  1. I am not an electrician so others feel free to correct me. It looks like the CPC (earth) is connected to the metal back box and then a fly lead to the switch. Should the main CPC not be connected to the switch and then a fly lead to the back box. Also should the shower not be on an RCD protected circuit? If you have remade the conductors off into a new switch re-tighten them in a week or so. I find this site usefull. www.diynot.com. Regards
  2. Mines like that. I realised that when I unclip the seatbelt it flies over and the buckle hits the handle.
  3. I suppose.. I dont know what sort of info they share but I claimed anyway.
  4. Oops I aprear to have deletet the begining of my post while copying it into word for spell checking now fixed Bought car 7500 miles 08 plate 2 years ago. Took it for service at 10000. I mentioned the whine. The dealer said they thought there was a problem and would have to strip the gearbox to investigate. I was not happy but said ok as it was under warrantee. He then asked me to sign an authorisation. I said "but its under warrantee" He then explained that if they stripped the gearbox and found nothing wrong I would have to pay for the investigation and labour.... I decided just have the service and have a think. Received phone call to be told I needed a new rear wheel bearing but would not be charged for investigation as my wheel was about to fall off. Can have it ready tomorrow. Anyway at its next service took it to another dealer an pointed out the gearbox noise. This chap seamed much more knowledgeable and interested said "Nothing wrong with it, perfectly normal. We have had a few owner over the years come in with this and if the owner has insisted we investigate we have found nothing wrong" Now...... I think it must be normal because the car now has 40000 miles on it and it has not changed or gotten any worse. Surely if the dealer agrees there may be a fault how could I possible end up out of pocket on a car still under warrantee? Anybody clued up on the Nissan warrantee agreement as this loophole may prevent me buying another.
  5. A few years ago someone smashed the wing mirror off my Celica and some minor paint damage to door. I sourced a replacement for £70 second hand. Decided to call my insurance company because my my excess was only £100 and I had protected NCB and this would fix the door. Went as follows. Me......Will claiming affect my premium next year? Them......Yes, as you are making a claim you will be seen as a higher risk. Me......But I have protected NCB. Them......It will still affect your premium but not your NCB as you will be seen as a higher risk. Me......Well in that case I will not claim. Them......Now you have told us about this incident you will still be seen as a higher risk. Me......So next years premium will go up regardless of whether I claim or not? Them......Yes Sir. Me......But what if I hadn’t called you. Them......Then we would not know but it says in your policy all incidents must be reported. Me......Well I guess I might as well claim then........ Eh....
  6. Does anyone here who actually needs discs think rather than trying to hang the guy it might be worth approaching him for a group buy? As they say in Asia "good price for us, good price for him" kind of arrangement. ie. he still covers costs and makes a small profit and the people who actually need discs (and not are in it for profit) get a bit of discount due to the error? I presume anyone who genuinely need discs also need pads (at full price) which might make it more attractive to him. I hate to think of what our friend in the States are doing to him at the mo. Lets not bring ourselves to the "Lawsuit level" so favoured by our counterparts. Then we all save face as a community and get discs at a "reasonable price"
  7. I agree. It was too good to be true and we all know it. If every purchaser insisted on him honouring the deal it would probably bankrupt him (£300 loss on every sale, and there were lots) and you would still not get the parts. I think the correct route for him to take (though possibley not the correct route legaly from his point of view) would be to admit his mistake and offer them at what they cost him + delivery. Anyway I had a punt and will leave it at that. I liked the line in his email "due to overwhelming demand" The guy must have got a fright when he saw the orders. This does not explain the other odd pricing on that site that still remain. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rear-Brembo-B ... 4cf766dd60 If I had ordered these would I be able to pull out of a deal so easly....
  8. I am so glad I dont own a Skoda. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rear-Brembo-B ... 4cf766dd60 The prices for discs is all over the place on this site. Also some of the info is innacurate. God knows what we are going to get. Search for discs and order results cheapest first and then expensive first to see some very obsqure cars. Maybe he has bought a container of random discs........... Bizzare. However I think coldel is right. "I reckon its a typo on their advert, they have put the same price for the discs as the pads" Other discs have a delivery charge and these dont and pads are free delivery. I think the discs will be genuine. I dont think we will be seeing them.
  9. How can you have bought but not paid? Surely you will be at the top of the list of "No Contract." PS. no point in emailing, the price MUST be a mistake.
  10. Paypal has paid "Auto Performance" and taken the money from my credit card. The details at paypay clearly say "Front Brembo Brake Discs NISSAN 350 Z 3.5 02>10 Item Number 290567431269" Surely that means job done? I do feel a bit guilty for jumping on the band wagon though. Especialy if you look at the quantities they have sold...... If they do honour the order I will buy parts from them in future to ease the guilt. What I do not understand is why a trader on here has not bought them all? Is it Trader-trader respect? If so why does a Trader not buy all of them and then null the deal to save them making huge losses? I just wish it was Nissan that made the mistake, robbing b$tard5. Look at Nissan parts prices, if you bought all the parts to build a 350z it would cost about 2 million quid. Rant over.......
  11. Opened an Ebay account and Paypall Account just to take a punt at this. Got to be an error, I hope we dont bankrup the guy. Surely there is a condition in place to let this company escape all these commitments. Any one wondered why they have so many listings for the same item? The part numbers are correct but as ZMANALEX said the overall thickness is wrong. (Hope this is a typo.) I think if any of the traders on here thought there was any chance of this working out they would have bought all of the stock, and I presume they know the game. Anyway, we will see.
  12. FL-4 in the service manual. FUEL LEVEL SENSOR UNIT, FUEL FILTER AND FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY PFP:17042 Removal and Installation Its behind the bose sub. Manual here if you dont have it. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=45NVMGT4 Use the slow free download option. Extract to folder and open any PDF then select QUICK REFERENCE INDEX on left panel to make navigation easier. Let us know if it fixes it, mine is a little eratic at very low readings. PS. Take fire and spillage precautions.
  13. The chip thing is a passive transponder. Then you turn the key in the ignition there is a coil near the barrel which transmits a signal. The transponder picks these up in its tiny coil and uses the electricity generated to to transmit a code back to the car to disable the imobiliser. As for water damage? the small transponder package is encapsulate so should be water tight (you can see this if you remove the cover from your other key), however I would not risk it in salt water. The technology is the same as the passive key fobs that you hold against a small wall mounted panel next to a door, widely used for the lobby door in flats, apartments and offices. How about a short section of cycle inner tube, glued at one end and a food bag clip at the other.
  14. Doesn't on Caroline's MY07 roadster. Pete Is it definetly the origional nissan key? It should operate as above. Maybe its a replacent?
  15. Under the glove box? Found this when fitting the phone kit.
  16. Really I thought he slated it. The woman on 5th gear said it is one of the best cars she has ever driven.
  17. The traction control steps in very quickly when exiting a greasy roundabout in the wet I have found to my relief. I would never drive in the wet without it. Is it a problem pressing a button when you dont want its asistance? Not trying to be cheeky but I dont see it as a risk worth taking.
  18. I thought it might me good for members to share odd bits of information about the Z they have discovered. It would probably be a good idea to state Model, Year, UK or Import if it is relevant and the source eg. Owners manual, Service book etc. Don’t worry if you think every one already knows this. Not everyone is as knowledgeable as some of you guys Might come to nothing but a couple of members agreed it could be good. I will start, The air con is dis-engaged during full throttle operation. (Service Manual) The valet key which has no battery will disengage the immobiliser and start the car but will not open the glove box. (Owners manual) The car can stand the weight of at lease 18" of snow all over without damage. (Experience)
  19. I think that's a good idea, I didn't know the above! Then again I have a roadster so my air-con is only fully engaged when I'm at full throttle. And its "free air con" Whats a good idea? the little known facts thread?
  20. Sound like the main battery is fubared and is holding a little surface charge. Get the car started and drive it a bit. Stop it AT HOME Attach volt meter. (or use the one on the dash) Put headlamps on and watch the voltage drop. The battery in the key is only for the alarm and central locking. The imobiliser function is a passive device taking power from the car to transmit. This is why you can start the car with the valet key which has no battery. The only diference between the valet key and the normal key is that it wont open a locked glove box. Should we start a thread on little known facts about the Z? Thing like, The prop shaft is carbon fibre. The air con is dis-engaged during full throttle operation. etc.
  21. Intresting, so there are approx the same number of 370's on the road as Ferrari 360's.
  22. Impressed

    MOT due

I have often wondered why it is a problem, surley it is no different to coasting in neutral. Can any one enlighten me? Just wondering because I was thinking of having my rear Discs skimmed on the car with an on car brake lathe. Is this ok or will it result in damage. Cheers
  23. Mine is also scratched. I realised it is from the seatbelt buckle when I release it and let it go.
  24. BTW. If u r postn usin yr fone thn ok. If however you are using a full size keyboard then behave, it makes your post a b1tch to read. I have noticed a flatspot - jerk around 1500rpm if I apply throttle around this speed. However if I apply below this and run through it, its fine. Not that I would normally drive at such low engine speeds. Not noticed any problem with the rest of the rev band, apart from it going balistic above around 5500.
