  1. This is more good stuff darren That cai is something I've been meaning to do for a long time but havn't got round to yet. Can I ask what size the 90 deg tube and couplers are and where you got them from please? Also, have you tested whether your bumper will go back on with the oil cooler in front of the intercooler? The reason I ask is I had to cut a good couple of inches out of my bumper to get it back on the other day after fitting mine. Mine is a bit bigger than yours so you might be ok.
  2. As stated above, you don't need spacers, but it would better with them. It would just bring the wheels out a bit to get them levelish with the wheel arch. Gives a much more aggressive stance.
  3. Yeah I have the take off plate style. Thanks for the info Mark.
  4. Mocal 92 Deg Thermostatic sandwich plate. What are the differences between the two Mark? Cheers Tim. My temperature sensor is mounted in a sandwich plate. Where is yours then? Also, the standard Thermo plates are set at 80degC so your is probably opening earlier than mine.
  5. Right then, I managed to fit the Driftworks 19 row oil cooler kit today. I've mounted it to the side of my intercooler and have tried to get as much of it in direct air flow as possible. I think its probably about 2/3 exposed. Been for a drive and it looks good so far. Quite a cool day, (11C) oil quickly warmed up to 80degC and pretty much stayed there while normal driving. Spirited driving got it up to about 92 but it quickly went down to 84 when in the cruise. Just as a test to see if it would get hot, I done a stationary test keeping the revs at 3k for about 2 mins and it soon got up to 100. Pulled away and within a minute it was back down to about 85. I will do some more monitoring over the next few days, but my initial impression is that is lowered my oil temps by about 5degC while driving normally but during spirited driving its lowered it by about 20degC ! Regarding the thermostatic sandwich plates and their temperature ratings, I think they start to open quite a bit lower then it states but is fully open by the stated temperature. My one is rated at 92 degC but it was definitely flowing some oil through the cooler at around 70 but not a lot, when I was pushing it it didn't go above the 92 that it states so would suggest that it was fully open. I suppose it would make sense as you wouldn't want cool oil in the cooler suddenly going into a HOT engine when it opened. Anyway, time will tell.
  6. Yep sounds like air. I bet they didn't bleed the inner nipples. Make a point of telling them that there are two nipples on each caliper - one inner, one outer. And make sure they do it the old fashion way (one person on the pedal and one doing the bleeding)
  7. Your mental Chris! This is epic.
  8. I've got the dba t3 discs , ds 2500 pads and hel lines combo on mine and I get no noise at all. I did put a fair bit of copper slip between the back of pads and shims and also on all the contact points between the pads and calipers.
  9. Yeah, drive up on something first. I use four bits of 4x4 timber with slopes cut on the end, drive up on all four. Then jack the back up on the rear diff (the knob that sticks out) and the front between the two pastic covers on the front cros-smember, I find the front one easiest to access from the side just behind the front wheel.
  10. Have a search on here, it has been discussed quite a few times recently. Click on my Garage link below for an idea of whats involved. Also its very worth reading the Vortech FAQ over on My350z.com that will have all your answers! As a rough guide to do it as safe as possible - Walbro 255 fuel pump or equivalent larger injectors Fuel Return system Get things free flowing, so Plenum, decat or HFC and decent exhaust Good tune - Uprev etc.. and as Dan says, good brakes and tyres!
  11. Cheers, she goes ok. Are you booked in for ya tune yet? To be honest I've got to stop spending for a bit as I'm getting married this summer and the missus thinks there is more important things to spend money on this year However, I'll be fitting an oil cooler this weekend, then oil catch can and cooler panel. Then I just need to re-finish the wheels as they are getting a bit scabby. Then I'll stop for a bit. Cheers Colin. Cheers Will, Col,Humpy Well, before all the Mods = 276 bhp ......After = 442 bhp...You do the Math As far as 0-60 is concerned I couldn't tell ya to be honest, the zed is a difficult car to get moving from a standstill but I would think well under the 5 second mark.
  12. I know, I did wonder whether to post the inside vid as it seems so lame! You really get no impression of speed etc on these cameras If you ask my dad if it was a nice calm place to be after he done a 20 min session as a passenger I think he would have something to say as he felt a bit under the weather. I would love to get to the ring sometime. I've got an oil cooler to fit etc...before I go anywhere else.
  13. I took part in a novice track day at Snetterton 300 a few weeks back to stretch the Zed's legs a bit after its latest tune at Abbey. It was a very well organised event run by Club MSV with 6 x 20 minute sessions through the day. The welcome brief was very professionally done and there was even briefs throughout the day on driving tips and track layout. There was an opportunity to have an instructor for 20 mins for £25 also. Unfortunately they were all booked up for the day. An eventful start to the day as a TVR Tuscan lost it under braking on lap 2 and ploughed into the armco Smashed the rear, the side and a wheel. Anyway, the Zed performed faultlessly and I had a really good day. The only problem encountered was that my oil temperature got VERY hot (138 degC) so could only do a couple of laps at a time and was taking it fairly easy. Saying that, I still don't remember anything overtaking me all day unless I was on a cool down lap. There was a good selection of cars there - Aston Martin V8 Vantage, Porsche Carrera 4, 350BHP Audi TT, Lotus Elan, a couple of Elises, VX220s, BMW M1, Caterham and an R35 GTR turned up for the last session. I spent most of my time racing round with the guy in the Aston who was a really nice guy. (but he couldn't catch me ) Here is a couple of pics and vids from the day - This my dad took from the pit wall - Me doing a flyby with the Aston chasing me down - This was a couple of laps taken on my bumper cam - And the same 2 laps from inside the car - Not brilliant, but you get the idea.
  14. Really? I done this the other week...took about 10 mins and couldn't believe it had taken me over a year to get round to doing it It worked for me, my boot now opens in one press and it doesn't fall on my head now.
  15. I had a similar fault on a cortina. Could be a small air leak on the fuel supply. Left standing the air will get in the hose and fuel will drain back into the tank. It will then take a while of turning it over to get the fuel up engine. Spraying the brake cleaner in gives it something flammable to ignite then once fired it will pull the fuel in from the tank. Worth having a look for perished hoses.
  16. Your not the only one. I never liked it when it first came out because I was also of the opinion that 'Americans can't do comedy' But I spent a whole day in 1996 round a mates house having a 'smoke' and we watched the whole first series, I laughed out loud on quite a few occasions. I think once you know the characters and their quirks its is very enjoyable and funny. Yeah, its not cleverly written, and it is predictable but it is funny and very easy to watch without having to concentrate. I've never bought any but will quite happily watch it on TV if I happen to flick channels and see its on.
  17. Yes your right 'True Dual' means two seperate pipes, one from each bank of the V6. However, some dual systems have an 'X' pipe in the middle, essentially not making it a true dual. Invidia do a couple of the best true dual exhausts out there - Invidia G200 and the Invidia Gemini (although this one has the X pipe) For an idea of sounds of different ones have a look here; viewtopic.php?f=23&t=56550
  18. to the club and well done for winning your fight.
  19. I grazed my knee once when I came off my bike. It was probably my fault though as the brick and ply wood ramp I made broke. Glad your ok and back in the drivers seat.
