  1. Yeah thats a tough one as i do think i could probably get around 10% more easily elsewhere for that little money i dont think i would move.
  2. Hey guys i need some advice. I work in quite a niche up and coming field, and was recently head hunted by another company. They have given me the job spec and what the role entails. In terms of career move, the new company is much smaller but therefore has the potential for me to move up the ranks much faster and gain a more senior role more easily, being young this is quite tough in other bigger companies (and almost impossible in my company unless move boss leaves). The job I have now should be fairly secure (keep your fingers crossed) however the new job being that its for a smaller company potentially has a risk, although I do see it has an exciting future ahead of itself. I have met with them twice and feel that they would be an exciting move but only if the price is right. The company who head hunted me has no knowledge of what im earning now and has asked me to see if im in their price range. They offer less perks (holiday, pension etc..) so I have worked out my salary + what those perks are worth if I was to buy them and come up with a figure "X". But my question to you all is how much is an acceptable amount to ask for extra, in my mind i wouldn’t move for less then around X plus 25-28% extra, does that sound acceptable? Would you laugh someone out the door? I had read elsewhere that if you are approached you can expect up to a 45% increase. Is there any advice you have in general?
  3. i currently have an OEM system would i be able to swop in the new back box? (My OEM system has the common rusting flange fault)
  4. Bud imho they are about double the price they should be, i had a friend looking for a set a while back and they come up every so often on ebay and go for around £100 each chair. Probbaly not what you want to hear though sorry!
  5. It was for a Carpc I reckon, i looked at having a switch there and in the central collumn.
  6. yeah i think its per square meter so its the most pricey option i can find, but also seems to be the most easy to do.
  7. lol thanks for all the comments. Sadly its not that they are noisey the noise level is perfectly acceptable but the walls are so thin you can hear everything. I had been looking at a few options here was one i thought that seemed quite interesting. http://www.ikoustic.co.uk/Silent_Board/ ... 96816.aspx it implies you just screw it on then wall paper over with lniing paper.
  8. Hi All, I remember reading a post on here about someone who had some noisey neighbours so looked into sound insulation, but i cant find it. I have seen a few things, really its not so much our neighbours being noisey its more that the walls are made of paper painted to look like brick i think! (it must be the same for them) So ideally im looking for a cheap but easy and practicle solution to sound proof our bedroom so that if we go to bed early we dont have to listen to thier tv etc.. I have found a few things ranging from a plaster board type stuff that you screw ontop the wall and then lining paper over, to some latex sheeting. But i cant find anywhere online honest reviews / comments on how effective it is. Any help would be great. Thanks
  9. We have these in my office, and the first couple of weeks they came in litrally all the sweets were gone in like 2 days, so he was refilling twice a week, so thats prob about 30-50 packs sold a week at £1 each. (our office only has 60 people in so its small!) So i could see if you had a few offices you could start to real in the cash. However now in our office (2 or 3 months on) i never see them sold out and i barely see people eating them. TBH im also a little dissapointed that someone is making money from it, i stupidly thought it was a charity thing that was run by volunteers and I imagine alot of people do...personally im not sure how i would feel morally doing it if i was making a packet doing it.
  10. I've got the i5 2500k processor and generally very similar on everything else (built my computer almost exactly 1 year ago. On the parts, My only suggestion is to have a read of the graphics cards - I am running 470GTX (bought for SLI) and I have a premium motherboard (had a number of features I wanted at the time including some funky BIOS options). On the whole, building your own computer wins hands down. You get infinitely more for your money, you know exactly what goes into the box & you can plan for future upgrades and reuse high quality components. In addition, my 1 year old computer still feels, runs and functions as though it was brand new (touch wood) - this will not be the case with mass manufactured units which in my personal experience deteriorate significantly faster. Thanks bud, the GFX card was recommened in PC Format and when i looked online it seemed to get a bit of a hammering when it was full price but now its dropped it seems to get very good feedback, for the price.
  11. Hi All, Thanks for all your help so far, i think from the sounds of it the setup i proposed is the way forward although its about £100 over budget and will mean using my old hdd. I will stay clear of SLI and crossfire setups as dont have the cash to buy the extra gfx cards
  12. I completely agree im really suprised he was allowed to keep it, i had my wisdom teeth out when i was about 18, i asked to keep them and they said no. For health and saftey reasons apparently however they did show me one. Although saying that my dad had his gaule bladder removed and he asked to keep the gaule stone and they let him, so he has it in a little jar to wind up my nieces and nephews.
  13. Hes done some new vids! Check them out!
  14. Hi All, I was in a debate with someone about thier alloys a few weeks ago. I noticed they had massive chipping at the top of thier alloys, were talking £1 to £2 coin size, so massive chunks missing. No i was once told this was illegal as it can seriously increase the chance of a Blow out if you hit a bump on the motorway etc.. I was told it was teh same penalty as bald tires, so 3 points per wheel that was effected. Is that the case and what is the penalty?
  15. It should 'cope' ok but don't expect to run anything too fancy or too high resolution. For example I only have a 8800GT, it plays most games in a decent enough resolution to look good on a 46" LED TV but nothing special... I mostly play games on my Xbox or PS3 anyway... By that are you implying that it will struggle on say SKyrim, BF3 etc? if so what should i be looking at improving?
  16. How do you think it will cope with games?
  17. yh its currently around £90 over budget, so just going to do some looking on ebay at that price and see what i can get. Is there anything you would change?
  18. How about this spec people: Intel Core i5 2500K 3.3GHz Socket 1155 6MB Cache Retail Boxed Processor 251596 431 in stock £171.77 £143.14 £171.77 Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro rev 2 Socket 775, 1156, 1155, 1366, AM2, AM3 Heatpipe CPU Cooler 176157 328 in stock £14.99 Asus P8Z68-V LX Socket 1155 Onboard graphics output 8 Channel Audio ATX Motherboard 281367 48 in stock £76.37 £63.64 G-Skill 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600Mhz RipjawsX Memory Kit CL9 (9-9-9-24) 1.5V 264750 246 in stock £40.00 £33.33 £40.00 £33.33 Coolermaster Elite 334 Black Mid Tower Case with Coolermaster eXtreme Power 460W PSU 192207 21 in stock £64.67 £53.89 XFX HD 6850 XXX Edition 1GB GDDR5 Dual DVI HDMI DisplayPort PCI-E Graphics Card 290512 119 in stock £123.05 £102.54
  19. So of the three pcs listed it looks like the fastest phenom, sell out the gfx card and buy one of the ones recomended in pcformat for £100 is the best bet.
  20. Just read the PC Format article, and its a little cheeky as they make out the pc is £300 but actually once you add in the case, powersupply ram etc. its closer to £450 and is less powerfull then the pc from dell.
  21. Ah thats really interesting, as i knew the 2 at the front meant it was second gen but didnt know the k meant unlocked, is that always the case?
  22. That would be amazing if someone did have one kicking around it would help out. A quick quyestion for people, when i see "unlocked" processors is this something that can be done by an end user with firmware updates etc.. or is this something that has been actually done at factory? As i have overclocked pcs before but generally it has always been done by myself playing with settings rather then buying something off the shelf overclocked?
  23. Lol so now im falling back into the Ebay boat i think. I guess my real question is for £300-£400 what should i be doing? My PC case is not big enough to use so i would need to buy a new one if i went down that route, my hdd is 350gb so i could use that although not sure how much longer it will last, my dvd drives etc i could use fine. (barely use them anyway) GFX is a no go as its useless. I need to have a complete system that is working for the £300-£400 i will sort windows myself so dont need to worry about that. As i said i want to be able to play some games, for a couple of years and then after that the pc will be a internet movie media center pc. I reckon my old pc could go for around £50-70 on ebay, so if i strip it down i need to be saving that much.
