*breathe in Does anyone else here have 'friends' that slam the door on their Zed? I have a 'friend' that always slams my doors, even when I tell him not to. Sometime its so hard I think the cars gonna roll over. Really gets my goat, its not like I slam the door on the way into his house... maybe I should start to.... or just tell him to get the sodding bus...

Thanks again for the replies guys. If I went TT I would need to get the engine rebuilt with uprated internals wouldn't I? May I ask if you dont mind, why did you sell your car Ian? Sent you an email mark

Thanks for the replies guys I really appreciate it Ian, how long have you had the kit on? Would you do anything different it you did it again? You had problems you have had with it?

Hi, I am planning to go FI at some point and before I start getting into buying kit I thought it would be a good idea to speak to your guys. I was planning on doing this in two phases. (Note I have a DE engine with 17k miles) phase 1: plenum spacer sports cats performance headers performance exhaust new clutch + lightened flywheel. better brake pads possibly suspension upgrades phase 2: fitting of HKS Supercharger kit I have read in a few places that the HKS kit is only for stock cars? So adding mods, or putting mods on before is pointless due to piggyback ECU limitations? Then I have read other places that adding a FCON V Pro ECU gets round this? As the car can be mapped to make use of the mods? Also what would be the rough cost for the fitting of the HKS SC kit? Also if all the above was fitted and was being used to its potential, would it be safe on stock internals? I am looking for 400 RWHP once i have finished... Sorry if these are silly questions. I have tried to do as much reading as I can but I cannot find answers to some of my questions so I thought it best to speak to the experts. Thanks for your time Dom

I cant help you with all of the points but regarding the handbrake, mine is crap as well my cars completely standard brake wise. I find if I park on a hill with the nose going down it does not 'bite' that well so I put it in gear. You say your brakes are upgraded? Which brake pads are you running? I have found in the past with brake upgrades people sometimes people put too harder pad on the back, which I found was a problem when running stock calipers on the back. For example I had a MK4 Golf which had EBC redstuff pads (Racing pads I believe so they need to be proper hot before they work right) and it failed an MOT because the handbrake was not strong enough. I changed the pads for some normal OEM ones and it passed the handbrake test fine. Otherwise you can give them a clean using brake cleaner and see if that helps? Regarding juddering brakes, I can only speak of experience again from my Golf. It had 4 pot brembos on the front with drilled and grooved disks, I found when braking softly I would get some judder through the peddle, not the steering or the car. I found it got worse when I switched to DS2500 Ferodo pads (however the braking performance was amazing), it might have been from the increased brake dust these pads produced. I found when I cleaned up the brakes it reduced the judder. Otherwise I believe warped brake disks can cause judder, so thats something to watch out for. I would still mention these points with the garage and see what they say, TBH I go to a specialist and they check the brakes as part of a service anyway. You can always check how much meat you have left on the pads and disks yourself visually. Hope this helps.

Some really sound advice here, only thing I can add is if you decide to change industry make sure you check that there is an active job market waiting for you on the other side! Whatever you do good luck!

Glad we have knocked some sense into you!

I finally got the Zed about 4 months ago. With a week I had driven down to London and took it through some tunnels and it was epic, I was nearly in tears I have saved for 3 years to get her - cut back on everything and made some sacrifices to be here holding these keys. I always knew I had brought a RWD two seater, one car that was on my list was a VW R32 performance and practicality. I didnt get one because my car before the Zed was a modded MK4 Golf Gti and I felt an R32 would not be that much of a change. So when the snow came in November and I could not drive the Zed all the time I am thinking should of got an R32 when I am sat there looking at the Zed covered in snow. But I took the Zed out today (was 5 degrees outside that will do!) and took it on one of my favorite country roads all those thoughts went. For me I find I only think the grass is greener when I am not behind the wheel. The day I get those thoughts when I am behind the wheel I will sell her, TBH I think thats gonna be a long time especially with summer on the way. I think all the fun I am going to have in the summer will keep me going through the winter. I know abit of a ramble but just my feelings/2p

The bit I love in the first one of after that his engine blew from ignoring said laptop and giving it another squirt of NOS. Then he proceeded to save Dom from the cops and powerslides round town... nice! Maybe he used some gaffer tape to fix it and it was one of the delete scenes!? All joking aside I do like all of the films and I expect I will watch the new one

I would be giving you my wallet if I didnt have a wedding to save for! Have a free bump -
Yeah I remember seeing this as well, think it needs to be 40mm deep or more for them to pay out. Also if you take pictures of the hole stick a ruler in there to prove its depth. Also checkout - http://www.potholes.co.uk/claims/how_to_claim might be worth a peek! All the best with this, I have also suffered with damage from pot holes as well but I didnt know until I got home (which was about 150 miles from the bleeding thing)

1. Yes 2. define wax and polish to me....... The Autoglym Super Resin Polish is a polish that has fillers in it. You need to use a specific wax on top of it. Polish and wax are different things. Polish has abrasives and wax seals the paint. Layering wax is fine but it's a good idea to 'strip' it all off every now and then to apply fresh wax to the clean paint. Cheers Stew, thats Sunday sorted!

I have just finished claying my car and I am knackard, was hungover doing it! I have been using Autoglyms kit which has just about run out. How does this kit compare to Megs? Also I have got two uber n00b questions: 1. Can I use the clay bar on my alloys? 2. I have used the "resin" polish after claying, do I need to wax the car again after that with normal polish? I might just wax it again anyway if it makes any difference having two coats on there? All the best

As other have said, if your running more than 200 ish bhp you really need to start thinking LSD on a FWD car. I had a MK4 Golf 1.8 T which I tuned to 200 whp, was an absolute nightmare getting those ponies to the tarmac It would suffer from torque steer most of the time, it could have been from my setup as I know of people who have had alot of fun out of tuned type R's. I think the type R's get away with it more as they are running less torque? I loved going to my Z as a result, but I have found it harder to get around in the winter. Dunno how much you have got to get spend, but an VW MK5 R32 would get my vote. Ticks all the boxes P.S. Happy new year all!

I just did a full set of Vred's worked out roughly 140 a corner. Was a bugger though as nowhere seems to have them in stock, got the rears from tyremen and the fronts off ebay. Personally I am not a fan of the 452's in the winter, I had them on a MK4 Golf Gti which was pushing out 210 hbp and that was a nightmare in the cold as they seem to need alot of heat to get the grip out of them. To fair though different car but I will never take then risk now and buy them for the Z, I have saved up too long and hard to wrap her round a lamp post because of crap tyres. I really think its worth spending the extra to get good tyres, I would rather a big tyre bill rather than a even bigger repair bill if you know what I mean?!

Another car for the mix - Skoda Fabia Diesel? My sisters got one cracking little machine.

I haven't seen how the suspension is made up on the Z as I have have only just got mine. But I had a clunk caused by worn track rod ends on my golf which was my last car, drove me mad until I found what it was. If you cars got low miles it probably not the track rod ends but if its more than say 50k maybe worth a look? I checked by jacking up the side in question and grabbing the wheel either side and pushing and pulling to see if there was an slop, when I drove the car I would hear clunking with no obvious pattern.

Looking for a Head Unit to replace the Bose...
Dom187 replied to djrm's topic in I.C.E & Electronics
Does that badboy work with the bluetooth adapter as well? One thing that has put me off upgrading is the fact that I want to use the cars in build hands free system. Also do these head units sound much better than the bose? -
06 just about the tickle 15k miles

Anyone know about website design/pricing ?
Dom187 replied to Tarmac@TarmacSportz's topic in Off Topic Discussion
Can you give us anymore info on your site, whats the site about? the market(s) your aiming at? etc How you are expecting to get traffic on your site? Through paid for adverting - which might not be Internet based, or you looking for people to find your site from organic search results? The reason I ask is so we can get an idea of what you have been quoted is it right for you? Some things to bear in mind... I have found alot of the value these people are adding to site design is search engine optimization (SEO) and a creative flare, as anyone can knock up a site with abit of time. To make it functional and intuitive and look good at the same time (in all browsers like stupid IE6) is an art. As its been pointed out there is alot more to SEO these days, you cant just spam meta tags with keywords to get a good page rank anymore. Google's bot is so smart it will look at the colour of text on a page vs its backrgound... if they are found to be the same it will drop the page from being indexed. Why? because there was a trend where people would add loads of keyword to a webpage at the bottom and have them as the same colour as the background so humans could not see it but Google could just to get a better page rank. So you would do a search for Nissan 350z or something and end up on a site about cheese... I sure may of you heard a year or two ago Google made more money than ITV in a year from advertising... So you know that Google 'works' its very hard to dupe Google these days when trying to get your page ranked... My point is that you need to get someone to optimize your site who knows how to do it correctly, theres not use in getting someone surfing your site about cheese when they are looking for info on 350z's. But like I say at the top of this rambling post, do you really need people to stumble across your site while searching? I work for a web design company out of hours and I work as a web developer as my full time job, I have done e-commerce website for some big names, if you ever want to pick my brain just pm me I will be happy to help. -
This is just my 2p guys I am just commenting on my experiences... I studied Wing Tsun for just over 2 years, it was good for me as it helped me to be calmer in 'situations' it was also comforting as my GF was training with me at the time so I knew she could look after herself. I dont want to preach but alot of people have said to me martial arts are no good in street fights, I know from personal experience you can pick apart the average Joe on the street with some very simple moves without my training I would not have been able to do this. People always go for the knock out hook, by the time they have twitched their shoulder you have chain punched them several times in the face so I do think martial arts have their place IMO. I have found there are two types of Wing Tsun that are taught, old and new. Old style you always defend your body so your guard is chest hight, new style your guard your head/neck height. The new style is the developing all the time as students adjust the theories behind it to make the martial art better. I have found the old style would be more tradional and the material that your learn never changes over time. Also if anyone is looking at youtube videos, checkout James Sinclair + Mark Philips for Wing Tsun as my teacher goes to them for lessons.
