  1. I told my boss here this morning as it was in a company hired car. I work for a company that takes driving VERY seriously. It's in our contracts that if caught without a seatbelt on it is instant dismissal.... Luckily, he stated that 'Well, they can only fire you' which doesn't matter as I'm leaving mid december anyway! I did say I was going to expense it as we had a discussion last week about a guy that tried to expense a boat trip and a haircut while on a course!
  2. Dead decayed compressed animals provide a roof over my head. I've lived and worked in the arctic and arctic winter is depressing as hell..... no daylight at all. On the other side of the coin, arctic summer is weird, I did 6 weeks solid of nightshift and never saw darkness. I nearly always have music on, I'm not saying I couldn't live without it but it certainly makes life a little more pleasurable.
  3. Ok, I'm doing hard time. Nah, just paying the fine. I tried my best to be the clueless tourist (think hugh grant but Scottish....) on the phone. It didn't work!
  4. The Judge is a woman...... Hmmmmmmm.
  5. I'd still pick an S Class over an XK though personally. For an all rounder at this price point though the XK is hard to ignore. Others suggested do things better but always have a major compromise. I guess the trick to buying any car is finding the one with the least compromises!
  6. My point was that I guess I'd rather be cruising along in a high end, beautifully appointed saloon car for my 24k miles per year than be in a dated Aston Martin. It has the badge and I'm sure it'd be comfy but the value would plummet with that amount of use, the servicing would cripple and the fear of breaking down would do my nut..... Or to put it in other words I guess I'd pick an XK (even though it's not a saloon) over an Aston if the choice was between the two!
  7. Stop your Shenanigans! Sweet mother of god, this was a serious topic.......
  8. There are any number of cars in that price range. I'd realistically be basing it on running costs. Not fuel costs, but actual ownership costs. Also, at 24k per year I'd want something comfortable, screw the performance! If I wanted that I'd spend 20k on a barge and 10-15 on a weapon!
  9. Nope but I may or may not of been wearing my 'Redneck sh**ging a bear' outfit......
  10. The newer shape TT with a man engine is a great car. Very usable and very quick.
  11. Good Man Trucking! Needs PROPER tyres..... sorry, tires. Lift kit too!
  12. Alex, you are a true mentalist. You are to be congratulated on this!
  13. I'm waiting for people to ask about the 'Meow' thing..... Who doesn't know what I'm on about?
  14. It had to be done. I figured it would make a bad situation better (for me) so I couldn't resist.
  15. I am one. Got pulled over by the cops for speeding (82 in a 70) on my way to the GP Quals in Austin on Saturday. The limit changed from an 80 to a 70 and I didn't. Cruise control was on, I came over the top of a hill and saw the cop sitting, didn't realise I was speeding as I'd have had time to slow down! It was completely unintentional but entirely my fault for missing the sign. I have to call the county judge today to find out what my punishment is.... On a brighter note I did squeeze one 'Meow' into the conversation.
  16. Is the kit being wrapped to match the car Dixon? Or is there some other exciting developments where that is concerned? Car looks great, I'm excited to see the videos etc of it running.
  17. I got free Love Film instant for a year. I've watched a few on iPad and a few through the PS3. I have sky movies and wouldn't cancel the subscription for the online stuff for sure. The Love Film thing is good as it was free, it would be a waste of a fiver a month in my house though I fear!
  18. Why don't you get a job at tesco then????? Sounds like you'd whip them into shape..... Could it be a case of supply vs demand at the station you use? Maybe 99 isn't that popular so the distributors send the fuel to the stations that use a lot of it. Sure, you're unhappy but perhaps there is a whole town not too far away that is delighted that their supply hasn't stopped....
  19. But you won't be going as a nice American told you not to go........................will you He was trying to be nice I think. I haven't seen or heard anything about it here so if the penny hadn't dropped I'd have been none the wiser! Working hard Vik, it's a tough life at times!
  20. I'm really looking forward to seeing the circuit. It should be awesome!
  21. I'm working in Houston, Texas for a couple of weeks (Yeeeeeehaw!) and I have weekends free. I did a company driving thing this morning and the guy tolld me to avoid Austin at all costs over the weekend........ OH YES! So, a little googling and I'm now in possession of Practice and qualifying tickets for the first F1 GP in Austin. Looking forward to it!
  22. Zed can easily see 28 on a run even touch 30 with some consideration.
