martybhoy Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 Something came across my mind earlier after washing my car. I have my roof wrapped in gloss black vinyl. I've also considerred getting the full cars colour changed over to gloss black as I think the zed really suits it. My question though does putting polish on top of a vinyl covered panel make a difference? Likewise if i'd to wrap my car, would there be a point in polishing it? Quote
coldel Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 I had a carbon wrap on a previous car, I accidentally got polish on it and it went a hazy white'ish colour. Quote
roscopervis Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 A polish - a product with abrasives in, will ruin the wrap. A wax, or sealant which won't be abrasive will be OK. 1 Quote
martinmac Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 There are dedicated products for wrapped cars. Quote
zippypooz Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Wax is fine on wraps, treat it the same as if it were a normal paint job. Waxing will mean you shouldnt need to polish it. Also, some wrapping films are designed to lessen light scuffs when heated. Basically they disappear when you go over it with a heat gun...dont over heat though. Hope this helps. By the way, if youre thinking of wrapping it black, id use avery supreme, it has a higher gloss finish than materials like hexis and 3m. Quote

Chris Wiltshire Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 I run a vinyl business and would not recommend polishing vinyl.. 1 Quote
Zedd Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 I want to do this as well, but like everyone else has said, dont polish it as it will ruin your wrap Quote
