He was! For about 6 seconds if I recall Jean Todt will also of course want to see the rule breaking by Ferrari dealt with harshley by the FIA....

Absolute disgrace. People pay to watch racing, we had two former world champions in the same car fighting for 1st and 2nd. Sometimes the gap was closing, and other times it was growing. We wanted to see the two former champs fight it out. Instead we got treated to a lame conceeding of the place and a procession to 1 & 2. Rubbish. Sure there are dangers, and they could end up taking each other off, but that is just the same if they are trying to pass a competitor. This is motor racing. Or at least it's supposed to be

Try First Point: http://www.tailoredinsurance.com/ They came up good for me when other companies were either very high or couldnt mirror my no claims due to the value of the two cars I wanted insured. They seem good when it comes to insuring either cars or people that dont fit in other insurers standard boxes.

I agree, if you are building a car that you want to "show off" at various club shows etc, then Lambo doors can be quite good I think. They just seem to set a car off that has already been heavily modified. Marks is a case in point, they look excellent I think and really are complimentary to a great car. On the other hand if the car is completely standard, then I wouldnt be considering lambo doors as my first mod, that may look a bit silly. Only Kit I would reccomend after having seen Marks is the LSD kit.

The Jaguar - more ways to tell me it's crap.

Seems there is some damage to a wiring loom, looks like its been worn by chafing on the engine cover. The chap tried telling me it could be a mouse. Well as its never been anywhere other than my drive or a works car park I find it highly unlikely. and Id like to know how he got under the engine cover and into a sealed section if it was, or indeed how he got out? Looks like either tool damage or chafing damage to me. Hes repaired the loom, (although looking at it there was no real damage to wiring) and replaced the fuse. Sweepstake on how long until the next issue? -

Its raining so Ive come inside to let him get on with it. I did comment on Jaguar proving that there is still such a thing as a job for life when they created Jaguar Assistance. He certainly wont go unemployed while they churn out cars like mine He saw the funny side too -

It is laughable. The car was actually built on a Thursday afternoon as I saw it in the factory. They were on a four day week at the time though, so it was effectively Friday afternoon. When the two cars were trundling down the production line and one was missing a windscreen alarm bells should have been ringing about just how well built these things were Guy is here now - so lets go and see what he has to say... -

Well - I got the car back yesterday. It needed new actuators for the Turbo - and I dont know if its me or not, but im getting mahhosive turbo lag now, but Ill put that down to always being there and just not paying attention. The electrical fault causing the other error messages was fixed too. Some electrical fault causing a fuse to blow was diagnosed. After about 24 to 30 miles, the faults are back again today. Im guessing its blown the fuse again. Now finding out why the car is blowing fuses is going to be a great barrell of laughs. Appologies for sounding like a broken record, but I want to publicise just how incredibly @*!# these cars are. Will be looking at getting rid now. JLR cars are simply piles of @*!#. Ive had better quality and more reliable cars from our local motor auctions that I bought for £300. Got a technician coming out to look at it within the hour. I hope he brings a can of petrol and a match. -
You can PM Urban4, as he should now be able to access stuff

I can't wait to see how many new rattles it develops once they've finished taking the thing apart and putting it back together again -

Ahh it appears I dont get a car from Jaguar assist, as I didnt call the recovery truck out. As I took it to the dealership myself (as the ****ing instruction manual tells me to), I am left at the dealers/service centres loan car policy, and strangely eneough they are all out - but the lady at Gordon Lambs was most helpful in trying to sort something, we may be able to find a car come Monday if mine wont be back (which it wont is my guess given the work to be done). Seriously, Jaguar are frigging laughable. I think ill go ahead with the suggestion of registering a domain and blogging this, its just hilarious at every turn. -

UPDATE: The car will not be fixed by the end of today, or indeed the end of tomorrow, or probably even by monday. The diagnosis thus far is: Possible wiring fault resulting in various error messages. Im guessing this will now involve large parts of the car being taken apart to inspect said wiring. The restricted performance issue apparently is addressed by a rather lengthy service bulletin from Jaguar. This too sounds like it will involve a lengthy diagnostic process, and I know in other cases has resulted in faulty turbo actuators being diagnosed and a very long wait for parts. Im about to call Jaguar assist to see if they can arrange a car, if not, Ill be contacting Jaguar and playing merry hell with them again. So, regardless of how pretty the JLR cars may be, Id urge anyone considering buying one to give them a massively wide berth. -

If it were my only means of transport and I was using it more frequently to travel to clients etc, then I probably would part with it. At the moment with the quality I have from the other cars, and the service from their dealers, I just put up with the constant crap from the Jaguar. In a weird way it actually makes me appreciate the service and quality from the other marques. Its been dropped off with Gordon Lamb today. Their parking spaces by the fact they have to accomodate Range Rovers, are very large. No danger of door dings, so quite impressed - certainly a change from the Nissan/Renault site next door that has hardly any free bays and those that are empty are extremely tight. They are going to give me a call and let me know when its been fixed. May be the end of the day, may be longer. If the restricted performance error turns out to be a stuck actuator, then it appears from other people suffering this fault, I could be without the car for a month or more as the parts for that particular issue are on back order it seems. I think Ill run it through another winter and look to swap next year. Ill take my time reviewing the dealers and their service before jumping in this time - and it will probably be something German. Id also like one built by robots too. This hand built larky sounds nice, but in reality you'll never find a robot doing the job with an "Oh well, it'll do" attitude. -

Nah - I shouldn't burden the forum to the extent that its just me whinging about how crap Jaguar and the Hatfields dealership are. I appologise for that Though when the Jaguar forums don't tolerate you posting anything negative about Jaguar I used the other car section of this forum for the free speech which seems to be lacking on the XF forum. Can you imagine how different this place would be if we didnt allow negative comments about Nissan or the dealers to be posted? I mean over there I cant even warn anyone off using the dealership that repaired my car without my permission and then advised my solicitor that there was nothing wrong.. Im just supposed to let other people use a dealer that thinks that is acceptable service Its not that the cars have faults, its how the manufacturer and the dealers rectify these - this is where Jaguar find themselves lacking in a MASSIVE way in my opinion. From discussions it appears that during the Ford days, a cost saving measure was to outsource the entire department responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction and service (or something along those lines). This has obviously left the manufacturer in a position where they are not even able to interject and improve the service for a customer. Many of the dealer networks are that large in relation to Jaguar themselves, its them calling the shots and not the manufacturer too, which again means if you get a pathetic service from the dealer, the manufacturer is powerless to do anything about it as they cant overrule the dealer! Hopefully for future customers TATA will turn this around, its way to late for me though. -

Google friendly additions made to the initial post. I think I may just stick Jaguar XF error codes and Jaguar XF restricted performance here so google can find that too. -

Wouldnt surprise me - any negaitive comments or remarks about the pathetic service from Jaguar are deleted, or topics removed or the users removed. Wouldnt surprise me if the moderators/administrators have some involvement with Jaguar or are given back handers for ensuring the brand is shown in a positive light at all times. Such a shame that google and our 1 million page views per month can swipe aside all that with one moouse click. Try putting "Oil level monitor System" into google (with the quotes) and see what comes up. I think I may just blog my Jag experience here and see what Jaguar make of that when google next searches us. This car, the attitude from Jaguar, the dealers and now even the XF forum on the web just plain winds me up. They wish to peddle themselves as a "prestige" brand, and then serve up utter @*!# at every turn. Car now booked in with Gordon Lambs at Chesterfield - I wouldnt take the zed to their Nissan dealership only due to the space they have in the car park and Im afraid of door dings, nothing against their actual service at all, wheres with the Jag, I just dont give a toss about it anymore, so ding away for me - they can set fire to the bloody thing and I wouldn't bat an eyelid. -

I just got banned from the XF forums for voicing my negative opinion on my XF and Jaguar. They really do have rose tinted specs on over there - jebus... -

Nope - its still adamant that its actually ill this morning. So Ill have to waste even more of my time getting the damn thing booked in at the dealers again to get its latest problem fixed. Just need to find another dealer now, as the one closest to me (Hatfields of Sheffield) in my opinion are a complete shower and I have instructed them never to contact me ever again. Quite a simple instruction that you think they could manage with a quick press of the delete key, but it appears not, as my waste paper basket will pay testament to. Still, not bad for a car with now a whopping 4300 miles on the clock. Well done Jaguar, you have managed to take all the elements of the most unreliable products I have ever known to exist, the worst customer service ever experienced (and I include BT and British Gas in that mix), and bundled the whole lot together into one (in the words of the Jaguar MD himself) "unique ownership experience". Yes - its unique alright. Uniquely @*!#. -
In all seriousness I wonder how the insurance companies would view this parking arrangement? Is it garaged or on drive? What would the issues be if the car were damaged by the garage?
-
Hmmm certainly some info to consider, but if it's doable then it may be a reserve plan of the above ground option were to be rejected on being "unsightly" or something like that. Still cool though, which is quite a draw
