BulletMagnet Posted October 5, 2014 Share Posted October 5, 2014 I have forever wanted to get some 06+ bi-xenon headlights for my '04 Zed, but could never justify the price for OEM ones. When these popped up on eBay at around £300 delivered, I thought it was worth a shot. Came in a big box, two boxes inside Very well packaged First I raised the front using low rise ramps and a jack and then set about removing my lip and bumper (there is a guide on here somewhere for that) To remove the lights, you need to unscrew four bolts as indicated by the arrows below Then carefully lift the headlight and unplug from harness Repeat for the other side and you should be looking at this Once the headlight is out, remove the back cover and disconnect the ballast from the bulb, remember to unscrew the ground wire Then remove the ballast itself, there are three screws that hold it on, don't forget the seal also. With the ballast free, unclip and unscrew the wire connected to it. Put the ballast and it's harness to one side and pick up your Depo headlight unit. The Depos do not come with any bulbs or ballast, but all the wiring is in place. You need 3457A bulbs for the indicators, D2S bulbs for the main beam. You can reuse the W5W sidelight bulbs from your old lights or fit new ones. You need to remove the existing grounding point by unscrewing it Then attach the grounding wire you removed earlier Attach the ballast main connector and connect the ground wire to it Feed the wire to the opening where the ballast will mount Reattach the wire to the ballast and screw into place, don't forget the O-ring Offer the lights to where they need to go and re-connect the main harness and test that all lights work before putting everything back together. These have the same adjustment wheels as the OEM ones. Though just split my pre facelifts and painted the insides aha Great job with the guide too man, would the beam pattern cause issues at MOT time atall? When you look into the light without the bulb fitted you can see the shroud, you can also test the shutter function by pressing a button on the back of the actuator. KyleR Posted October 6, 2014 Share Posted October 6, 2014 Look great BTW the UK cars have amber DRLs too I'd be interested to see if these can be adjusted to the left as well as a bit down and I wouldn't be worrying too much about the beam pattern so long as the highest point is lower than the limit. Yeah.....at Nismo prices I wasn't suggesting a purchase, as a 370 headlight is £1376 from Nissan, merely that the reflector being black doesn't affect output and it must be fashionable...
