  1. You can say that again - I've been wanting this for weeks, but never get a response. Edit: Another day has passed, still nothing...
  2. Hi ScaryProwler - did you get my PM? Its no longer in my outbox.
  3. 4 Years NCB, All mods declared JDM model 5 Years Driving 24 Years old Clean license £1000 Protected (Sky Insurance)
  4. I have this with my garage - though I have about 5cm each side of me (for the entrance - it opens wider when I get in so I can get out). I highly recommend putting some foam on the corner of that wall - if you do hit it and going slowly (you should be), you won't scrape your car. Buy a couple of tubes of this: http://ace.imageg.net/graphics/product_ ... 0543dt.jpg, cut the pipe in half and stick it on that corner. For the sake of spending £10, its worth it.
  5. scaryprowler - you have PM. I've been after one of these for AGES! (you never replied to my PM about this weeks ago)
  6. Unless you have realy deep pockets, don't expect massive power gains. The ECU is rock solid and its difficult to get any substantial power upgrades. You may get the odd 10BHP for different exhaust, but the ECU corrects any mods - if you want silly speeds, your going to be spending thousands on forced induction. There are LOADS of mods for the zed though. New exhausts, interior and exterior cosmetic changes, new brakes, suspensions - all pretty reasonable considering other vehicles (i.e. a GTR would gobble your wallet up no problem, whereas a zed probably wouldn't for most). It all depends on what you want you zed to do and your personal taste. Check out some independent traders on here - a good place to start is looking on the adverts on the portal [home] section of the site). Tons of advice here - I'm fairly new myself!
  7. Not sure if this is the right section to post (mods, please move if not). I saw an episode of Road Wars today (the kind of program you only watch when totally bored out of your brain), however the usual annoying scouse guy says "copper Roy and PC Richards are following a surprising vehicle..." and the video shows them following a red Ferrari 360 down a busy road with it keeping itself in low revs whilst in traffic (hence making lots of noise). The police chaps were chatting away on film bantering about how great and fast the ferrari is, etc, etc and suddenly it pulls up against a silver 350z. On comes the annoying scouse man again; "however, this Nissan driver feels he is being put to shame so he puts 'is foot down after turning right at the roundabout...". The ferrari continued straight on, the zed turned right at the round about (after having literally nothing to do with the Ferrari), but went fast since it was a totally clear and straight road - nothing dangerous, he was just moving rapidly and slowed down after about 75m down the road (we all do it regardless). Encore the scouse narrator again "...but PC Richards has none of it and pulls the Nissan driver over to show 'im hoose boss..." (hence blue flashing lights, etc, etc). The next bit totally stunned me; the copper got out his car, opened the zed and spoke to the driver and asked him how fast he went versus the road limit (little harsh since no one was about, however in the eyes of plod this was breaking the law for 5 seconds). After concluding he went around 45mph on a 30mph road he then said in a sarcastic way to the zed driver "just 'cos theres a much better and faster car than your poxy Nissan and the Ferrari dented your pride, doesn't mean you can go and prove a point now does it mate?". He just gave him a verbal, saying keep speed down, etc - fair enough. However, when got back into the car he starts ranting on about how he told him whats what etc etc. The point I am stunned about is why some Police do this? They complain about having to keep stopping silly incidents and could be getting on with their job "sorting proper criminals out", but they obviously wanted an ego boost and throw some power around to show them they are boss. The poor zed driver cooperated fully and only went fast for about 5 seconds in a straight line on an empty road - it really annoys me that some coppers like going on these random ego "im the law your not" trips. I'm 100% sure if the Ferrari done it they'd be like "ahhh, listen to that its amazing" (unless he really went crazy speed). I just felt really sorry for the zed driver - he clearly wasnt showing off or doing anything dangerous and clearly slowed down later on down the road. Has anyone from here had a similar situation with plod?
  8. Incredible. It's the definition of what owning a sports car like the zed is all about. Since I am new to this thing, the only issue I have concerning me would be the distance between petrol stations - how do you arrange your trip so you guys don't get stuck in the middle of nowhere? no food, can't speak language, no petrol.
  9. I have a Stoplock as well (£29 from Halfords). I'm sure you could get it off if you knew what you were doing, however its clearly visible which is what I like. I'm hoping it gives the potential thief second thoughts and would think "what else does he have on it? A tracker? Nah...not worth it".
  10. Apart from the norm alarm and immobiliser I keep a steering wheel lock on it when in public places. I also remove the head unit fascia (pops out) and also make sure no sat nav sucker thing is on the window (indicating I have a sat nav unit in the car as well) - the same goes for iPod connections or the device itself left in view. I'm planning on getting a tracker as well. When at home it's also in the garage with a couple of good pad locks on it (plus my steering lock). Call me paranoid, but I'd rather spend a fortune locking it down and making it as unattractive to thieves as possible. Remember; the more security you have the longer it takes to get away - so hopefully there's more chance of them being caught. Plus it gives you a piece of mind. Also, don't park it in dodgy areas. I've only had my zed for a few weeks, so I am getting more used to leaving it parked - but I still get paranoid and tart about looking for perfect parking locations (I'm sure I always will).
  11. Top Gear is back on this Sunday (21st June), BBC 2 @ 8pm. Plus on the 28th we get an awesome episode: Veyron versus McLaren F1.
  12. My Method: 1) Wash by hand in 30*C water to get initial mud and and grit off (be careful not to scratch - always use a very soft cloth with plenty of water). 2) Wash again by hand with different clean cloth using Turtle Wax Ice Car wash 3) Get out the hose and set it to "flat shower" so its not super powerful and wash all the bubbles off 4) Leave to dry and clean interior whilst the sun gets to work. 5) Use autoglym super resin polish (one panel at a time) by hand 6) Clean off the polish with another piece of cloth 7) Use the buffer machine thingy if I want extra shine afterwards (don't press too hard though) 8) Use Sheepskin wool glove over and repeat for all other panels. This took me about 4 hours on Sunday, but well worth it.
  13. I wonder how much her insurance would be for it? 50p? You'd have the shock of your life if she pulled up alongside you with windows down at the lights and said - "lets roll!". My face would certainly drop in total shock! Well done to your sporting nan. Mine won't even sit in it, but my grandad has had a ride - he loves it (even when I go fast).
  14. I have them. I'm away from my car atm, but I'd say around H: 1cm W: 5-6cm
  15. Can you tell us how much all the interior parts will cost (i.e. seperately and together as a big pack). I'm very interested in the big pack with everything in it. Should include: > Door Handle trim > dial gauge cover > rear view mirror cover > window switches trim > center console trim (this is two versions since 2006 models have the hazard lights button in different location - need extra hole infront of gear stick, whereas older models don't need the hole) > center air vent covers Eagerly awaiting for prices and ETA for them!
  16. Replicate the RSW interior parts to the same or even better quality and you'll make a fortune. I'll buy the set off you for sure. The problem with the zed is it's interior lets it down, and the only kit out there that 'brightens' the interior up is made by RSW (for everything costs something around the £800 mark!). RSW prices are so heavily inflated because they know they have little to no competition (as stated before - £160 for a mirror cover is taking the mick considering what it is).
  17. Pfff no contest. I would pick the 2006 version and spend £2k on mods. You won't get an extra £2k back when you re-sell and if the quality of them are virtually the same with roughly same milleage then my money would be going on the 06.
  18. I got mine from: http://www.mazda3forums.com/enigma/ It fits perfectly and was delivered within a week from the US. The reception is no different. There are two choice - a stubby or an even stubbier stubby. I got the latter.
  19. could be a very loose drain cover on the road that rocks against itself and you drove over it - hence making it move. Who knows?!
  20. Not really a piece of advise but I had someone come to view my previous car to buy it, which was totally immaculate (pretty much like new). After his son ragged the nuts off it on a "test drive" (who apparently was a "property developer who had an M3" - yer right), his posh old man decided it wasn't a good enough quality and started telling me (very rudely) that my drivers side door had been resprayed and that the car had obviously been in a crash and I am trying to cover it up. Plus the brake pads are off and declined to show me why he had come to this conclusion (he had never driven it - his spoilt son did). Needless to say I stood their both truely stunned and extremely angry that someone would ever suggest something like this when all i ever seemed to do with the car was clean it non stop and drive ridiculously carefully. And I had to take a day off work for them to come and view it. I wouldn't had sold him the car even if he offered me twice the amount! Fortunately I sold it to a chap who really appreciated my efforts of looking after it and had a beaming smile from ear to ear - very happy it went to the right home.
  21. How hard is it to fit one of these? TBH - I don't fancy playing with the ECU soldering bits and pieces and mucking up the whole car. Would it be best to take it to someone who knows what they're doing or is it pretty much plug and play? Edit: I know the JDM cars are limited due to Jap law, however the UK ones are probably limited due to warranty / hardware issues. Taking a car over its 'peak' speed with original parts could surely damage certain components as the pressures are much greater? I'm sure many of you knows wayyy more than I do regarding mechanics, however I'd of thought Nissan would put a restriction on for a reason - not because they feel like it (they know how much the car can realistically take with few issues). If you push the car even harder, then you may need to upgrade other parts (hence why mega tuned monsters cost so much)
  22. I've seen a couple of these around London. Tons of weird and wonderful stuff around this area. I've also seen this matt black on a lambo G and a Rangey Sport. It's a Marmite thing - you either love it or hate it. I don't like it - I like to see car sparkle in the sun (this is what attracts most people). The only good thing for this paint is on the Batmobile.
  23. Thanks for all the kind comments guys. The second day I had it I went to my local Shell to fill up. The spaces were all full and about 20+ people were gawping at it (such a good feeling), whilst I was waiting to fill her up. I then went in to pay and some dude walked up behind - convo went like this: Guy: "Damn mate - that's such a lovely car" Me: "Thanks, its my new pride and joy" Guy: "what the make and model is it? Never seen one of those!" Me: "It's a Nissan 350z with the full Nismo bodykit on it" The cashier lady now starts talking Lady: "How much does that cost to insure?!" Me: "It's not too bad - well, not as bad as you think" Guy: "What engine size is it?" Me: "It's a 3.5 V6" Guy & Lady: "Woooo!" Guy: "That must shift mate!" I turn after getting my card back from paying and the next chap walks in; Guy 2: "That's such a nice car!" Summed up in a nut shell; its awesome! Getting lots of good attention from it and the great thing is, I don't even feel the need to go fast - people just look at it and know it has nothing to prove.
