  1. yeah motorway journeys its pretty gootd , i get as good if not better than my e46 325 got even wiht the extra litre and 90 odd ponnies . i think what scares/shocks most peeps is the fill up bill due to the huuge 80 litre tank but id sooner have that than the tiny tanks you get in evos , scoobs etc that cant do long drives on one tank.
  2. ooh youol have to let me know how that sub sounds ported as ive got the same one. nice sub although i think the power handling is a little ambitious .
  3. when you get chance id try compareing looms to your new unit vs the old one , could be some funky wires going on from previous owners.

    carbon wrap

you dont just polish it , you sanded it down till your past the messed up layer of resin and almost at the weave then put a fresh layer of resin over the top. then sand that shiney and clear coat it. see this thread http://my350z.com/forum/exterior-and-in ... rts-5.html about half way down , bonnet looks forked and is like new once hes finished.
  5. another plus for the carbon , scraped my lip big time few weeks back if had been painted wouldnt been pain and expensive mistake. but as it snot carbon i just sanded and re resined when i got home
  6. yeah oldest trick in the book that one , did mine out of lazyness as i couldnt be bothered to find the brake switch !
  7. There have been lots of discussions about these on audio forums, to a VERY technical level talking about the speed of electrons etc etc. The summary from the science is that if your alternator/battery is not up to powering the amp, its no more up to the job of charging the cap. indeed , there is a reason why top spl cars have tonnes of batteries , huge or even multiple alternaters and no caps !
  8. sadly just the one iphone shot of from the max power stand as i left in a tired rush and forgot th darn camera although i tihnk some of the guys i was with got some good shot so il post those as and when.

    carbon wrap

definatly , have a look on my350z (darn it why i do have to keep ref them!) there's a small guide on there or get a body shop to . bascially as long as the top layer of weave isnt damaged to badly you can sand it down and then re resin it , sand and laquer !
  10. /me starts the queue to buy one !
  11. didnt get chance to say hello but spotted a rather nice GTR with abbey guy and what I tihnk was AmYZed's rather tasty new prize on the maxpower stand ! car looked good and se you got the carbon bonnet sorted too
  12. good work for such a naf day , keep us all posted .
  13. yes should do , came up when i got mine done but i still sit like a hawk to make sure. only need to be a short .like end of the car park short to do the brake test.
  14. sorry not the facia , the 2 metal clamps that hold the bose in are bolted to the HU and then to the bulk head, using the same plate youve got there. trimmed the middle bar out then opened the hole out a little but enough take your time it will work fine.
  15. yeah mines not caged either , heres the trick though... dont mount it to the front of the dash liek the oem one is . mines scred to the facia trim them that is screwed to the bulk head and not to the front. this made installing it 100 times easyer infatc i couldnt get it all in wiht it mounted to the front ! plus it means takeing the front off to change things is not just 2 screws and unclip , dead easy ! okso you cant just pull the HU out but it also means neither can it be nicked that way !
  16. think you need spacers for pretty muhc every speaker out there , have a look here ..... http://my350z.com/forum/audio-and-video ... guide.html nice list of what fits and whats needed to get it to fit.
  17. ah thats the new one, well if it doesnt fit your in the same boat i was. either use the trim that came wiht it and have gaps, dint like the idea of that myself or carefully grind back the other one . i ground mine back at the top wiht a dremel a little at a time , if you work form the back forward you can make sure the finish isnt affected. does the front have to flip for cd access ? thats the main reason i had to trim mine , then just radius the corners a little.
  18. i tihnk a few have , have search round the ice section . i had to trim my facia and even then it still wont let my jvc flip properly, good job i never need to use cd/dvds
  19. nice one ! getting it trailered or just going to run it sans the charger belt . hope it goes well
  20. so 15th has been and gone , how di you get on ? havent heard of any exploding z's so im guessing it went ok >?
  21. hope you didnt scare him now... Guys....you forgotten already that srobrien was the one who wrote the guide on how to install a Pioneer AVIC-F900BT? yep ! well thats one thing off the list , but i guess i should have rad the list of needs better too bascially set budget , wait for replys on recommended stuff then go try and find somewher to listen to it and buy what you like best .
  22. yeah me to , just seen how big that post was !
  23. well first off the big B for budget how much have you got to/want to spend and do you alreayd have a new head unit as that will can eat up lot of cash if you want all the bells and wistles or be qute cheap and still get the job done well. if you dont have a headunit already , what do you want/need form it and doubel or single din. usb , probably thse days , bluetooth if you own a phone then yes, sat nav ??? single vs double tbh the double looks way neater than any facia plates imho and doenst need to cost that much more. dont want a huge box in your boot , that basically limits you to eith bin your spare wheel or pull apart the entire rear interior and get the bose plate out but either way its gonna have to be a custom box. so when your done wiht that lot post up and we can get started
  24. if theyre contis then i know what you mean ! not bad tyres though used to ahve them on my focus ST . will these fit a Z ok with those offsets or would be a spacers needed to clear brembos ?
