  1. So here we have some bloke off the internet saying that re040's are not suitable for the 350z. I think I will go with the opinion of the Nissan technical team who spec'ed the 040s as the oem tyre rather than a forum "expert" Thanks all the same Everything the the Nissan technical team have given the car as stock must be the best on the market then, eh? I haven idea why people on here have upgraded any parts on their car or furthermore why the majority of people stray away from the RE040s. Nice try. I never said the 040's were the best on the market. I just dont see how someone can say they are not suited to the 350z. The designers of the car would seem to beg to differ.
  2. 2nd gear+ 30mph+ wet road+ tight corner+ rear wheel drive+ newb driver = potential problems. Maybe get some more training at work. I really feel sorry for you damaging the car but the fact you say you are trained to a decent standard means you really should know better. Ive sat in the back of a cop car and had the lecture so maybe cops should heed their own advice.

  4. It could be the slave cylinder rod. Grease can be applied to it from underneath the car. Mine was squeaking and greasing cured it. The clutch is hydraulic rather than cable operated.
  5. 150mph (gps) on the autobahn coming back from the ring. I have lower profile tyres on the rear so this will hurt top speeds. The speedo was reading 170mph!

    Caterham 7

A little light veiwing for you from my R1 engined MNR vortx. A fast, tricky little thing that needed alot of TLC. Lots more on my youtube account. Get a 7, get it on track and have some great track fun!
  8. I am shocked at all prices in this thread!
  9. its not unusual for one adjustment to effect another. You normaly set one first then the other to minimise the effect the adjustment has. I think its camber then toe but I cant remember. It really does sound like you need to take the car somewhere else. I used a place in the past where "all the gear, no idea" seemed apt. I got a full refund when they failed miserably to set my wheel alignment. p.s dont worry about 0.01deg. It is so small you would never notice.
  10. My 350z is running Federal 595 rsr's as is the CSL. We rate them very highly. The vx is on R888's. The rain threatened all day but it stayed dry. I also took a spare set of rear tyres shod with toyo T1R's. I pumped them up to 47psi and had a go at a bit of drifting. They are suprisingly grippy but I did get a few good slides out of the slower corners!
  11. Cheers The CSL is my brother's and the vxt is my friend's. The vxt is running 272bhp and big torque. I am finding I have to work alot harder to lap with them these days with their big power and low weight setups. The Z, that they dismissed as being too heavy still susprises them though!
  12. correct dye that is added to system to check for leaks.
  13. Oh no you didn't What route did you do in the end? : I drive around the Edinburgh area regulary for work. I got busted in Earlston a few years back. 40 in a 30 zone. ( I was well outside the village itself but within the 30 limit after slowing from the 60 mph zone. ) A friend of mine just had a trip around scotland- he had a nice time apart from the 3 points and £60 fine for speeding.
  14. A friend had an 11 or 12 plate 370z conv as a loan car while his GTR was in for a service. The 370 was brand new- the driver side window caught on the roof every time, you could just see the mark on the roof fabric starting to appear. Shocking.
  15. They are bluestuff that I have in. Ive read about caliper flex. Maybe I need to swop the pads around every so often to even out the wear? I do rate the blues highly though.
  16. Another DIY service carried out- Engine oil, oil filter, air filter, PAS oil, diff oil, brake fluid bleed, Hand brake shoe and lever adjust. All is well but I did notice my brake pads have worn in a tapered fashion- the front inner pads have around 3mm at one edge and 5mm at the other edge. The outer pads look fine. I may refurb the calipers next but a new set of pads is on the shopping list.
  17. I had heard alot about these Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta tyres. Let me say now that I will not be trying them after the theads on here this week! On a serious note- check the tyres out or have them checked out for you.
  18. It might not have happened on the track, what if the OP was having a spirited drive at the Wales meet and this happened going through a 40 zone? What if someone split water on that road? What if a cat ran out? What if he was struck by lightning? What if the driver had bumped up a kerb while parking and damaged the tyre and then it went on to have a blow out? What should we do? Get rid of kurbs? Check our tyres every 100 meters? Accidents happen, learn from it, move on.
  19. This is the type of arguement that gets things banned. Why not have a law that states no one shall take part in a trackday and drive home on the same rubber. Accidents happen. Learn from it. Move on.
  20. I feel for the OP. I have often thought how will I take it if/when I crash on track. I do feel it’s down to the driver to do some basic checks on the car before driving on track. It’s no good saying "the car is looked after by a garage so it should be ok". If you are not comfortable checking condition and correct fitment of tyres and brakes- learn how to. I am concerned at the pic of the vred tyres. I have abused tyres for hours on end on an old airfield and never had a tyre go like that. I can imagine what would be said on the forum if it was a falken 452 or such tyre that had failed in that fashion. Vred's not all they are "cracked" up to be? OP- don’t go down the legal route with the garage. Price up the costs of getting your car back on the road with second hand parts. Get a price to see what the car is worth as it is now. Work out which situation is best and makes most financial sense - sell as is or repairing the car. Good luck.
  21. Have the related fuses been checked? Turn the air con on full cold. Does fan run? Is there 12v across the fan electrical connector? These things need to be carried out before parts are ordered.
  22. All mats are accounted for. Thanks for the interest Please lock thread.
  23. One of my friends is supposed to be picking his set up today. Ive told him they will be up for sale if he doesnt show up. I will update the post later. You are first reserve on them
