  1. Basically, next year I can buy myself a L200 Raging Bull to use for work. I love trucks and used to have a Warrior which I loved to bits! It's far more practical for work and general life too if I'm honest! It'd be a company vehicle so I won't (personally) have to pay for the truck, running costs or for the most part, fuel. Now, the condition is that I'd probably need to sell my Nissan as I can't really have two big flashy vehicles... I love my Nissan but it's a pure luxury used only for fun, when I can actually afford to run it! The sensible side says go for it, I'd dramatically reduce my personal overheads and would free up the nissan money for a house deposit as I'm saving for a house... but the fun side says I don't want to sell my Nissan This is probably the wrong place to ask this question as you're all biased (including me ) but what would you HONESTLY do in this situation? Free nice vehicle with no running costs, albeit not a sports car.... or stick with a crappy Fiat "Postman Pat" Doblo and keep the Nissan which I sometimes struggle to run and barely use, but love to bits? I'm trying to bear in mind that it's my intentions to get a 370Z in a year or two, so I would be coming back if I did decide to go down the other route, and I guess it'd potentially give me a year or two of low out goings to save for the 370! And if business picks up then it'd be no problem at all. The reason behind having to chose is a bit complicated, I work for my dads company which I will be taking over in a few years time, however I've just launched a Home Technology side by myself which offers smart home automation, audio visual distribution and lighting control etc so i'm pretty much running my own side of the business, hence having to make some sacrifices. If I do this early-mid next year then I would end up with a nice house deposit, low outgoings and a nice truck... but no Z for a year or two things "might" change nearer the time and I wouldn't be looking to sell until nearer the time, but trying to get my ducks in a row now if that makes sense!! Thoughts?
  2. Last night, anyone from here? I parked close by (away from all other cars ) but the blue 350z was still there when I got back. Had a private plate but can't remember what it was.
  3. Well decided I need to sell some stuff in order to keep the Zed!! So first thing to go is my WR426 off road bike, it's road legal etc etc.. I won't go into too much detail, it's on ebay here; http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0608560099 Don't want it to go, but I kinda want to get my Zed back on the road!! If anyone from here buys it I'll throw in an akrapovic exhaust system included in the ebay sale price.. if not then I'll sell the exhaust seperately (it's not mint, but should still fetch a fair bit on ebay)
  4. Saw a gunmetal 350Z today at the Hilton Hotel in Farlington, Portsmouth.. it had ribbons on the front to doors as per wedding cars! Anyone from here? Also saw the yellow JDM heading towards burfields bridge, think he works at Halfords as it's often in that car park. Very bright!
  5. I had to do that with my VW transporter.... Took the door card off, removed the motor and pulled the window up then secured it up with some wood Did the trick
  6. As in renewable energies? We've looked into going into solar photovoltaic but it's so bloody expensive to get set up in and I can't convince someone to spend £15k on their house when, in their own words, "tesco/asda/b&Q will fit it for free and I get free electricity" most are oblivious to the fact they lose out on the FIT and only benefit from the free leccy if they're about during the days. I think renewables are a very important part and the way forward, but it just seems so hard to set up in if you haven't got loads of cash to flash on training and marketing.
  7. We recently lost a tender as one big name contractor came in £40k less than us somehow. And we're consistantly the cheapest/cheapest few yet the main contractors are making deals with other contractors to match our prices and because they do the mechanical as well they're winning the job over us, its ridiculous. Domestic market is rather quiet too, I think people are only spending on what they have to and for some reason electrics get ignored most the time! As there are few big projects out there the big names are now in our SME market and as you say they're buying the jobs which is a pain in the backside. We're going to stick it out I think we'll be okay overall provided the market does pick back up in the next year or so, but we're not making much money so often wonder why we bother! I might personaly lose my job as has been threatened this week (family company) but who knows. What made you say about Oz? Is the grass greener over there? I've often considered it but never had the balls to do it and not sure I can/would at the minute.
  8. Is anyone else in the construction industry? electrical contractors?? Anyone suffering or is there work out there hiding away somewhere? Things have picked up this week but I'm struggling to find enough work for one sparks let alone our 16 staff. No point to the thread just ranting and wondered if anyone is in the same boat?
  9. I feel for you, my dad is having similar problems on a greater scale, first they done his Lexus and Jag tyres (19" rims at £200 a corner!) then they bettered themselves and threw paint stripped over the lexus, jag and dodge ram causing approx £15k of respray work (altho I think the jags been written off unfortunately!) Like you say, what can you do about it? His neighbour is "refusing to talk to the police" so the police say they are "dropping their investigation" It sucks and I can see why you want to sell up, doing something to them will just make the situation worse. I've just spent £2000 on security cameras to cover my dads drive simply so he can put the cars on there as at the minute he daren't leave them on his own gated drive, whats the world coming to? Hope you can find a solution, could you rent a local garage or park your car elsewhere? I know it's a pain but sometimes there's not much else you can do to solve the problem shame to have to sell the zed because of other low life f**kwits.
  10. Thanks very much but I think I'm going for the conti's advertised above.. however I have some serious work problems and have PM'ed dyla to let him know. Thanks again everyone, this forum rocks
  11. BARGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Agreed, I think I'll go with these as the price is good and 6mm means I should get a good few more miles out of them and won't have to worry the wallet for a bit longer... I'd like to thank everyone who's offered, too many to choose from! That's what I like about forums, everyones helpful and lots of options Dyla350z, I'll send you a PM later tonight/tomorrow to arrange finer details.
  12. How much would you want for posting these? Thanks.
  13. Hey, could you please let me know how much tread is left and how much you want for them and I'll get back to you. Much appreciated
  14. Looks good, any problems with reception etc?
  15. Yep, pretty sure I'm going to be speaking to Alex about these, just finding out fitting costs at the minute (hoping I can book the fitting to work account haha)
  16. Only need rears, the fronts still have plenty of life left.
  17. Ah that does look ideal, any idea how many miles id expect out of 3mm left? I'm trying to improve the financial situation but it might take a short while
  18. I need new rear tyres as mine are "highly illegal" no wonder it goes sideways so easily. I will be going for Falken 452's soon but I'm brassic at the minute so am going to have to fit some part worns to the rear for the time being. At the minute I'm going to have to leave the car on my mums drive until I can afford to sort it out. Anyone got anything at a reasonable cost? Don't mind if they are standard or whatever really, beggars can't be choosers. I'm based in Portsmouth so something local is ideal if not then someone willing to post them... Hope someone can help
  19. Turn all the circuits off, see if the RCCB's still trip ... turn circuits on one by one until it trips again then you know if the problem lies on a specific circuit. Unplug your fridge, these are most common cause of this type of tripping. Ideally you should get an electrician in as there's something going on somewhere. But if you insist, turn main switch of fuseboard off, make sure all connections in the fuseboard tight, make sure all connections on sockets etc are tight. unplug the fridge and all other apppliances as said, especially if it's old... see if that stops it.. if so then new fridge or have a non-rcd circuit installed for the fridge. If it's still tripping then call an electrician, if it's an old board you may have a faulty RCCB so will need proper electrical RCD and ramp tests done then possibly a fuseboard replacement. Also look at lighting, a blown lamp can trip an RCD/RCCB as can a bad lamp, worth a try. Thing is with RCD's, it can be many things.... If you're in hampshire/portsmouth send me a PM if you have no luck, if not and you have to go for an electrician, look for someone in the ECA.. it's not gonna be "cheap" but you'll get a good guaranteed job done. I'm an electrical contractor, but had quite a bit to drink so will look again tomorrow
  20. Hey, not keen on the stickers, but I love your zed! Ive been considering a spoiler and i think yours has topped it, I think I want the carbon and orange version of yours. Im looking forward to seeing it at the port Solent meet. I'm not usually one for body kits and spoilers but yours looks like its meant to be there in my opinion, looks factory. Also like that diffuser
  21. I'll join the club! I didn't realise it was pollen, just thought it was dust but my car gets covered, I polished it this morning and it's got a layer on it ALREADY. I figured it was because I park under a tree and on a busy main road... sucks can't wait to get a house with a drive, maybe a garage if I'm lucky!
  22. Cleaned the zed again this morning, already dusting over though looks awesome when cleaned but it seems to attract dust like crazy! oh well at least it's quick and easy to get it shiney again. I love auto glym fast glass too I think I might try a clay bar soon. Also noticed a few scrapes on my car I think someones opened their door into my passenger door as theres a small scratch that looks like a door hit.. also the rear left wheel arch has a 1 foot long scuff , very very fine not sure how it was done but I've never noticed it before. May well polish out but I'm not sure!
  23. Haha I saw you on the A35 when I was heading home today! Recognised the number plate (after looking at your cleaning thread in general) before I noticed it was attached to a zed else I would have waved enjoy your trip Saw a couple of orange Zeds actually! Literally 10 minutes apart going the other way on a dual carriageway I think it was? It was single carriageway where I saw you, on the A35 must have been around Honiton sort of area.
