  1. Hi all I have the standard GT pack bose ICE in the car but the sub keeps cutting out. It kicks in when a swift blow is delivered to it but cuts out again when the car goes over a bump. It seems like there is a loose connection or a broken wire? I have had a look at the sub- not much to it but there is a small electrical unit connected to it, mounted just next to it on the bulkhead, what is this unit? and could this be the component with the problem? Thanks for any info.
  2. Sorry but I would say it sounds more like it was driver error, as in you were probably too close to the car in front. I am sorry to see your car like that but lets not have any BS.
  3. I got them from here but it was a while back: http://www.tyres-pneus-online.co.uk/?pa ... EC-24-GOO-[Pneus_Tyres]--S-[pneus%20tires]&xts=223987&gclid=CMCcvYilsa0CFaEhtAodjiyXng
  4. conti sport contact 3's are a very good all rounder. I had them on the rear of mine and they were spot on. Pricey though.
  5. Nice write up. It may come in handy one day
  6. Pads moving in caliper Annoying but nowt to worry about. Extra shims may help as may different pads.
  7. I have a driven an e92 m3. I have to say I am a BMW M fan but the e92 didnt do it for me. It's fast, no doubt but its just too refined to feel exciting at anything less than 100mph. It does grip, turn and stop very well. I found the steering to be too light and the gear change to feel flimsy and again too light. A great car if it floats your boat but I am after something a little more raw and involving.
  8. I know this car and know its a good one. The car is well looked after and highly polished! The owner is well fed and thirsty!
  9. I am a 350z winter tyre user. Have fun out there! viewtopic.php?f=60&t=42385
  10. Well said but be carefull, dont go against what the forum tyres "experts" say
  11. 452's are like t1r's melt very easy. Won't last long on track. Best dry track tyre is re040's. Very grippy once got and hard as hell to wear. 452's and t1r's are better suited to wet days. Are you running 18's or 19's mate. If 18's then as ekona said runner higher pressure as the sidewalls may get it bad. They're pretty soft in comparison to oem spec tyres Thats not my findings with the 452 but everyone reads these things differently. re040's are good in the dry but not the best.
  12. 452's will be fine, they are a hard wearing tyre and are OK on the grip levels. I would recommend 33psi all round if you are new to trackdays. I work my way down to 27psi front and 30psi rear (cold) for trackdays on tyres fitted to the standard rays wheels.
  13. Well done- nice purchase. I hope you find the winter tyres as good as I do. Mine are sitting the garage on the touring wheels just waiting to be called into action
  14. Yes, I plan to drive car on ring and spa circuit. I have previously done the ring on two occasions with my previous car (mk3 mr2). I have not done any trackdays with the Z but actually have a mk3 escort rs turbo which I have done several track days this year in. (doing cadwell park this sat) Current tyres on the Z are maxxis with good tread, never changed tyres since I got the car last year. Not 100% about disc/pad life however I'm sure Alex will keep me right. Cheers Steven Ok- a good service and a set of decent pads up front should be all you need . I use ebc bluestuff along with cooling ducts for track work. You may wish to go down the modding route with the Z but if you have a escort RST for track work, I would keep the Z mods to a minimum as its quite good as it is for the ring and euro driving. Most importantly- have fun out there!
  15. Are you driving the car on track? Have you done any trackdays before? What kind of tyres are on the car at the moment? Is there plenty life left in the discs and pads?
  16. The job in theory is simple but it depends on how much corrosion is on the threads/ nuts. I had an anti roll bar link which turned out to be a real pain in the arse. You can always try the job yourself- even if you run into problems with the links, you can put the wheels back on the car and drive to a garage.
  17. probably just your springs have sagged due to age and use. as for the knock, a cheap and easy check is to dissconnect the anti roll bar link and test to see if the knock goes. check this first as it costs nowt!
  18. better tyres and suspension would outweight any exhaust and uprev gains around a track.
  19. you have submitted your offer and the seller accepted so you have already committed to buy. even if you dont think the tyres are a good deal now, you have effectively purchased them.
  20. cosworth panel filter- proven to give 2bhp less than standars nissan paper filter in back to back dyno runs. There is lots of talk about extra this, that and the other about uprevs. I belive most of the perceived extra low down power is just due to the way the throttle body opening angle is changed compared to the throttle pedal position . Ive been in many straight line drags on german autobahns with mapped Z's and non mapped Z's and there has been nothing in it. Sorry to **** on peoples chips but they are my findings. I belive the best mods are suspension, brakes and tyres, along with practice at being a better driver. A standard Z is better than alot of Z drivers!
  21. Well matey i kinda did say what i want and obviously i'm not looking to take the car to its limits on tight b-roads. I suppose youre definition of handling is more specific to you. I suppose i should've said that i want to improve the chassis complaincy over the poorer bits of road which in turn would maybe lead to better handling perhaps!? I dont want to lower really so it would be nice to explore better dampers for more control on the aforementioned roads? Ta! Ok Matey, I just wanted to offer some help, but you crack on. Good luck with the ARB's.
  22. What do you want from your car? extra grip, less body roll, better turn in? I take handling to mean how controlable and adjustable the car is on the limit. Is this what you want to improve?
  23. Mine is dropped 20-25mm all round on bc's. I have lower profile tyres on at the moment 235/40/18 front and 255/35/18 rear. I did not require camber kits to get within nissan spec geo and I have not had any TCS problems.
  24. Don't get me wrong he is VERY good and the video shows it, but there's also a few mistakes. Care to point out where the mistakes are? I for one like all the Gymkhana vids. Top work!
