2012 Nissan 370z with 2100 miles on the clock Cat D

From the photos it looks like there are at least four panels damaged, and given the position of the damage maybe the alloys on that side too. Still doesn't seem like enough to write off a ~£20k car though.

Did he say how it happened, or give an idea of the level of the impact?

he said, he deals with salvage cars and bought this a year ago for him self.. on the description he says his not sure selling it and accepted my12,000 offer, to be honest if i had this car and wasnt sure of selling it i wouldnt give it away for 12,000 unless i need urgent money.

this is the description on ebay "

Hello this is my 2012 Nissan 370z . Which I have had for around 1 year . I am not 100% sure on selling her as its the best car I have had . Which includes bmw m3 , audi , golfs . This car is by far the most fun to drive I had ever had but I do need to keep my drivers licence . I bought the car from an insurance company as I am in the trade . It was a demo car for JEF Nissan in Exeter . It had only coved 501 miles it had a small accident hence cat d . It had a new front bumber and side skirt . Which was replaced by the local Nissan dealer . I have pictures of it before it was repaired "

I think I'd be phoning JFE Nissan to see if they'd give a more thorough account of the extent of the damage.

Plus, the guy's ebay feedback doesn't inspire confidence (yes, I've been cyber-stalking :ninja: ).

This doesn't sound right to me.

Is a 370Z worth £12K as a Cat D after two years? Well, possibly. However, if I were selling there's no way I'd take a £4K hit on the first offer unless I knew that actually I was getting the better deal. Even at £16K as a Cat D it's good value IF that was the only damage.

Now, the other scenario here is that the insurance co took a gamble on making a bit of cash. They wrote it off and paid out on the basis that they could repair and sell for more than that. I find that to be highly unlikely, but not impossible.

How much is a new bumper and sideskirt from Nissan, painted and fitted? About £4K? Hell, let's double that for the sake of a bit of fun and call it £8K to fix. They usually won't write a car off below 50% of the value, so they reckon that a ONE YEAR OLD 370Z WAS ONLY WORTH £16K?? Yeah, do the sums on that and something clearly isn't ringing true here.

Don't get me wrong, if we're all barking up the wrong tree then this is possibly the best Zed bargain I've ever witnessed, and well done sir. All I would say is to be very careful, and get a Zed specialist to look the car over as well as the AA guy (the AA will be quite generic, you really need to get someone who knows what they're looking for to have a nose). Even if that costs you another £200, if it checks out then it's still a bargain.

Doesn't matter if there is, as long as the buyer purchases in good faith.

However, given the price of this car then this would be prudent to check, so far as is reasonably practicable. If there is a logbook loan though, you're stuffed regardless.

I have never known anybody in the trade to discount 25% that easy.

That and the fact its in Wisbech in my opinion you should BE VERY VERY WARY.

If i go i will be going with my friend his a Police Officer in London, Also i wont be carrying any cash. bank transfer only.

All car dealers have "bad feedback" seen a lot worse..!! :scare: :scare:

hmmmm, i think its worth going and seeing the car with an AA inspector.. worst case senario i will be losing £300..not 12k.

Also is there any Z speacialist around "Wisbech , Cambridgeshire"?

ebay listing says best offer has been accepted today?

http://www.ebay.co.u...-/121399953435?

yes, i made the offer last night, and he acccepted it in the morning today.

Also know as this morning

In that case as you made the best offer and he accepted it ..Its yours you bought it..

Only way out is if you both mutually agree to withdraw from the sale..!! :scare: :scare: :scare:

It is legally binding. Don't get confused between eBay law and the actual law.

Was there an offer? Yes. Acceptance? Yes. Consideration? Yes. Intent to create legal relations? Yes.

It's legally enforceable. Whether any one could be arsed to do so is another matter entirely.
