Look, the Cayman S is a car I'd like to own but let's get the facts right. 2006 Basic Cayman S List price £44,250, quite a bit over £40k I'd say 2007 350Z HR List price £30,318 including full GT pack, metallic paint £450 extra. Depreciation on a basic Cayman S circa 28k and on an HR 21k. Adding loads of factory options doesn't really make much difference to the resale value of a 9-10 year old car, should make it easier to sell though. Anyway, I was only really picking up on the point someone made that a Cayman S was worth 3 times more than a DE engined Zed, probably true if you look at a 2003 DE but comparing like to like, 2007 Cayman S against 2007 HR then the poster is clearly wrong. A 2007 Cayman S can be had for around 16k these days, a 2007 HR around 9k. A 2007 Cayman S cost 50 grand when new, an HR cost in the region of 30 grand. While in percentage terms the Cayman has done a bit better than The Zed in actual £'s in your pocket its done a lot worse. They also cost a lot more to start with because Porsche make an average of $28k (2007 figures) on every car they sell, the highest profit margin of any car manufacturer. Pete A 2015 Cayman GTS list price is £55k but you think an S cost £50k eight years ago??? They were 45k when introduced in 2006 , but that was for the basic model which is very basic indeed. Add some of the things that you get as standard in the GT Package on the HR Zed, like electric seats, Bi-Xenon lights. rear window wiper. etc, plus metallic paint you're probably looking at an average sale price of around £50k, in fact looking at the list and eye watering price of options I'd bet that many Cayman S's actually cost their original owners 55k back in 2006/7. Snow is unheard of in the southern parts of Japan like Okinowa and in the North where heavy snow falls are common they use chains/snow tyres. Only in a few areas is salt still in limited use. Pete -
Until the hybrid/turbo version is available would be my best guess. Not selling well here but I've no idea what worlwide sales are like. Pete

I owned a Daewoo Lanos for 4 years, although it sat on my drive for most of the last 18 months. Pete

The thing is that houses over here are built to keep the heat in and that very few houses have A/C (around 0.5%) . Temperatures of 30 and over are quite unusual, maybe 1 or 2 days a year around here and up to 5 to10 a year in London and the south. With The U.K being further North than NZ is South our nights in mid summer are very short so the heat doesn't get to dissipate and temperatures can remain at 18-20 all night making sleep quite difficult for some. Heading up the A494 between Queensferry and Ewloe. Central barrier prevented further details. Pete

28 degrees today and around 19 overnight. I like the heat and have a very high tolerance to it, don't really feel it till 42/43 as long as humidity is low and I've got plenty of water . Also, I can sleep soundly on warm nights.....it's the cold that does me in. Pete

Welcome along. Quite a few have come over from the RX8, I'm sure someone who has will be along soon. Rust isn't a major issue on Zed's, mine's almost 10 years old and rust free (so far) Pete -
A few years ago in The States in a pretty remote National Park out in the desert I saw both Ravens and Magpies pulling dead bugs off the front of cars! Pete

Kittens at almost 5 weeks. Pete

You couldn't open the windows on the early production Europa's The S1's and they didn't have A/C either, all you could do was blow outside air in. Pete

Was behind one of these waiting to get on a ferry back from France last August. It was about 32 degrees and the driver looked like he was close to fainting lol. Awesome little car though and the sound when he was driving into the ferry was something else There were only just over 3,600 S2 Lotus Europa's built, the vast majority of which were shipped abroad. About 13,000 Europa's in all were produced most of these being the twin cam and big valve versions. A pretty rare sight even when I had mine and very rare now, only 30 S2's and around 200 Europa's in all. Nice car to drive, at least when it was actually running . Pete were they Dunlop alloys ? I believe they were Cosmic Wheels. Pete

What sort of idiot goes to buy a car without first checking to see if they can get/afford the insurance. woman who works on the desk opposite me Almost did it myself once, I was 22 at the time. Went for a test drive in a Lotus Elan, agreed a p/x deal with the garage selling the Elan then went to see the insurance broker I dealt with (no internet back then). Nobody would insure me, end of story, end of my Lotus Elan dream. Dealer was very understanding, refunded my £50 deposit. Pete

They could have sold a lot more but here in the U.K in the period 2003-2006 Nissan limited the number of cars that dealers could have. I was quoted 3 months waiting back in January 2006. Most of the production went to The States , around 160,000 units sold and the Japanese domestic market. I think Nissans profit on the 350Z comes from selling spare parts . Audi did a similar thing with the original TT, 3-4 month long waiting lists, they wanted to keep the cars exclusive and keep 2nd hand prices high, at least that's what the Audi dealer told me. Pete

Spots now starting to become visible and kittens are moving around under their own steam. It would seem like we have 3 females and 3 males . EDIT, After consulting a how to tell the sex of your kittens website, I now estimate we have 4 males and 2 females, sexing them is not as easy as you'd think Pete

Peaked at just a handful under 6,000 so just under a 10% drop. I would expect the numbers to drop at an ever accelerating rate in the next few years as A: They'll start becoming uneconomical to keep roadworthy and B: The slightest bump will result in a write off. Pete

If it's a 53 reg it'll be a CD rather than the DVD. Anyway, remote controls are very hard to find, I've never actually seen one for sale on here or on EBay. Pete

On the face of it yes, but it could have been wounded or already dead. We frequently see pheasants in our garden and the cats are not really interested so I'd guess that it was a lucky find. I have a few seed feeders in our garden, the lowest of them are around 6 feet high with the bottom rung at 5 feet yet I've seen one our cats leap from the ground and pluck a Great Tit from the lower rung. One of our cats once cornered a Polecat but was wisely unwilling to actually tackle it. Funny things cats, when we had a litter of lop eared rabbits loose in the house, the cats just ignored them, yet they're forever bringing wild ones in. Pete

A fully grown male pheasant . . We were out at the time so we don't know which cat was responsible and how it got it through the cat flap is anyone's guess . Also a couple of moles. Squirrels?, I've seen a few of our cats almost catch one but none have succeeded however, my mum had a cat that caught loads of them, she only found out when she discovered 20 or so squirrel tails in the back of the garden shed while it was being demolished. Pete EDIT....When I still lived with my parents one of my mum's cats also brought in a dead kingfisher, really strange as I've yet to see a kingfisher in this area in over 50 years.
