Thanks again guys, I have been led to believe that in the event of a warrantee claim, I have to authorise the repairs and if it turns out to be covered under warrantee Nissan will pay for it. If however the damage/problem turns out to not be under warrantee (not sure how this could be considering that the drive train it covered for 60000 miles and it only has 13000 miles on it) I will need to pay for investigation and none warrantee repairs. Is this correct? If this is the case, the problem I have is: What is there to stop a stealer saying "yes we will need to do drop out the gearbox and investigate" even if there is no problem they will get paid anyway (me or Nissan). Surely if they say it needs investigating 'they' should take that risk. Also what did the second dealer have to gain by saying it is normal and there is no problem and turning away the work? In your guys opinion am I being unreasonable to expect this to be investigated (considering it was the Nissan dealer who reccomended it) without the risk of a huge bill on a car of this age/milage? PS I do believe that this needs looking at but don't want to get ripped off........

Called into another nissan dealer today, Their guy said that the noise was normal and if they were to drop the gear box for inspection they would not find a problem. Infact he said they had stripped a 350Z gearbox that was a lot noisier before and had not found any reason. What on earth should I do now?

Decided I have to get it sorted, If only because if it does disintegrate they have already warned me about the problem. What is the chance of them claiming it has been abused or finding something in the drive train that is not under warrantee as this age - mileage? Because I am absolutely skint.... I am thinking of taking it to the Livingston branch of AC simply because its closer and the mechanics at Glasgow AC left my doors, handles and service booklet covered in black greasy hand prints and also the workshop was full of very young mechanics. Anyone had any experience of Livingston AC. Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

Left my 08 Z at AC in Glasgow today for its P2 12800 miles. Got a phone call and apparently they will need to keep it as it needs a rear wheel bearing. Also they say there is some gearbox noise when idling in neutral so they have asked nissan for permission to drop out the gearbox for inspection. I had noticed this slight rotating type noise at idle and a slight whine when accelerating in first gear but put it down to the fact that the box is right next to the drivers seat because I don’t have any other problems. The thing is apart from not wanting them taking my whole gearbox apart at 12800 miles they also said I would need to authorise the work. Meaning if they take it out and can’t find a problem or it is not a warrantee issue I will have to foot the bill. My questions are. 1. How likely is it that there will be a fault in a gearbox of this age? 2. How likely is it that the fault will not be warranteed? 3. Why has a wheel bearing failed at this mileage? 4. Are they trying it on i.e. have they anything to gain by wanting to take out my gearbox. 5. Anyone else had similar faults or experiences. Thanks guys

I Bought a 08 plate GT a few months ago and had the same problem. After aproching the dealership they agreed to post me the cradel kit and asked me to source the BT adapter which they would pay for. I then fitted the stuff my self. However the puzzle is, even though the this stuff is standard equipment. It became obviouse that it had never been fitted before. I suspect that because my car was an ex demonstrator and this kit is probabley dealer fit (rather than factory fit) they never bothered. The BT adaptor was around £85, dont know about the cradel and white box (dealer supplied). There is a thread on here with the part numbers. Also I downloaded an installation manual but can't find it now. However from what I remember...... Disconnect battery earth. Remove base from large cubby behind passenger seat. Plug in 2 plugs into white box and attatch to underside off cubby base tray with black sticky pad. (reach in the plugs may be taped to harness) Plug cradel into 2 plugs below rectangular insert in center armrest. Wrap plugs with black foam thing. Fit cradel tray (mine did not quite fit and needed filing) Plug in BT module. Reconnect battery. PS if its a flip phone it may have to be closed for the system to function correctly. PPS This kit is standard on UK cars so I would ask your dealer why it is missing. He should be willing to supply and fit. PPPS Quote "Is there anywhere I can buy one? (I found the doc someone posted on this forum for how to fit it)." Sorry to much beer. Ignor my hazy recolection of installation and my sppelling................

Just thought I would round up this thread with the results. Dealer has now posted me the Telephone Kit (cradle an white box thing) p/n KE283-CDU01, thinking this had the bluetooth adapter included. They have now said if I go to a nissan dealer he will pay for the blue tooth adaptor over the phone. Dont know if I need the white bit as I have not had the glove box in bits yet. Am I right in thinking what I now have is some sort of upgrade kit for a car that did not have it fitted at the factory? because the cradle is already attached to a tray that goes in the cubby, but i see no screw holes in my cubby where it must have been previously? Did not get anywhere with the 2 previous owners thing. The 1st registered owner was a Nissan dealer and then the 2nd a Private owner. But I am happy anyway. Thanks for the help guys. richt I had a word with the salesman who took it as part ex for a mini cooper and he said. "It was a guy of 21 yeas old who was facing a court summons for a hefty speeding offence and was at risk of being banned. His father told him to trade it in for a cooper in hope that this may help his case in court." bhavin85 I don't think it's a lemon, it seams alright. Also at 7500 miles and under warrantee for 2 more years , what could be wrong? But I am aware of what others might think if I sell at 2 years old with 3 prev owners... PS If you were the previous owner would you mind getting a call from the new owner of your old car? Or would you be quite happy and tell them the facts, Given the info above? Thanks Chaps.

The fact that it has had 2 keepers instead of 1 would not affect the price. Also if you sold it in 1 years time with 3 keepers instead of 2 it would make no diffence to the sale price. Anyway because it was a 1 year old GT with 8500 miles (was actually 7500) and as the salesman said it was as advertised and unmarked, I left a deposit on the phone and agreed to pick it up in a weeks time. I have now had the car 2 weeks and have recieved the reg docs. My problem is the advert said amongst other things: 1. 1 Owner (which I confirmed was correct with the salesman). 2. Includes phone. Reg document has 2 previous owners (will this affect resale price if I want a 370z in a year or two?) And there is no bluetooth thing or cradel. Just wanted a bit of a heads up before I call him.
