dedward Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 hi guys, ive had a quick look around the forums but cant find an answer, ive now bought 2 different obd2 elm327 blue tooth readers, and have the same issue with both, i can connect both my sony phone and android HU to the blue tooth adapter, however on the torque app it stated that it cannot connect to the cars Ecu. this is driving me mad.. anyone else had this problem? -Bradders- Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 no idea then, i have a £4 obd reader off amazon and it works fine? Quote
dedward Posted April 9, 2015 Author Posted April 9, 2015 the adapters i have are- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221386957116 and http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/301102835725 Quote
-Bradders- Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 first one you posted is same one i have, you plugged it in ok? lol Quote
dedward Posted April 9, 2015 Author Posted April 9, 2015 yes plugged in ok. the red light stays on. and the yellow and green LED are intermittent staying lit for 5 secs then going out then back on etc. Quote
Rocky4510 Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 I think I have the same problem with mine, gunna try again on the weekend in a different car and see what happens Quote
dedward Posted April 9, 2015 Author Posted April 9, 2015 i heard theres a lot of dodgy connectors around so im also gonna try on my brothers car. just odd that the two ive bought are dodgy. Quote
Randy_Baton Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 I've had the same problem, tried 3 different readers all ~£5 Quote
chirag1988 Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 I'm having the same trouble mate. I bought two different elm adapters - one blue and one white. They both work fine with my Polo but I get the same issue with the zed. My phone connects to it but torque app says it can't read ECU Quote
dedward Posted April 9, 2015 Author Posted April 9, 2015 sooo yeah, just tried it on my brother suzuki swift sport and it works.... damn makes it more annoying why it doesn't work on the zed... Quote
ilogikal1 Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 Have a look in the car profile whilst in Torque and un/check the "use alternate OBD header" (or something like that - it specially mentions some Nissans need this). See if that changes anything? Quote
Mudman Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 (edited) Try downloading a few free apps - I use Car Gauge Pro and NDS Lite and both work with a generic ELM 27 and mines a JDM Edited April 20, 2015 by Mudman Quote
psion Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 (edited) The iphone doesn't have the torque app... nor does it have proper bluetooth Any way I actually made some progress, managed to connect to the ECU using NDS III Lite. It uses the Nissan consult protocol, this works perfectly, reading all sorts of sensors and switches in the Z, definitely not the prettiest app though, there is a paid version with more features and no adds. So I suspect Nissan turned off the normal OBD protocols Pro version of torque has consult protocol in beta, but says you need a specific consult adapter, no idea if they will support elm in the future Edited April 20, 2015 by psion Quote
dedward Posted April 30, 2015 Author Posted April 30, 2015 Ok I will try using a few free ones see if that makes a differentce. On my 4th adapter and all the same. So I'm guessing it's the car. I have tried the protocol setting within torque to no luck. Quote
RobPhoboS Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 I think if it's v1.5 it should work, anything higher and it doesn't seem to. My one was advertised as v1.5 but I think it was v2 or something like that, thus hasn't worked yet... Quote
terry06 Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Sorry to bring up an old thread but I'm having the same problems as the OP. I have tried a number of apps and a couple of adaptors ( that work in other cars) but can't connect to the zed. Anyone found a solution or an app that will work with the zed? Quote
terry06 Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 I have tried NDSII lite but there is an error after the obd adaptor connects. Can't find NDSIII lite on playstore for some reason 1 Quote
terry06 Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 The error from NDS states 'set allow long failed' as the status 1 Quote
Mudman Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 (edited) There's a load of info on this on the JDM section. It will work on. An android BT cons phone but never had it working on anything Apple Edited August 30, 2015 by Mudman Quote
Jumzo Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 I was attempting this on my '03 JDM yesterday. Managed to get my ebay elm clone to work using NDS II lite. Not NDS I, or NDS III! Downloaded the full version to get rid of the horrible ads but yet to test it out. Lite version gave me P codes and live data. Quote
