  1. It is not that rare for people to use them as daily drivers. I met a guy at Guildford who had done 145k in an S1! Yes, there are some practical issues - sill width, boot size and roof system - but with the more comfortable seats of the S2 I think you will be pleasantly surprised. However, my perception was based on having owned 2 Caterhams and 1 Westfield prior to getting the Elise The only thing I regretted was lowering mine - I should have left it as it was manufactured. Alex's idea of hiring one is a good way to go. If you want to experience what proper steering feels like, it's worth it for that alone.
  2. Phew... Plus I'm now driving an old man's car.....so by definition.....
  3. That noise level doesn't sound quite right. I always thought mine was pretty ok....maybe the roof wasn't correctly positioned/sealed or window issue. Never noticed anything dramatic about cross-winds either - the winds were very strong yesterday in some parts of the country.
  4. That should be fun. It's a sensation you can't beat.... the noise, proximity of buttocks to ground, the art of multiple corrections and increased desire................................. for dry and warm weather
  5. Sounds like you are going to enjoy your Zed to the full
  6. aboard. Sadly mine has just been sold by the dealer who took it. Good luck with your search.
  7. This may be an unusual approach but nowadays.......If someone consistently drives too close to my rear bumper, I wait for the next safe opportunity, pull over to the left and let them pass, so they can then annoy someone else. My theory is that these people have clearly had their brains removed without the aid of surgery so they are unlikely to be using their powers of observation and anticipation and hence are more likely to destroy my car and occupants. This also means that I remain in a calm and relaxed state (well sort of). Some people do it through sheer incompetence and not necessarily to make a point (this doesn't make it any better). It tends to happen more when I am driving the old Toyota. As my wife has a spine full of screws (exaggeration....well 8 anyway ) I don't really want anyone crashing into us..... in an ideal world. However, I would do this even if I was in the Jag or anything else. In days past, in a Caterham 7 on a B road, it didn't seem to happen as often. It's reminded me of something else. My father (sadly missed) was Head of East Surrey's police traffic department. His advice to me as a new driver was "if someone signals left assume they are going to turn right".
  8. Milltek and Berks also worth considering.
  9. Interesting stuff. Will follow your progress with interest
