  1. IF I was over there I'd get 80£ together and take it to a pro for a proper job and then just try and look after it until I book it in agian Wheres the fun in that? Theres something quite relaxing spending an entire sunday outside washing & waxing the car with a few drinks not the first time around for a newbie Think I'd give it to a pro and learn a few bits and then do it myself... to much to get to get started properly realy. Spent 140£ on just pads and polish and some claybar and red mist... I agree on the drinking part though really need to get a foam lance
  2. So there is hope since I cant Whats the story about the different types of polish restorers then?

  4. Hey, Got a new car the other day and it's BLACK we all know that black is the best colour for getting that deep deep shine when you do a proper job! Now about that, there was a few deep and I mean deep scratches on the car going from the hood up on the roof and then onto the boot (something that I think had been gotten from a car wash guide wheel with dirt on it ) SO! I got to work with cleaning the car, wash followed by claybar and then onto using the polisher. I had bought some Sonus SFX-1 - Swirl and Scratch Remover Pad with Sonus SFX-1 Restore Polish followed by Sonus SFX-3 Final Finish Polishing Pad using Sonus SFX-3 Final Finish Polish followed by 3 layers of Meguiars wax... 6 1/2 hours later I was 'finished' The front scratch is hardly visible if you don't know where to look and here comes the Q: I did about 20 odd passes with about 3-4 of polish and buffing, I started to get a bit worried on how much the paint would actually take. Is the Sonus stuff not very harsh on the paint? Thought I'd do one pass with the restore polish and be done with the swirls...but not so I'm going to revisit the scratch thats going from the hood onto the roof and ending at the boot but wondering if I should use something more abrasive to not have to do SO many passes...the car looks like a minter now but if you look properly you can see some swirls still... I'm still happy with the work but wondering if I can actually get rid of the scratch 100%, I've been told if you can't actually feel the scratch with your nail (getting stuck) you'd be able to correct it. Is that true? Note, this is the first time ever using a machine. Have to say it was hard work... but well worth it in the end, I also didn't bother with the masking tejp. Didnt see why I needed it... A
  5. Needs lowering and spacers... Thats what I'm going to do once it stops RAINING!
  6. Hi andlid, the car is still with them luckily, I'm currently talking to the insurance co, explaining the situation to them. Made my mind up, I'm not going to accept the car in it's current state, want them to sort it out properly Good man! And you're getting a loan car in the meantime YES?
  7. so does your mother but we all know to steer clear of things that are used, dirty and may have limited ability to blow eh its brand new so stfu and don't involve my mother... Might be something for my R6 project
  8. Leave it breath and have a nice drink tonight, not worth the hazzle IMO.
  9. I paid far to much for mine Think I landed in the region of €22k for a 03 JDM back in July 08...
  10. Suprised you even took it out of the bodyshop... keep at it...
  11. Hmm just feel that it engages the gear abruptly sometimes feeling a bit like a ‘bang’ unless you slip the clutch a bit if you know what I mean. Maybe your dual-mass flywheel is pooped. If the springs are worn or broken then the clutch will engage with more of a bang than normal. Personally I like my solid flywheel as it's lighter. It just means you ave to match revs a bit more carefully to avoid anything abrupt. Hmm so wonder if thats true because sometimes I get a clutch judder driving off with lowish revs... feels like the balance of the flywheel might be out? Interesting, you still on the stock clutch? I get a similar feeling on occasion with the Exedy + Fidanza combo, but I know that's just down to the nature of it at low speed nd me being slightly useless: It doesn't do it when I'm at speed with high tempo shifts. Could well be flywheel related, or a combination of that along with an adjustment needed on the clutch pedal itself? Might also be a slave or master cylinder issulutche, dodgy seal and it's jumping when you don't expect it. Does it do it when hot, cold, or random? Random completely... hot, cold, random... Can't put my hand on it. I'm still on the standard clutch and flywheel with 69k/km on the clock. If I 'bliip' on upshifts it does not seem to happen to often. Might look into the clutch pedal and master cylinder... could it be the clutch fluid too? Thinking of it when I press the clutch in I can hear it squeeky from the outside... ? Mmmm HELP!

  13. Was just to get an idea of what clutch type I'm after
  14. Hi guys, wondering what the best option for the gearbox would be when choosing clutch? I'm looking at something that nicely slips in the gears instead of fully engaging the gears from start. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slipper_clutch
  15. get it up on a Dyno and see whats wrong with it, with 34k on the clock... mmm HOW are you actually driving this baby???
