  1. Thanks Chaps It does have a bit of road rash, but that can't be avoided really. Its actually Night Blue, but its really hard to get the true colour to show-up on the camera - its something like in this pic: or this:
  2. Got a bit busy with the wax yesterday, and wanted to try to learn the Photobucket thingy, so here goes… Reflections Frost Leather …sadly I’m considering selling my zed, ‘cos I’m just not using it enough due to all the work I’m doing on our house
  3. What is it about that car...it looks sensational
  4. Looks great - I'm not a big fan of many other wheels on the zed, but those look much better than the standard Rays....
  5. Probably more than me tbh. I used to check every time I used the car (I don't use it much), but that's got less and less often as I keep reading it as full and it never uses a drop, then again it's only done 23k miles. Yours and mine are both HRs, and I've found the same - it just doesn't use any oil at all.
  6. I'd be more concerned that your door seems to have fallen off....
  7. hows it coming along, i believe people are genuinely interested to see whats happened here ? The car seems to running fine, pressure readings look ok. I am getting it up on the ramps next week to flush it out. Jack, please accept my apologies for jumping to that conclusion - I can see haw that could have caused offence, and I don't want to get into a war of words. Similarly, in this case it seems that the garage may also be wrongly accused of not servicing the car correctly without knowing all of the facts about that. Good luck with the car, and provided the oil pressure is now ok, the oil consumption hasn't reached ridiculous levels and there are no new horrible knocking sounds form the engine, you might just have got away with it. Once again, sorry for any offence caused.
  8. Exactly this ^ - you can't really blame a garage if you've run a car low on oil for up to 3k miles. We are trying to be nice, but this seems like a major case of owner neglect
  9. Centrifugal force pushing the oil away from the sensor. Pete I'm no expert, but that shouldn't happen at road speeds with a full sump? That's right but once the oil drops below a certain level then centrifugal force on hard cornering can be enough to expose the sensor to fresh air. For some cars this can happen when you go up steep hills (I have experience of this ) and I would imagine it can happen when going down a steep hill, just depends there the sensor is mounted. Hard braking (yes, been there too) can also trigger the warning light if there isn't enough oil . Pete Its not oil surging away from a sensor if its the oil pressure light - its oil surging away from the pump pickup and therefore the pressure running low/the pump picking-up air and triggering the oil pressure light. The usual words of wisdom are that if the oil pressure light comes on during driving, then damage has most likely been done. Also if its 3000 miles since the service, it is possible that if the car uses a bit of oil or develops a leak it could be as low as you found, so it might not be the garage's fault. This is why it should be checked every week, 'cos the consumption can quickly change if for example a leak starts. As others have said, get the oil changed ASAP, as its likely run too hot, then hope for the best, check the level regularly and watch the pressure gauge.
  10. Just had a quick look around a black one at my local dealers...bit too fast and furious for my tastes, I'm afraid But the wheels
  11. Kiss Knob? Local lady of the night?! It was a bloke in the car lol! Maybe the owner was bought it as a 'gift' when they previously owned a BMW X5.... Definitely not a Merc...
  12. Just my thoughts for what they are worth.... I've always had Warranty Direct cover on my other cars, and so far they've been very good, touch wood. I am well aware that some people don't like the idea of paying for these kind of things, as on balance you should end up out-of pocket, otherwise their business model doesn't add-up. I know all of these companies are only offering insurance based warranties, so they are aiming not to pay out in order to make a profit. I don't think you can expect any warranty to cover an item that is legitimately wear and tear related such as a clutch - its a bit like expecting a warranty to pay out to replace worn-out tyres. As a recent example, my wife's Pug 207 just had an air conditioning fault costing £375 fixed, I paid for the repair, sent the claim form in and within 2 weeks, WD sent me a cheque for £325 after they deducted the £50 excess. This year's cover has more than paid for itself on that one claim, but I still have cover in case anything big goes wrong. What you need to do to make sure you get the best chance of a successful claim is to read their T's & C's very carefully and follow them to the letter, particularly with respect to servicing, MOTs and keeping documents/invoices. You'll be throwing your money away if you service the car yourself and pay for a warranty.
  13. Maybe they meant **ALL 4 WHEELS STILL ON IT**?
  14. Sorry to hear you're having a nightmare time at the moment, Chris. Hope you get it all sorted out soon
  15. Looks great mate, bet you're over the moon to have the old girl back? :yahoo:
  16. 19k and 19 months between services The warranty won't be valid if that's the case. Still, at least its never been 'track raced'....
  17. You only need to watch the people walking along a pavement or in a shop talking or texting on their phone and crashing into objects or other people as they do so to understand why people shouldn't be doing it while driving a car....
  18. Interesting: http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=27940
  19. I think the disks only update the mapping, but don't allow postcode inputs AFAIK
  20. Hello Ian, really sorry to hear about this situation, mate - makes my blood boil just reading about it. Hope you get her back better than before and that you're pleased with the work done As you say, retail therapy is probably the right answer in the circumstances Dave

    Airbag clip

I have seen an article on one of the US forums, and there seems to be a common rattle from a steel plate (knee protection???) that is over the ECU, beneath the lower half of the passenger dash. I think the steel plate is folded over at the top and hooks over a mounting bracket - they seemed to stick some foam draught excluder onto the mounting bracket and refitted the plate. Hope this helps.
  22. +1 - even if they did have cause to look into your history - if it is that long ago I highly doubt there is a record of it anywhere There is now...
