Pirelli are really struggling to come to grips with the problems and are blaming the tyre situation on the lack of test days. They currently test their tyres on a 2010 F1Toyota which bears little or no relationship to the 2013 cars. Pete

So when was the last time you felt yourself up...JetSet replied to The Bounty Bar Kid's topic in Off Topic Discussion I suffer from something called Lipoma. In my case it's fairly chronic although TBH it doesn't affect me at all. Lipoma's are basically benign tumours of fatty tissue that build up around blocked glands and are in general harmless, they can turn up just about anywhere on your body and usually run in families. I have in the region of 100 varying in size from a pea to a snooker ball. I also discovered a large lump just under my ear a few years ago which turned out to be a different kind of benign tumour. I do check my testicles fairly often but have given up having new lumps elsewhere checked out. Pete

Welcome along , whereabouts in North Wales? Pete

Pretty rare indeed. Counting yours I've seen 3 including a black one a few days ago on a 12 plate parked in amongst the door banging section of the car park at ASDA and wasn't there a white one on The Wales Run 2011? Pete

**Wales 2013 weekend drives - ROUTES NOW SENT**JetSet replied to glrnet's topic in National Events & Shows Not tempting fate but it looks like they've moved that one to the other side of Llangollen, it now looks to be on the road up to the Horseshoe Pass. Of course, the police are under no obligation to reveal where they set up shop for the day but I do believe that the list is fairly accurate. Pete

**Wales 2013 weekend drives - ROUTES NOW SENT**JetSet replied to glrnet's topic in National Events & Shows There's a list and map of every fixed camera in North Wales and the places where mobile van cameras are likely to be. However there are a number of unlisted spots where police cars and motor bikes will park up and record your speed. http://www.gosafe.org/ Pete

Hail stones this morning and hail and sleet this afternoon for me. What a difference 30 miles makes. Chris, It's been sunny here all day, not a drop of rain but pretty cold for mid May. Caroline said that it rained all day in Wrexham just 12 miles away. Tomorrow looks like a nightmare for you, we could possibly just miss it . Pete

I'm going to check on another computer right now. EDIT, opened O.K on a laptop, must have an outdated version of Adobe Reader on my main computer (well it is 9 years old ) Pete

After reading through various threads in the 3 years I've been on this forum it looks to me like the vast majority of accidents are coming off roundabouts in the wet and yes, I lost it on a roundabout many years ago luckily without hitting anything. Roundabouts create a fairly unique set of problems, first of all they nearly always have a double change of camber, which can make the car "go light" coming off the second change. Next, roundabouts are one of the most likely places for diesel spills due to camber changes I would imagine. These are the places that will see motor cyclists come off and trucks shed their load. There is a roundabout near to the Broughton retail park that had a truck tipping over almost weekly until it the camber was taken out of it. Many roundabouts are surfaced in one go, obviously in a circular pattern, but the roads that join them are tarmaced in a straight line. Where the two join there'll be a difference in grip and in some cases even a different surface, for example when they built the A55 it had a concrete surface, but all the roundabouts were asphalted. Of course, nearly all roundabouts are low speed, low gear and this is where the tyres will take a much larger lateral load and if it exceeds the tyres limits..well you're in trouble. Pete

Not good, looks like an attempt's been made on touching up some older damage already. Rust is setting in around the chips and if I'm not mistaken there's some rust bubbling going on further across the door. Don't know what can be done really but that rust needs to be treated before it gets out of hand. Pete

This is one of the main problems, you have teams that under fuel their cars, hoping that there'll be a safety car or two and if there isn't they just have to drive around at 90% to save fuel. Another alternative would be to throw F1 open to multiple tyre companies, although there'd be a strong possibility that we'd have a 2 speed grid . Pete

Each drivers already gets 18 sets of tyres every race, current rules also allow an extra set if both practice and qualy are wet. Obviously around half of those are wet weather tyres and some have to be returned even if they're unused. While I think removing the limit of tyres could be a good idea I'm not sure that Pirelli have the capacity to make an unlimited amount of tyres and transport them around the world to every race. Another possible problem is that teams would quickly work out which were the best tyres for each circuit and we'd finish up with the teams all employing the same strategy. Pete

I've now managed to get a really good fit but it took a bit of time and experimentation. Just needed to go a bit further under at the bottom before I pushed it under the strut. Pete
-
Yes, you need 9j, 255 is the widest you can go on 8.5j, and even that's pushing it a bit.. While it's certainly true that you can physically fit a 265 tyre most fitters would likely refuse to fit it. Pete
