  1. So can these little babies according to litchfield!
  2. yep - something to keep me on the road until plans settle down. A lot of uncertainty at the moment! fast little car at that!
  3. So guys - thanks for your 5 pages of putting up with my questions, indecisiveness and general back and forth - as i'v been in a loan car from the insurers and then had to hire a car for a week, I've decided just to get on with it and make a purchase. Put down the money yesterday @ 1pm and collected the car at 5. It's my first turbo'd car, also with auto/"flappy paddles" but I find it stupidly quick, which is ideal for losing my license . Driving it back from Cov last night in the dark/grease it felt a slight bit uneasy on the back end which is contrary to what the reviews online have said, stating they're super planted, both the 4 and 2wd. For the money, fun, practicality, sound and comfort its a perfect balance. Must say i'm super happy with it and may end up keeping it longer than the 6 months I initially thought I would! My M240I
  4. test driving a 235/240 tomorrow - very keen to see how they drive! will also try a 135/140, just don't like the looks as much
  5. Guys ... What about imprezas for fun.. don't see many on the road! http://usedcars.subaru.co.uk/used-car-search/8002682-subaru-wrx-sti-wrx-sti-type-uk/
  6. Dan, due to a change in circumstances (personal ones), I'm not in a position to wait any longer than 2 weeks for a car. To keep me in a car, I'm looking at 235i and golf r until I can get something else later in the year with some saving. It's a shame I'm having to do this as I wanted to take my time and save, but if I can get a 235i for around 24k then i won't lose much on it when it comes to sell. I hope.
  7. its not massively cheap at all? its the right price for market. maybe could get an extra 500/1k. Nismos have fallen through the floor
  8. They stole your stock cats!!! Hahaha idiots Sorry to hear that though!
  9. never replied to me via PH or here - reading the previous threads from this car put me off too with the problems he has had with the car.
  10. yep, a couple of suggested that - so have friends but the look just doesn't sit right with me unfortunately but a good suggestion none the less. at the moment my head is with a GTR (if I can stretch to one i'd be happy with). I made the mistake of seeing a cayman gt4 today which looks like the perfect car for me, apart from the price. i've noticed you can get low millage relatively new M4's for around 35k now, not sure how much more they're going to depreciate but I do like the look, masculine, aggressive stance, capable. BUT I am not sure if I can get past its practicality and the fact its a BMW. need to test drive one I guess! Edit: plus not sure if the m4 has enough road presence?
  11. Thanks for this - the more i think about the Lotus the more it just makes me want a GTR - Id prefer a newer car also tbh and am not afraid of losing a little money for the privilege. I'm sure the VX is a very capable car but just no something id ever consider, they're too old, lack road presence, don't look particularly great etc. the 4c just looks to feminine for me tbh - i prefer something with a meaner looking road presence. I know i'm a pain in the arse with how picky i'm being but I just want something with road presence, aggressive, (not american), has some showmanship about it and theatre. I'd also like something relatively rare, and new! im struggling to get past a GTR, another 370z Nismo or the exige 350 (but the concern Lotus could fold at any point doesn't help there). I've always LOVED GTR's. the feeling I get when I see them, hear them etc just makes it everything I want from a car, but I find myself looking at them for 45-50k. funny you should say that - i'm thinking that more and more now lol I also did with my previous mk1, i love the z and find it difficult to find something that competes.
  12. Small update - agreed a figure with insurance. I'm not buzzing about it but I think its OK. probably just above market which is all I can ask for I guess. now to do some saving, mulling over the next couple months and then hopefully be in something new. thanks for all your help guys and will post pics once have the new car! ... whatever it may be (o, and no way will it be a bloody old ass continental GT )

  14. This is something i would 100% factor into cost of ownership - they also sell GTR's which i'm keeping my eye on at the moment. I have just had the insurance call me with a terrible figure from glass's guide as they're struggling to value it.. so it seems it's going to be a while before we reach agreement.
  15. Hi Guys - update on the kind of successful day. Lotus Silverstone - the Exige s 350 is an awesome car, unquestionably. I was pleasantly surprised as to how comfortable it was to drive! I didn't get much chance to push the car as it was extremely greasy on the roads but from what I did experience, I was very very impressed and certainly ticks the boxes! ps. I can't believe that they only make 300 cars a year! total. Porsche Silverstone - terrible experience, the sales guys were too busy to speak to me as they were all sat at their computers in the sales office... (make of that what you wish), the receptionist tried her best to get one of them to serve me, but they didn't bother. I subsequently called Reading Porsche and they were much much friendlier - he has just sent me the details for this which seems interesting ! http://locator.porsche.com/ipl-customer/ipl/details/details.ipl?md5=ac841964ee58533ae8b3ffe4abb533cf&url=uk - I am going to test drive this and the Cayman S sometime in the next couple of weeks. The price of the car however is firmly in the new GTR territory. Nissan Oxford - unwilling to let me come down to test drive the GTR they had in stock is its an 17 plate and I was at the time, asking for a 2-3 year old one. As it currently stands, its down to the Exige 350, 911 (of some variant) or GTR. Exciting times ahead.
  16. removable piece of plastic that clips onto the grill to cover the tow hook hole
  17. how about the f-type v6 supercharged? http://www.marshall.co.uk/jaguar/used-cars/7222459-jaguar-f-type-3.0-380-supercharged-v6-r-dynamic-2dr-auto/
  18. I really fancy something new rather then old but if I were looking at older cars, that would be exactly the direction i'd be heading in. I am off to see them tomorrow, the 350 sport. 380 would be too much of a stretch. I'm not concerned about the lack of comfort and luxuries, in-fact I prefer it like that as this is a second car to enjoy in evenings, weekends etc and the odd commute to the train station. really excited about the prospect and just hope i'm not let down. My one concern is that they are quite small... and a bit feminine in that sense (like an mx5) If I head down this route i'll for sure start looking into track days etc (I used to work part time at weekends as a lap day instructor when I was 17, great fun! so I'm not a complete novice). The main intention is to put a smile on my face, enjoy the process of going from a to b (nomatter where that is), bring some theater to the driving experience and drive something that is rare, loud, different and isn't badge snob related. All that said, i'll be looking at a Cayman GTS too
  19. yep its a fair point - I just worry that the novelty of a 911 would wear off after a few months and its a bit too practical? however i'm off tomorrow to look at some as they're awesome none the less! Not really a fan of them TBH - i'd like to stay away from Hot Hatch type cars, plus prefer 2 seater. Nope. I had not considered Lotus - having looked online and numerous videos etc of the Exige 350 I am really really excited about seeing this car in the flesh, off to Lotus Silverstone tomorrow to check it out as it looks AWESOME, would appreciate your opinion on them and what you did and didn't love it about it Mustang nope. F-Type, v good option! wouldn't risk it and too old
  20. Love this BBK. Looks a little dated now but who cares, really nice looking car IMO. Certainly on the list. Only thought I have is that for 55k that's well into good GTR money so I'd really need to decide which way I want to go with my car.
  21. I have not spent much time looking into the 997 yet, common faults, running costs etc. However I have always liked 911's, the fact that they have bottomed out in price some what and are always desirable is also v appealing. It may be a stretch to get one but seems like a better investment than an M2 for example. Would love to get your view/suggestions on what to look for Hugh. The only thing that is deterring me from really considering them is that I may look bit of a plonker in it as i'm still relatively young and they're wrongly perceived as an "old mans car"... but then again, who cares. a GTR has always been my "dream car", I like the more "muscle" look of a GTR as they're brash, in your face and IMO demonstrate to the world that you live by your own rules, but maybe i'm reading too much into that . The running costs of GTR's worry me, also the fact that you look at them for sale, and all of a sudden you're telling yourself you must have a 2012 model as a minimum, a stage 4 litchfield and only in black. This takes it from a 45-50k car to 55-60 and something i can't afford. Maybe I should keep it a dream until I can save to buy one new. Very capable cars and always glance twice when I see them on the road, but just not enough road presence for me, seem to small and also quite "feminine". should I get the flame suit out the wardrobe - good suggestion but just not for me. Interesting you said AMV8 Dan, been looking at the prices for those too - I still think they look great, a V8 is awesome, nice road presence, and why not try an Aston! I'll certainly have this on my list. Again, not looked much into running costs etc yet. M2 seems like a very capable car, however they don't excite me in the same way as the others do. Plus i've never been a huge BMW/Merc fan, no matter the car. In the same way i'd never really entertain an R8. Thanks for the help guys. I'm sure this won't be a quick process so I intend to try as much cars as I can.
  22. Hi guys, I was told today that my 370z nismo is beyond repair, so the hunt for a new car will be underway in the new year. As it currently stands i'd have around £30k cash for a car and would consider finance for the right car. up to around 50k total. As you're all petrolheads and drive z's, we all like "drivers cars" and aren't fussed about badges. . . i'd like your opinions. My current list of options in order of preference. 1. GTR 2. 911 3. M2 All very different cars obviously. I have been reading up on GTR's and the maintenance/running costs worries me slightly. seems to be circa £300pm for litchfield warranty, plus spreading service costs over the 12 months. This is bit of a mind dump on you all but i'd really appreciate your wacky and wonderful suggestions. I would prefer a 2 seater, doesn't need to be super practical, I like something that has road presence (this puts me off the 911 and m2 slightly) and it must be different. This is why i loved my Nismo so much as it ticked all the boxes for sub 40k new. Also, i'm not keen on cars that are 6+ years old James
