  3. The 550D has a better sensor than my 450D so you should be able to get some fab shots...but remember for every "amazing" looking photo someone posts theres probably 10 rubbish versions of the same shot that no one else will ever see apart from the photographer...I know this is true for me, to get the shot below I took about 20 shots all with various settings and only 3 came out as any good!! There is no secrets to taking photos, just lots of practice/expermenting with the settings and sometimes you just get lucky The shot below was a random snap taken by a friend who just borrowed my camera to have a play, never held a DSLR and knew nothing about the theory of composition etc, everything was set to auto, he came back with alot of bland shots, some out of focus ones, but also some fab ones...moral of the story if you take enough photos some are bound to turn out well +1 I keep probably less then 50% of the photos I take in any given day and then I probably would only "show" 10% of these to friends/family and then I would estimate that from what I've got left I would be happy to print/frame/publish maybe 25% of the 10%. I took 200 photos of the bubbles above and am happy with 10 or so and have printed 1.
  4. http://cgxenergy.ca/documents/GMP-Dec15 ... Themes.pdf 37 pages???? Can you just summarise it please?? Just for you Sarnie I've now read it all. Aa well as being in FOGL I am buying CGX Energy and Pan Orient Energy (trading as OYL and POE on the Canadian Stock Exchange - TSX) on Monday.
  5. Page 3 - Executive summary FOGL 60-bagger (6000% upside) if all goes well in Q3/Q4. Worth £500 of anybody's money.

  7. Oh dear...... I'll put their first album up their as a nominee for "Greatest Debut" with maybe those by Led Zeppelin, Scritti Pollitti, Meatloaf, Sade, The Doors, Massive Attack. This hit me like a steam-roller as an impressionable 14 year-old and on to many hours of pathetic attempts to learn the "axe" Track 1 - Side 1. Turn it up all the way........................
  8. Thank f**k for that. I'm waiting for the GKP dip to top up but will it just keep going? £70k down in last 9 months so need it. FOGL for anybody who fancies a punt. High risk drill in Q3 Q4 this year but BIG upside.
  9. Yes you can. Lots of boats with spaces when I went in September 2007. Worst case scenario is book the day before if you want/need a specific time.

  11. Stay at Hotel Tomo in Japan Town. China Town is filthy (as are the Chinese) after you've stayed in Japan town. You can walk in to the city centre. Drink at Sutter Station Bar and The Kezar Pub Visit Alcatraz, the Presidio for $10mil dollar houses, Union Square and Pier 1 for shopping, Pier 39 for smelly sea lions. Drive down Lombard Street (I won't tell you why ) M De Yong Musuem on a Sunday morning and watch the dancing on the way out. Drive to Golden Gate and hopefully you'll get some fog. If the season is right, go to ANY sports occasion. If not, go to Bar Kezar and watch it. Go to Monterey.

  13. See above for my buying/selling history so don't ask me............... I sold £3k of my £9k in GKP last Thurs at 190 - up 60% since then. Mind you, I spent the £3k on RMP who are up 18% today so not all bad. Maybe you can find out what pre-market is doing on the DOW (45 mins to open) to inform your decision. If they are really offering 19-25 billion for GKP, the Yanks will want to be buying. Another post from iii: "Morning. So let me just say that I am typing from my phone on my way to work so apologies for the typos. I posted a few weeks ago about my friend who works in ebril who has some insight as.to what is.going on. I reposrted back that he said no bids were tabled and take over is 12 months away but people are aware. Ok so I haven't read any of the posts today just.logged on to share that out.of the blue I get a phone call.from.him, and he never does this. He said we got.huge news.appqrt.from BB1. Basically he has learned that there have been several offers in the last.few.weeks with 2 in the last week. He.said initially that thus was a done deal with Exxon due.to geopolitical reasons but recently there has been a $25b + bid slapped down!!! He thinks it is from chineese. His opinion is that the krg are in a tight.spot as they want the Americans there bit.now this.is a game chnager. He has.no idea if this bid.will be expected but he said that the gloves are.off the bidding is.truly.undrway even.though. it is behind closed doors. He is giddy like I am. He said we either get taken out within a few months by a low ball offer by Exxon or we get blown away. He also said chevron placed a bid lower than Exxon but doesn't have a number. This 25b bid is massive if it.goes through but he.also mentioned that again BB1 is bigger than everyone expected including shaikan. Will.type.more when I am in the office and not on the metro. Need to filter the posts! Gla just reporting back"

  15. Post from Chicago Jack on iii re GKP. He is saying he KNOWS of a £16.77 offer............... "The 19 billion dollar offer is there and after long conversation last night, it looks like it has been surpassed by another offer that is pretty well formulated and is 23% higher and this has the go- ahead it needs and only the Board and the KRG can stop it. Around 8 months ago, I put a figure on the value of GKP, based on what was known, that figure came from specialists in the US on a major exchange, where they look long term. The figure was $43.00 a share and posted on the KOEP board, that has now been surpassed and the specialists I mentioned above have re rated it to $61.00 a share. So confident on that first figure of $43.00 per share the Chinese used the information to line up GKP as their preferred option. Where does this stand today, well the KRG and Board of GKP know the answer to this question, and it’s about time they were up front. Where do we stand today, well moves have been afoot to get shareholders on side to accept a lower figure of around £ 8.30 a share to suit a particular company acting in concert with another , and the board may have accepedt this?. Unbeknown to the Board, they were not expecting a higher offer to get the okay and defiantly not in the public domain, with approval at highest level from another other US Major, and that has had them doing their utmost to have the required percentage of share holdings to rail road through a lower offer than what is out there currently. Well the field is open to US companies and 2 others, and there is 1 waiting on Shaikan 4 flow rates which are known to be well above expectations, but it could be other US majors have access to that info already. Where does this leave investors, well it’s simple. There are some High Net Clients invested through Capital R Management and two other companies who are using different brokers worldwide to increase their holdings , but they face stiff competition from others who have the inside track and who are only buying to make a quick buck, and may have been enlightened on the turnaround time for a quick deal Now will MG and other Financial Houses line up and accept the low offer, or will they and others be prepared to look at the whole field? Unfortunately, fund managers have a role here and they need to be persuaded to stand back and think about their individual clients that are invested in their funds. Will this happen, I don’t know, but what I do know is some big players in the US are buying all the way up to $6.30 per share and may go above this. " Now that is for them to decide, and in no way is a recommendation for anyone to buy. The buying of shares must be down to the individual who must do their own research and make decisions based on their own circumstances" GRH1 has alluded to the flow rates out of Shaikan 4, and along with Dalesmann and Zengas, they both have put together information that shows just how much GKP should be worth per share. Now in my opinion based on what I understand, PI’s have a role to play here, and it’s entirely possible to stop the lower offer from getting through, especially in light of what is known, and that is the $19 billion offer, and another that is 23% higher and been given the go ahead. Keep in MIND the re rated figure of $61.00 per share and the figure of $43.00 a share, the Chiniese used when making GKP their preferred option, as these are very important for investors to focus on. 19. Sorry, rude of me. Your pics are top notch as well. Looked on your FlickR site and they really are excellent. One thing. A lot of them have heavy vignetting. Have you added this or is this being caused by your lens? I added it, i know i do it too much, i just can't help myself I like moody looking pictures Still not quite got my head around how you managed to desaturate the buildings inside the bubble... I didn't. It's just lucky that the building in the original is quite monochrome so it just looks desaturated. If you look at the sky in the top left of the bubble, it's blue, not B&W. There's a few ways of doing this. My route is: 1 - Open original image and create a copy. Close original image to preserve. 2 - Go to: Layer, New Adjustment Layer, Black and White 3 - Select the Black and White Adjustment Layer in Layers 4 - Select the Brush Tool 5 - Set Foreground Colour to black 6 - Paint inside the bubble. 7 - Flatten image to merge the Layers. 8 - Adjust Levels and Sharpen etc. 9 - Crop 10 - Save as tiff or jpg Simples. Here's one in progress (not finished the flowers)

  21. Pleased with the bubble. Try focusing on a transparent object travelling at about 7 mph with the aperture at 2.8....... Took me 40 shots or more to get the one above. Typical failure (auto focus went through the bubble on to building) Original of above if you're interested.
  22. Paris - September 2011 Panorama from Montparnasse Tower. 7 shots in portrait stitched together in CS3. Final image (which I've printed and framed) is 6 feet by 1.5 feet.... Bubbles outside Hotel de Ville. Created an additional layer in CS3, made it B&W and then deleted the part of the layer where the bubble is so the original colour comes through and the background stays B&W. View from hotel balcony. 4 second exposure. No PP. Jardin du Luxembourg Just friends...... Tour Eifel - distorted by 10mm Sigma Stalking some newly-weds. The injunction finishes soon........ Tripod. 2s f18
  23. er.........no. Not really. Take a look at this site to see some great bokeh shots. Like Chris says, you really can't take these shots with an SLR (digital of otherwise) http://graphicalerts.com/50-stunning-ex ... otography/
  24. Bokeh can refer to the out-of-focus areas in an image. More commonly these days it is used as a judgement of the "quality" of the blur. It's derived from a Japanese word meaning haze (or blur) As with all things, you will be told by the experts that good bokeh is very expensive and you have to spend £1000s on a lens. As we know, as 350Z owners, not all good things are expensive and there are plenty of £100 to £500 lenses that will give "good" bokeh. Experiment with the focal length and aperture on your lens and you might find a combination that gives a pleasing blur.
