. I like to feel I have good control over my body and emotion etc but it has really consumed me, and still is. Going to the docs this PM for a check-up as still feeling sick/sore. The OH and Mum are pressuring me into it! I'll keep on top of the repair and will want to see the repair work being carried out etc.
  10. They've not had chance to look at it yet - it was only dropped of from the compound this morning (to the wrong garage). So it'll be collected and moved to another car repair garage today/tomorrow and assessed this week. TBH it really could be either way - maybe just comes down to chassis damage or not? Also the airbags didn't deploy which was good.
  11. Good point - this is my first incident in 10 years of driving so it's a whole new process to me. My car is currently being collected from a garage where it was taken to the one that the insurers have picked to complete the repairs. I will be getting a call from the new garage in 1-2 days and at that point i'll tell them to not touch it until I hear from the claims team (hopefully that they accept full responsibility). Once I get the all clear, hopefully they can look at repair. But i'm not holding my breath. Also, I was fortunate as I also had a car following me and the guy gave me his number, took pictures and said he was a witness to it all.
  12. Thanks everyone - still gutted. Just trying to sort where to get the car repaired (if repairable). I am trying to decide whether to go with the garage as recommended by my insurance or find one myself. My concern is that if I find my oneself i'm going to be alone in my endeavor to get the standard to the correct level whereas the insurance will fight the battle on my behalf
  13. Guys, I won't get into too much detail at the moment as I've just raised the claim with insurance. However I thought i'd share the bad news that I was involved in an accident on Friday night. I am OK and walked away from accident. Loads of people came out to help and provide me with coffee etc and support with moving the traffic on. It's my first incident and i subsequently seemed to have a small bit of shock, being sick and shaking etc. To get to the accident, I was travelling south on Thame road in Little Milton at 9pm Friday night where a car came out of the Haseley junction at speed, clearly not realising it was a T-junction or even there was a house/wall on the other side of the road. Needless to say it was bad timing - as I saw his headlights I knew he wasn't going to be able to stop in time for the junction so I put on my breaks as soon as i could, car locked up slightly, he missed the left side of my car as I was able to slow but unfortunately caught the front right really badly. I'm absolutely gutted about the Z - I am moving in 3 weeks where I planned to keep the Z as a weekend/summer car. I also had plans to keep it forever as i've owned it from new. Now It looks like that won't be happening at all. Gangzoom - thank you for insisting we get dashcam's after your crash - this was in the pitch black so hopefully the footage will be of use still. James I PS - if I shouldn't have this on until the claim and case is closed - please tell me and I'll remove.

So the fact of the matter is, for example I'm paying £560 for road tax for the exact same car as someone who's has been registered more recently (not sure when the new rules came into force?). That's slightly annoying.
  16. Did you have any issues with MOT? Did you need to do the pedal dance or for O2 sensors etc
  17. Very true The wife is a lot happier
  18. This is my first post since it changed. I also have gone from logging in 2-3 times a day to once or twice a week. Echo all the comments made.
  19. I was watching Love Island at the time - apologies I cannot multi task . The point I was trying to make, which is very different to what I was actually saying is that there has been a surge in investment into the UK market from US companies since the weaker pound. I'll shut up now and keep the thread to what it is!
  20. Doubt it given Tesla is an American company and they'll be getting more revenue from the lower pound to USD. The X is manufactured in the US and imported into the UK, weak £ means without increasing the price Tesla was getting far less profit for each car sold in the UK than other markets. I suspect if the £ doesn't pick up even more price increases are coming. Don't want to turn this thread into something it's not but surely if Tesla operates in USD, is valued in USD and is floated on the NASDAQ, their value will increase due to a stronger dollar against the pound?
  21. Doubt it given Tesla is an American company and they'll be getting more revenue from the lower pound to USD. O and just as another point, of my my customers profits have 3x to over 180m a quarter since the vote to leave the EU.. again an American company who are investing heavily in the UK.
  22. The guy deserves a new model X as replacement as soon as he can IMO, none of this is of his own doing. I really don't see why he has any obligations to drive anything else.. not a clue why "daughters first place project awards" are being brought into the thread! .
  23. not sure why gang is getting so much stick for this?
