  1. I have angle grinders and stuff if it comes to it, I assume my exhaust comes with new bolts, if not I have a store full of bolts where I will be fitting it so I guess we'll be okay on that front. I've got ratchet spanners, socket sets, breaker bars etc so hopefully okay on the tool front. My current back box is actually installed wonky so will be nice to resolve that too with the new one. My friend has just told me he actually has car ramps, so can the Z be reversed up ramps without scraping the front bumper? And how do I go about securing the car to the ramps? Definetly seems doable now
  2. Finally taken the plunge and ordered a Cobra Resonated cat back from Tarmac (much to my wallets disagreement). I am tempted to fit myself with the help of a friend. I am an okay mechanic and my friend is a decent bike mechanic, but doesn't work on cars much. Is replacing the back box and mid pipe an easy enough job? I don't have any ramps but I'm sure I could find some planks or something to reverse the car up to raise it a bit? Is it doable or should I just pay a garage to do it for me? Really looking forward to getting it fitted and making my car sound like it looks.
  3. How do you afford a 350z on £12k p.a!? I run an electrical contractors with my dad, I started as an apprentice and worked my way up. It's definetly a good career choice, if you are good you will always have work or be able to find work and the areas you can expand into or specialize in once qualified is vast. I'm just expanding the company into home automation, lighting control and audio/visual etc. You can also specialize in building control, lighting, fire alarms, intruder alarms.. the list is endless, the skills are all very similar you just need to learn the appropriate regulations and systems/design in each section. Only thing I'll say is it's very hard to get an apprenticeship in this industry, work is tough at the minute, most people are struggling to some degree and there's a lot of people fighting for a few apprenticeship spots.. I get a good few letters/CV's/Emails a week, so there's a lot of people looking, but don't let that stop you trying (for one, most letters and emails I receive have @*!# grammar and spelling so go straight in the bin!) and also there's no point giving up on something before you start. Apprenticeship pay is low, but I think you'll clear £12k p.a and within a few years of hard work you'd be up to £24k + depending where you work. Good luck with it.
  4. Saw a black roadster in Havant today, with the roof down haha. It's fricken' freezing!!!
  5. My friends company is also called RT Customs but he renovates VW Campervans etc. Good luck with the business Steve... I run a family business with my dad, we've about 35 staff at the minute but things are tough and it's hard work so be prepared to work your arse off!! But you usually don't get the nice things working for someone else.......... I've often contemplated starting another business with the intent to sell, but we'll see! Most ideas are covered nowadays, hard to find a real niche!
  6. 3D Is good for the price range that it now is.... it wasn't worth it when it first came out, it's not as amazing as it should be yet but seeing as you can pick up a 3D TV with glasses for less than £500 in some places it's definetly become more value for money. Personally I like cinema 3D as the glasses are cheap and light, some TV's are obviously better than others too... apparantly Samsung use the same tech in all their TV's but the SmartTV range is noticeable better than their lesser series IMO. I found Samsung to be the best that I've seen but I think it all comes down to a matter of opinion and each individuals expectations etc. 3D will continue to grow undoubtebly. Most films are being shot in 3D nowadays (and then released in 2D only ) and the technology will improve. They are already working on glasses-less 3D technology so it will no doubt happen one day, don't hold your breath for it though!!
  7. You need a HDMI cable from 1.3a upwards to support 3D. 1.4 introduces higher resolution capability up to 4096x2160 which isn't really signifcant for TV's but the main useful things at the minute is ARC (audio return channel) and ethernet support... means you can output the TV sound back to an ARC supporting AV reciever along the same cable and can also support ethernet connection which, with supporting equipment makes a mini-network so devices can talk to each other without adding additional cables etc. With regard to buying HDMI cables..... I can get numerous types from my suppliers, including the seriously expensive Monster cables, but I'll be perfectly honest I never install them!! I always use NEET cables, they are very well made, work perfectly and at a very good price. You can buy them from Amazon. Last ones I bought were less than £10 for a 1M 1.4a cable, which if you ask me is a good price range for a quality product. For runs over 15 metres I would forget a cable and use a HDMI Over Cat 6 Balun. Can be more expensive for some runs, much cheaper for others! In all honesty, if the cables you are currently using are working fine then you'd get more improvement by spending £20 on a Monster or THX Optimizer calibration DVD than on replacement cables...
  8. Haha that's excellent Suprised you got out of that, I wouldn't even try
  9. I usually hate deep dish wheels but for some reason I really like them what's going on? Maybe it's just the angle of the picture haha. Good luck with it, can't wait to see more pictures.
  10. Hey quick update, we've been busy as he has moved into a better unit so we've been building a new spray booth which means the car hasn't progressed significantly but we were waiting to get the booth done before even considering spraying! The wheel arch is now back to normal! It only needed a fine coat of filler in the end, I seriously can't believe he managed to get that out. He's had a VW split screen in for a while (that's his primary job) which was green but the paint was completely wrecked, it almost looked like primer it was that bad... I walked round the other side of it yesterday to see it gleaming and my ugly mug reflecting back, I asked if he'd resprayed that side and he said "No, just polished it up" it's bloody amazing, hopefully I'll get pictures of that too in case anyone is interested. I've decided that the door handles are now going to be colour matched in orange rather than black and the wheels are being refurbished in Ford Ash Black which is a lovely charcoal/black colour with silver flake to it. I'm missing the car but to be fair when I walked out of my flat this morning it was like walking into a freezer haha so could be worse times of year to have work done! I know but I'll get some up as soon as it's all done!!
  11. It's nice, very very nice! I hope to follow in the 370Z footsteps one day, for now saving for a house, boo

  13. Ahhh tempting, I've wanted one of these for ages. Don't hold it for me, but if I can summon up the monies I may be in contact... like I say though, if someone else wants it first then don't hesitate

  15. My zed is currently in the workshop having a minor repair to something I damaged last year but at same time having an N1 rear spoiler fitted, front bumper centre section sprayed black, door handles sprayed black, wheels stripped, refurbed and painted black, the whole car is being mopped to remove swirls etc, also having a rear sensor kit sprayed and fitted and I now have a car phone cradle to install so hoping to get my phone hooked up also. And maybe a stubby aerial! As for driving well the obligatory Goodwood breakfast club throughout the summer and definetly another trip away with the girlfriend, had such a good time in Cornwall last year. Other than that just as and when really, nothing major planned!
  16. You have a PM about the cradle if it's still available
  17. Well the Zed is in the garage, he sent me a small picture of the dent after only three hours work and it's back to it's original shape already!!!! I couldn't believe it.. The standard spoiler is off already, the door handles are off too... he's also spraying the front lip of the front bumper in satin black. I *might* be having my wheels refurbished in satin black also depending on a possible trade exchange!! (I install some lights in new spray booth, he does my wheels ) Pictures coming soon.
  18. Nice!!! That's what I dream of one day, 350Z now, 370Z next then an R8...! The thought keeps me going at work anyway haha. Really would like to see some pictures!
  19. Had a feeling they were both a bit rubbish thanks for confirming! I think I'm just going to stay with the spoiler and leave the rest, can't really justify spending too much on it... the spoiler will liven it up a bit. Maybe in the future.... although once I got the house sorted I hope, one day, to trade it for a 370Z so not much point spending too much on it!
  20. My car is going into spray shop for some bodywork repair and also to fit an N1 style rear spoiler which I've just received from ZMAN. I am hoping/aiming/dreaming of a complete N1 style bodykit, Shine is the logical choice but I can't really afford it I've found these two on ebay but don't want to waste my money, are they both rubbish? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NISSAN-350Z-F ... 4cfba889e3 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Nissan-350z-N ... 3a6d6ade67 I guess proper N1 style is a complete front bumper?
  21. How much and have you any pics? Do you know who made them?
  22. I have done and have just bought the rear wing but he doesn't have any other bits. I think I will be going replica as I've just seen the cost of a genuine not that they are possible to get hold of anyway!
  23. Does any one have any decent Nismo N1 style side skirts and / or rear spats going? Might be interested in front bumper price depending.
  24. Hmmm didn't realise that the N1 front bumper splitter thing is actually the whole bumper, I thought it just bolted on at the bottom May just be N1 spoiler, door handles and bodywork repair but either way I'm getting that spoiler
  25. Yeah might as well be positive! Forgot to say my front bumper is going to be resprayed too as it seems it was resprayed in the past and not the best job in the world! He did say it's probably going to take him about a month as he has to fit it in around his proper work but I don't mind too much as it is winter etc! Think I might finally fit my reverse sensors and get a stubby aerial whilst I'm at it! p.s I don't think I'll have any money left for petrol once it's done but the paint work is being done for cost so I'd be stupid not to get the bodykit fitted all in all it should work out to about £200 more than what my insurance excess is (£500) anyway so I'm not losing out too much and getting far more for my money.
