  1. I've been looking a chemical rust removal and treatment for the e type bits Doogy, http://www.rust.co.uk Might be something similar over there? If nothing else, a great source of rust information. Anyway it will keep you busy.
  2. So if i paid £10k labour and it lasted 10 years, would that also be good value too? No, sorry, you misunderstood, it wasn't how much you paid or how long it's lasted but just how long ago the event happened.
  3. Stuarty said "its never missed a beat in 10 years!" So you had this done ten years ago and are asking if you paid too much?
  4. With the added bonus that he would then find it very hard to sell it!
  5. +1, Worcester boiler is £1000 ish. Make sure it's someone recommended and that the installation will be registered. If you're unsure, no harm getting another comparison quote.
  6. Easy solution, make neighbour offer on house, buy house, knock down house = bigger garden Alternatively, strip newly acquired house out for ZedShed v2.0 Better idea, Garden area on stilts thus creating covered area for all the Zeds, everyone happy and you get to appear on "Grand Designs"
  7. Are there any voids that could be filled with extra blue tak or plasticene to give it extra weight?
  8. Hi Chris, got married in Cyprus at a Registry Office at the Town Hall, just the two of us no fuss, even had to rope in a worker there as the witness. Wouldn't change anything if we did it again. Worth finding out with the Embassy of which ever country you want to get married in, what the requirements are paperwork wise etc.
  9. Was thinking that RT, plus the wire wheels on the E type that trap water. Very interesting but put off a bit by Dan's research saying it doesn't last long.
  10. As mentioned above the key is night vision, and high resolution cameras mated to a system that can actually record at the higher resolutions. No good something happening and then looking at fuzzy blurred pics.

    GTR Factory

Great documentary. Interesting that the only place they wouldn't allow the cameras was to paint shop." Ere you've missed a bit" Thanks for posting.
  12. Dbl post. Try this... http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/index.htm?t=87020
  13. Have a look at this, someone with a similar question and a few helpful replies and telephone numbers. http://www.honestjoh...dex.htm?t=87020.
  14. Stuarty said "I'm not looking forward to him finishing uni in may as there's simply no jobs for PE teachers just now." Have you thought instead about steering him towards a Trade, maybe Joinery, they seem to earn good money in your area.
  15. "See if us Scots had independence 25 years ago, we would have been the Dubai of the north!" what full of Russians, Arms Dealers, Fraudsters and Money Launderers?? Waite a minute......
  16. Looking good. Thanks for the info on the blasting set up. Looking into Soda or Crushed Walnut blasting for the body at the moment.
  17. St**rty???? What is it with the Government and what they try to do with my money? I've been doing a lot of work recently, therefore been giving the government lots of my hard earned money. Also I try to give the work to local guys, so lots of travelling for them and most of the time they do my work at night or weekends. Anyway I'm constantly getting tax demands. I had a guy who I'm not sure what he actually does, but charged me via the tax I pay for 5 days work, but only did two! When I pay them it's always cash in hand! Tried to offer other payments, wife, kids etc but they always want cash. They even have the audacity to fine me if I'm late handing the cash over or even filling forms in! All I can say is that all the work I've been getting done by the Government, is simply downgrades, I don't really need to get it done, but that's me finished giving them my hard earned cash. Any money that they get from me in the future will only be essential things and I'll be asking for benefits. I am thinking that IF this current recession lasts another 10 years and then they will all end up bust! Rant over!
  18. Stuarty, I remember you now! You posted last year that you only work Sat and Sun for he NHS but get paid the equivalent of 5 days Mon to Friday. http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/65741-what-to-do-with-all-my-spare-time/ "I'm now in the position where i have mon-fri free and i am bored out my nut!" Might i suggest a basic joinery course!! There are some that might say "Shafted" is what you will get when you come on here looking for sympathy.
  19. Stuarty, you say "I did shop about, I got a few quotes" you decided to employ him, he did a good job, how on earth does this constitute "SHAFTED"??? Shafted is when he says he needs £300 up front and you never see him again. When you handed over the money did you says here's your money mate and thanks for shafting me?
  20. Illegal immigrants!! That's the way forward mate. Put them up and they can renovate your house for food and lodgings!
  21. " I was trying to help him out " Don't feel so bad then.
  22. Yes, he did an excellent job, but no joiner is worth £300 cash in hand for a days work! So you would recommend him, "excellent job" but with the warning that he works a bit too quickly?
  23. out of interest if he had taken 3 days would you have offered him more?
