  1. I think this is a very good idea. Sound wise, having the sub facing the back of the car actually sounds the best, something to do with the wavelength of the sub 80 hz soundwaves emanating from the sub. However, most amps have a phase switch to counter any issues regarding facing.
  2. Cool, so good for a while more then. Sent from my AT10LE-A using Tapatalk
  3. Of course! Hasn't changed much, exhaust, tyres brakes and servicing basically! While I remember, when did you last change the plugs?
  4. Will try and get a clip soon, bit embarrassed by how dirty the car is!
  5. Fitted an Invidia Gemini courtesy of Tarmac Sports on Friday to the car as my standard exhaust had the common fault of breaking the weld at the join where the back box pipe meets the mid tube pipe. I already had on the car some Berks HFC's and some DC Sports Headers. This now completes the chain! With the standard set up with standard cats, you all know what it sounds like, and many know what the Berks add, a metallic rasp which some like and some don't. Myself, I didn't mind it at all really, sounded purposeful if a little high pitched. With the Invidia fitted, that rasp has now gone completely. It now has a deeper roar, more akin to the original sound, but with added phwoar. Its not too loud just driving about, its not droney at motorway speed either but it is a great volume on WOT, very satisfying. Next step is an upREV where some ponies will hopefully be liberated. A very good choice if anyone is thinking about it.
  6. If it said 6 miles left, there was probably 66 miles left! I've found the dte reading very pessimistic. Redex is fine to use, though I doub't you'd notice any difference.
  7. Just want to say that 3k oil changes are a waste of oil! If the car was a highly stressed turbo engine maybe, but the zed engine isn't. It's not only a false economy, but too many oil changes were shown from analysis of used oil over on sxoc that too many oil changes may strip the linings of pipes. Recently changed low mileage oil had much higher silicon levels than brand new oil which could only come from the engine. 9k miles on a good synthetic oil would be no problem. 8. Its possible to get over 500 miles out of a tank, if driving economically on the motorway and ignoring the pessimistic DTE number, if you can average more than 28.4 mpg. I've done 515 before I chickened out once. On mixed runs I usually get about 420.
  9. My Berks have always failed the emmisions part of MOT since new. Annoying. Also thinking of going to a silenced decat option, or maybe a Motordyne XYZ with cat.
  10. If we are talking about cold starts here, which I presume we are, then pretty much any car runs richer at this phase to aid the cold starting. Back in the old days of carbs bore was was much more prevalent due the the imprecision of the fuelling, particularly with the choke. ECU controlled engines are much more tightly controlled, but still require an electronic form of choke, which does introduce more fuel which can in turn lead to bore wash. The level of bore wash these days would be much lower than with carbed cars but can still happen.
  11. I have looked in lots of modern cars petrol tanks and none have crud in. They all look spotless and as new. The crud stories are from the old days.
  12. I quite often do it and still have never managed to get more than 69 litres in. Very underoptimistic gauge. On a run over 500 miles is quite easily do-able, based on an 80 litre tank.
  13. For anyone who misses the other post, getting in and driving straight away is the best method. Leaving it idle doesn't warm the engine evenly and causes things like bore wash which in the long run, is much worse for the engine. If we had turbo's then cool down after a drive will be beneficial, but we (mostly) don't so no worries there!
  14. I don't think the Zed is particularly heavy. However, all the control inputs - the steering, clutch and gearbox, along with the lazy throttle travel make it 'feel' heavy to drive. Other cars are engineered to feel light, light gearshift, zingy throttle etc and that adds to the perception.
  15. I'm just about to pass 50k. At this rate I'll be at 100k in 10 years. I doubt I'll keep it that long!
  16. NGK's are as good as Denso's. If they are new and a tenner then yes I suppose they are worth it!
  17. One small point from the above, the S2k has far more than 60lbs/ft difference between the Zed. The S2000 has no more than 160 lbs/ft wheras the Zed has at least 100 more. In fact, the Zed has more torque on tickover than the S2000 has at peak. All I can say is have a good test drive in both. Both are excellent cars that goes about giving its thrills in quite different ways. Neither is a bad choice, it depends more on what you actually want.
  18. I didn't add Molyslip to mine and used the standard Nissan oil for both the box and the diff. Huge difference. I used the Nissan oils as with the 200sx box they were generally regarded as the best to use for smoothness so carried this logic over.
  19. Just changed the gearbox and diff oil on mine and it feels sooooo much nicer! The whole drivetrain feels smoother and tighter. Much better and I can't believe the difference it has made.
  20. I've got that set up - makes the sound less deep and more raspy which is good in it's own right. I'm positive it made it perkier and more free to rev too - more eager. Soon I'm planning on a Y pipe and UpRev to help it along some. EDIT: Just remembered it has headers too!
  21. Also, it's neighbour not the American way. Go get 'em!
  22. Who the heck are Holdcroft? Do you mean Horsham Developments?
  23. Most rear wheel drive cars can be a bit chattery and as mentioned I'd be inclined to leave it until it slips. My last car, a S14a 200sx has the exact same noise from the clutch all the time I owned it (7 years) and that was tuned a bit. It's a side effect of the front engine/rwd transmission layout.
  24. I would argue that you don't even need a full exhaust, just some hi flow cats/decats and a 'Y' pipe which joins up the exhausts from the two banks of the 'V' into one. The back box flows well enough. Few traders on here can sort you out with something suitable.
  25. Horsham Is a bit closer to you and Jez is also excellent with his computer gubbin wizardry, worth considering.
