  1. The XF xtreme f**kup I think. Two brand new jags with between them, paint issues, fueling problems, locking faults, window faults, about 3 million error messages and two trips on an AA truck and less than 9,000 miles between them!
  2. Today driving home in heavy rain I am presented with not one but now two error messages that are new to me. Jaguar XF Oil level monitor system fault and Jaguar XF water in fuel there is no water in my fuel and the oil level is fine. Here's an idea for Jaguar, if you are going to develop a driver information system with such detail, on order to prevent said system from infuriating the driver; try putting a bit of effort in so your cars aren't the most unreliable, error prone sh!t boxes ever to grace planet earth. No doubt after a nights rest the car will have gotten over this latest fit of hypochondria and return to it's normal state. This is the most unreliable car I have ever owned, and in stark comparison the most expensive (until recently). What the f&*k I ever bought this heap of crap for, and why I don't just cut my ridiculous jlr depreciation fueled losses, I shall never know.
  3. It seems not only is it possible to do what Im thinking of doing, but there are companies that can do it for you!
  4. OK, sounds daft, but seeing the house stew posted gave me an idea on the extra garage I wanted to build. Rather than have the front of the house dominated by garages, I was pondering the posibility of building a double or triple garage under the front garden with vertical hydraulic lifts and having the tops still retain the turf of the lawn, ala Thunderbirds.
  5. Can anyone help - Im not usually prone to such daft ideas, but I have one which I am investigating, more details only if it proves to be viable. One piece of information I would like to know is whether there is any legislation on how large a hole can be that is excavated in your own garden and remains well within your own property boundary? Anybody know?
  6. Hmm - not really thought of what I would change the Z for. I like the club here that much its the reason I keep it. I may be tempted to change it for another 350 that I could take on track days and still be part of the club. Obviously when the Z is many peoples second car, or even third, then the desire to change it is reduced imho. I cant actually see a time when I will want to change it. Id just like more time to get everything done Id like to get done on the car, whilst fitting it in around work, home and garden. Life is like a toilet roll, the nearer the end you get, the faster it goes!
  7. I bet you could "farm" a number of things in there out of sight....
  8. A 3.5L 6 cylinder engine running at 6000 RPM will be drawing in 5250 litres of air per minute or just over 185 cubic feet of air per minute. Thats getting on for over three upright Dysons all at the same time. For that 12v fan to generate in excess of what the car naturally draws, and blow more than 185 cubic feet of air per minute, would be... err... "Ambitious".
  9. It depends what sort of auto box you compare. There are some auto boxes that will change gear in 60 milliseconds that are not double clutch technology, which also perform brilliantly in full auto mode. The historic view of a manual stick being the "proper" way to drive is fast disappearing. Look at most modern day sports cars and you will find that the majority are offered with "auto" transmission and an increasing number don't even offer the option of a manual box.
  10. You think I put a phone number in, or a real email or postcode?
  11. I get £10,205 for my 2005 GT4 in yellow They do however get a bit worse with £24k for the Jag (59 plate with less than 4k on it !), and then they become just laughable on the fezza  Though who can blame them, they are set up purely to take advantage of those who cant be bothered to sell a car private, or those who want cash quick. I bet they have an office next door that will buy your gold off you if you have any spare.
  12. I think that is the reason that a straight swap is being offered. While the car may be younger, the dealer has a Sunset, Auto, JDM with non standard leather seats. For the dealer it is a depreciating asset, the longer he keeps that asset, the more the depreciation hits the profit margin. If he can do a straight swap for a car which he believes can be shifted quicker, then he limits the potential damage done to the profit margin on that single stock item. The dealer may consider the sunset to actually be of higher value than the GM car, but its only a potential profit while ever it sits on the books. Take a possible hit on the straight swap, but at least they may have a car that will shift quicker. My guess is that if you really want that car, there is a better deal to be done than even a straight swap. Enough cash your way to swap out the setas for the alzean perhaps?
  13. What a load of crap, Ive been doing more than this for years and Im a massive fat heffer!
  14. Looking at the way that the different surfaces are in shaddow at certain points I reckon it uses two projectors at right angles, or indeed a very, very good one at 45 degrees to the whole lot, and a LOT of time to render the lines at various angles to hit the 3d blockwork just right. The end result is very impressive stuff though!
  15. Worth mentioning that we certainly havent fallen out with the organisers, as they are the same people which organise many of the other shows that we have already attended and those which we are attending for the rest of the season. JAE just seemed to fall off the radar for us a couple of years ago when it moved quite far South East which at the time was a fair distance from a lot of our members. Now that the member base has expanded massively, there may certainly be a call to attend this again. If enough people voice up support for this then we will go, and of course we will look at discounting the tickets if we can should this be the case - though as the show wasnt on the original list, we may have to assess the budget to see if we can do that, so no guarantees.
  16. Not good to hear Derek. I totally agree, the courts are now turning into some sort of creche type affair where the decisions often beggar belief. You are obviously closer to the sharp end than myself, but the stories I hear along the same lines as yours make my blood boil. Even those that do get convicted are dealt with so lightly that its hardly any punishment/deterrent at all. The ammount of overly PC crap that gets put through our courts is unbvelieveable. I hear this morning that there is a case going to the high court seeking to stop the deportation of an illegal immigrant back to his home country as he is gay and will be persecuted for it in his own country as it is illegal... This paves a very dangerous precedent if set. Do we then become an open border to anyone from any country in which gay sexuality is illegal, afterall how do we prove they are lying if they turn up and say "Im gay and cant go home as I will be persecuted for it". How does someone who is clearly unstable, get let out of prison to shoot one man dead and serioulsy injur two more people including a police officer not even connected to the matter. We have absolutely no deterrent for offenders, a total lack of spine from the CPS which just renders all the polices work a waste of time and money, and an overly PC nanny state where criminals often get more rights than the people who they attacked in the first place! Its an absolute joke. Full credit to your son for the job he does, and hopefully one day he will be able to see the CPS finish the job and actually convict people. For now though Id back any vigilante group that metered out the punishment that the state seem incapable or unwilling to do. A bunch of £20 notes to the right person in a shady pub to one night put a hammer across the chaps knees would be a start.
  17. God knows they could do with someone who shows their customer service sector how to actually be personable with people
  18. Ahh yes - my mistake it does. If you notice the one on the left hand side, (the animated version of that icon next to the thread title on the left) - click that and that takes you to the first unread post of the thread. Hover over the icon for a description of where it takes you. Looks like the same icon, but the one next to the thread title takes you to the first unread post, the one next to the last posters name takes you to that last post.
  19. That button takes you to the first unread post on that thread. So it actually does already take you to where you left it

  22. At aprox £300k it certainly sounds like "good" value for mone compared to the likes of the Veyron - but Id agree with one of the comments after the article, it has XJ 220 written all over it. Fastest car round the nurburgring from an american manufacturer that boasts of its Nascar credentials? That technically demanding oval circuit... I reckon they could certainly build a good looking and rediculously fast car in a straight line, but the fastest round the ring statement will become a gerald ratner moment imho. I also reckon the price will be upward of £1m by the time it hits the "shelves" too.
  23. JLR, just like everyone else, know that Range Rovers dont go anywhere near off road. Though I think the off road prowess is one of the reasons they get bought, even though the customers will never use that of road prowess. They are also bought for their size in conjunction with the badge. By dropping its size considerably, one of the main "pose" factors in its size is lost, so I assume a section of the market will stick with the RR Sport. As I say, the fact that RR's rarely even make it off road now and are seen as nothing more than fashion accessories is backed up by the involvement of Victoria Beckham. Its the VB wanabees around the world that they want to buy this car afterall. There really is no other reason to involve such a marmite personality in their organisation unless it is specifically aimed at the permatan luis vitton weilding wag types on my opinion. It will be interesting to see its off road capabilities tested, and see how well it sells. Its certainly a bit of a gamble for JLR I think.
